Again, just utter bullshit from a group of people incapable of addressing issues at hand, who simply make up shit and blame the EU/France/Germany etc . . . like we have seen so many times on tis thread alone. It's not at the level where Brexiteer1 makes up shit an fthen Brexiteer2 refers to Brexiteers1's comment and it becomes fact.

People who took part in trials of Covid vaccines which haven't been approved yet will be offered two doses of another vaccine from next week, health officials say.

This means more than 15,000 volunteers who received Novavax or other jabs will finally be able to travel abroad.

An eight-week gap is needed between the third and fourth doses.

The NHS Covid app will also be altered to permit travel after the extra two doses.

The move, announced by the Department of Health in England, has been developed with the help of the UK's vaccine committee and investigators who worked on the clinical trials.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland health teams are expected to follow suit in their regions.

Although people who signed up to Covid vaccine trials are recognised as fully-vaccinated in the UK - even if the vaccine has not been approved by the UK regulator - many other countries are not allowing them to enter.

And many volunteers had complained this put them at a disadvantage through no fault of their own.

I had read that they were going to stop the requirement in Phuket to free up hospital beds. Not sure if they did and if they did that it was nationwide or just limited to Phuket. From a thread in another forum where the OP was infected with covid, a couple of days ago, he said that he took a home test from fear that he be taken to the hospital if he was tested at a government facility, and no one challenge him, so it is either still in affect or everyone thinks that it still is, either way the effect is that people are home testing because of it.

    Great news for Taiwan.

They'll soon be able to travel freely.

Taipei, Oct. 9 (CNA) The eighth batch of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine purchased from the American vaccine maker arrived in Taiwan early Saturday, comprising 1.13 million doses, and comes at a time when many people who received their first dose of the brand over two months ago still haven't been given their second shot.
The latest shipment touched down at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport around 1:19 a.m. on a China Airlines flight that departed from Atlanta City, in the United States, on Friday.

Oh dear I am really toying with hoohoo's emotions today.

Russians are travelling to Serbia in the hundreds on vaccination tour packages to receive western-approved Covid-19 shots.

Last year, Russian regulators approved Sputnik V, the country’s own coronavirus vaccine, in a moment of national pride that saw citizens rushing to take the injection. But international health authorities have not yet approved the shot.

So when members of the Pavlov family from Rostov-on-Don wanted to visit the West, they began looking for a vaccine that would allow them to travel freely. Their quest took them to Serbia.

Serbia, which is not a member of the EU, is a convenient choice for vaccine-seeking Russians because they can enter the allied Balkan nation without visas and because it offers a wide choice of western-made shots.

Organised tours for Russians have soared. Now they can be spotted in the capital, Belgrade, at hotels, restaurants, bars and vaccination clinics.

We took the Pfizer vaccine because we want to travel around the world,” Nadezhda Pavlova, 54, said after receiving the vaccine last weekend at a sprawling Belgrade vaccination centre.

Got a Sinopharm vaccy coming up.

Edith says I can't drink coffee that morning.

Which would mean being brought in on a stretcher.

    Truth or cobblers?

Malaysia lifts travel restrictions for fully vaccinated people

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia on Sunday lifted interstate and international travel restrictions for residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as the country achieved its target of inoculating 90% of its adult population.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government has agreed to allow fully vaccinated Malaysians to travel overseas without applying for permission. The new rules take effect on Monday.

The government is preparing to shift into an endemic COVID-19 phase where it will not impose wide lockdowns again if cases rise, Ismail Sabri told a news conference.

"We have to train ourselves to live with COVID, because COVID may not be eliminated fully," he said.

Nearly 65% of the country`s 32 million population, including those aged 12 to 17, were fully vaccinated as of Saturday. The Southeast Asian nation has recorded 2.3 million coronavirus infections and 27,265 deaths from COVID-19.

First of all, you should get enough sleep, refrain from drinking alcohol, coffee or tea.

Scientists in Japan have developed a vaccination approach that could lead to protection against a wide range of coronaviruses – not just the one that causes Covid-19.
Developing a more widely applicable vaccine has been a major goal of researchers, as some existing vaccines have proved to be less effective against emerging variants of Sars-CoV-2.
The strategy of the researchers in Japan could potentially be used to provide protection even against new pandemics caused by different coronaviruses. Their strategy, described in a newly published paper in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, involved genetically engineering proteins from Sars-CoV-2.

Japanese scientists edge closer to developing single vaccine against all coronaviruses

Almost a fifth of the most critically ill coronavirus patients in England in recent months were unvaccinated pregnant women, health officials said as they urged expectant mothers to get their jabs.NHS England said that, between July 1 and September 30, 17 per cent of Covid patients receiving treatment through a special lung-bypass machine were mothers-to-be who had not had their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The organisation said data also showed that pregnant women accounted for 32 per cent of all females aged between 16 and 49 in intensive care on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) – used when a patient’s lungs are so damaged by Covid that a ventilator cannot maintain oxygen levels.

NHS England said this figure has risen from 6 per cent at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

England’s chief midwife, Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, said the data is “another stark reminder that the Covid-19 jab can keep you, your baby and your loved ones safe and out of hospital”.

80% of Tokyoites under 60 who die of COVID-19 are male, study finds

Eighty percent of people under 60 who died from COVID-19 in Tokyo were male, according to a study that highlights the increased dangers of underlying conditions during the pandemic.

Obesity and diabetes caused by poor dietary habits, stress and lack of exercise are believed to worsen COVID-19 symptoms.

“Young patients who end up being on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine or a ventilator are predominantly male,” said Hironori Sagara, director of Showa University Hospital.

Maybe the general's announcement is down to this...

Indonesia is reopening its borders further, allowing visitors from more countries to enter and imposing a shorter quarantine period.
Southeast Asia’s largest economy will allow arrivals from 18 countries and reduce the minimum quarantine period to five days, from eight previously, said Luhut Panjaitan, coordinating minister for maritime and investment affairs who’s overseeing the pandemic response. He didn’t specify which are the 18 countries.

Indonesia cuts quarantine to 5 days as borders reopen further
    or this:

Singapore Airlines Ltd’s website was temporarily down over the weekend and travel agencies are seeing a surge in demand for flights after the city’s government announced a plan to start quarantine-free travel with more countries as early as next week.
Inquiries jumped more than five times the usual on Chan Brothers Travel’s website, according to the travel agent’s senior marketing communications manager Jeremiah Wong. South Korea and European countries are among the favourite destinations, he said.

China rejects WHO calls for inspection of bat caves, animal farms: Report

China has rejected calls by World Health Organisation (WHO) for inspection of bat caves and animal breeding farms aimed at further investigation into origins of COVID pandemic, said a report.

Washington Post said that WHO wanted to carry out investigations in Enshi, six-hour drive from Wuhan which was world's first major epicentre of coronavirus outbreak.

China has repeatedly resisted calls for a thorough international investigation into origins of COVID pandemic within its borders. A WHO has already made observations while in China but there were strict restrictions on movement of the members. At the end of their investigation, the team had stressed the need for more observations.

In August, US intelligence agencies told US President Joe Biden that coronavirus was not a biological weapon but may have been caused due to natural transmission or due to a lab leak.

China has vehemently denied allegations that coronavirus originated there

The animal farms around Wuhan came into focus when it became known that animals from these farms were sold in the wet markets of Wuhan when such a sale was not permitted under the law.
