A good Android app for seeing current and next 24hrs air pollution is Plume. The graphics are amateur-ish but I've been using it for the last month and it's accuracy is very good, for example I could see last night that going for a walk this morning would have been a bad idea.

Where I am in Florida at the moment, the PM 2.5 count is a very healthy 6.

Here is part of the problem: two measurements from two apps; both from the same place and day (not today); the one on the left is the 'official' version

Yeah when it gets really bad all the Thai measurements go on the blink.
I don’t think anyone bothers with them anymore.

Most if not all schools have monitoring stations, hospitals and the like too, and the readings are taken and collated from those. A friend of mine even has one at their home.

They pretty reliable and infallible, certainly more so than the 'official' readings.

No idea. Not there. Wife used them and said it was nice whatever that means. However she says the skies are blue and quite clear.

Sattahip area is absolute shit. I cannot even see the islands out across the water.

It was only a few months ago that dill was crowing about the eastern seaboard being a much better choice than the north, due to the lack of pollution.

    Things change fast.

You do have the industry of Rayong down there but the air quality was far better than Bangkok or Chiang Mai in burning season..

Itll be worse here between July and October when Indonesia start burning and replanting their palm oil.

Overall, the North area where I live has always had really good air for the most part. Sadly CM is horrific. Its bad when you can see this thick ugly layer of smoke up against the mountains trying to get out.

I always thought that the ocean area would have descent air quality as you have the ocean breeze to keep it pushed back. Not here apparently. I am looking across the ocean right now and somewhere out there are islands. Maybe I can see them in a few days. You can smell the smoke when I walk out to the beach area.

Some day the Thai folk will learn and see what they are doing to their environment. It will take the older ignorant generation to die off first though. You are not going to stop 60 year old Somchai and his band of uneducated workers from burning his fields. Its all about money.

Again though, Its just another season. Just deal with it and move on.

Anywhere from Chumphon south doesn't suffer from this nonsense, and these are the sensible places to live in Thailand. Why would anyone emigrate to the tropics and then choose to live nowhere near the sea, worst of all in landlocked northern Thailand which for the first five months of the year is grim due to dust then 40 celcius temperatures.

KL has everything Chiang Mai has by way of quality of life, and a whole lot more.

Why would anyone emigrate to the tropics, leave, and then spend the remainder of their life obsessively fixated on it?

Obsessed he is. You’d think he would spend some time making his own forum or something.

You'll have to ask people who've done at least one, and preferably all three, of those things.

Lampang has been beautiful and cool for some time now. Funny I'd rather be there then near the beach right now. Appears from Sri Racha to near Rayong is smoked in.

Don't spoil it for the alarmists! off course you are going to get different readings in different areas! I live in Udon Thani - 12km from the city centre, currently it is showing 157 AQI on an independent monitor in UT city, out here at the house it is 43 on two independent monitors that I have, the city centres are always a lot worse due to the added traffic pollution load, same place, different areas.
