    Latest Phuket Speedboat Collision

Within the last hour or so, a speedboat collision has occured near Royal Phuket Marina, which has lead to (unconfirmed) two deaths and many injured. Seems incredible as this area is a creek where there are speed restrictions. Reportedly the deceased and most of the injured are Russians.

Something tells me the cowboys white and red Thai-dyed outfit isn't exactly a prop.

Must have been helping those torn by one.

My hat is off to him and the poor kid and those involved that had no control over the situation.

It's now started to appear in the local (Phuket) media, where they state currently 2 dead, 22 injured. The photos show the impact damage to the bow of the boat, and my guess is that this position is a magnet for children. The collision happened when the boat was leaving for a tour, in the creek that provides both Royal Phuket and Boat Lagoon marinas access to the sea.

    If you go here https://thethaiger.com/news

There is a video of the actual crash. Keep in mind that the speed limit for this channel is 5 knots and it has signs stating that.
The two dead are two Russian boys aged 12 and 9 years old.

The stupid governor couldn't be arsed to visit the casualties in hospital, so he delagated one of the deputy governors instead, who gave one of the victims..............a fruit basket.

    fucking thai chickenheads.

i doubt the pilot of the boat will be punished, the boats are mafia controlled, like eveything else in the tourist business and he will claim a mechanical fault or something. it will be interesting to see if the boat company has insurance for death and injury to its passengers.

    its a third world shithole.

^Looks like they are doing about 30 knots as they approach a bend in the channel. Would only take 3 seconds of inattention to create that mess.

Reminds me of the chickenheads I would sometimes meet on bikes coming round a bend on the wrong side of the road at top speed. Not a chance of stopping if anything is coming the other way.

You just have to pray that you don't meet one of these coontys at the wrong moment when you are tooling along in the opposite direction.

Have to feel for the families that have just lost their children while on holiday...a time when they should be at their most relaxed.

The fookers really have no idea how to commandeer anything above oxen + cart.

Be it pick-ups, minivans, trucks, scooters, boats.

Have to be curious as to what degree of criminal charges might be addressed and to whom.
Driver of the boat, owner, etc..??

Might be easy to suggest that the numb nut had no place behind the wheel and ignorant of nautical protocol.
More folks are dead because of Thais general negligence and indifference.

Both drivers have been charged with "reckless driving causing death and injury".

Yep. Can't imagine what those parents are going through right now. Hope their Embassy's have sent people to mediate and help them.

Indeed, and one grows weary of it. Day-by-day, these morons continue to behave as if they are swinging alone through the jungle canopy from which this ridiculous and dangerously reckless society has so recently emerged.

When one combines their congenital cognitive impairment with a grotesque unwillingness to consider the wellbeing of others, lest it detracts from their own worthless existence, it is scarcely surprising that not one day dawns in this benighted country without some form of lethal stupidity.

But as you say, law and order in this place is subordinate to the control of subcultures that assume a primacy over others not in their own sainted circles of self interest.

    Dreadful place, truly dreadful.

As avoidable as most boat crashes in LOS. Madness going that fast in a 5 knot area. Add speed boats to bungie jumping, fireworks and all of the other no-no`s for when in LOS.
