I mean it signed up to deliver and it really hasn't, not a criticism just an observation.

I was just reading some good news about the efficacy of the J&J vaccine, and I remember that I had read that since the US had enough of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines they were going to release the J&J vaccine to the world,
But I hear nothing about the J&J vaccine in Thailand. I wonder why that is?

Aren't the Pfizers good enough for Thailand then?

Pfizer is certainly good enough, but there don't seem to be enough of it available for immediate delivery.

They still seem to be using it. Perhaps the vaccination rate is the problem.

Melbourne Anti-Lockdown Protests Fizzle Out As Daily COVID-19 Cases Hit Pandemic High

Melbourne’s streets were largely quiet on Thursday after three days of anti-lockdown protests, with hundreds of police officers on patrol in the city to prevent another rally as COVID-19 cases in Victoria hit a daily pandemic record.

Police in central Melbourne were checking people’s reasons for being outside, footage on social media showed, after a violent protest on Wednesday in Australia’s second-largest city resulted in more than 200 arrests.

A vaccination center at the Melbourne Town Hall would be shut until Monday after several of its staff were physically and verbally abused on their way to work, operator cohealth said on Thursday, Reuters reported.

“Why would you abuse, as I’m told, why would you spit on people who are doing that sort of work?,” Premier Daniel Andrews said in a media briefing in Melbourne, the state capital. “That is ugly, that is uncalled for.”

Hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets in the city of 5 million since officials earlier this week ordered a two-week closure of building sites and made vaccines mandatory for construction workers to limit the spread of the virus.

Police and union officials have said extremist and far-right groups joined the demonstrations.

Victoria on Thursday reported 766 new locally acquired cases, topping its previous pandemic daily high of 725 hit on Aug. 5, 2020, and four new deaths. Neighboring New South Wales reported 1,063 new infections, up from 1,035 a day earlier, and six new deaths.

Australia is fighting a third wave of infections from an outbreak of the Delta variant in its two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne, and its capital Canberra, forcing nearly half the country’s 25 million people into strict stay-at-home restrictions.

Officials have promised to ease lockdown rules once 70 percent of adults are fully vaccinated, which is expected next month. Some 55.5 percent of people aged 16 and older are fully vaccinated in New South Wales and about 45 percent in Victoria.

Dual-dose vaccinations in New South Wales are rising by around 1 percent a day, state Health Minister Brad Hazzard said, putting it on track to hit 70 percent by around Oct. 8. Officials have pledged to ease lockdown curbs on the Monday after that target has reached.

Australia’s total infections topped 92,000, with some 61,000 recorded since mid-June when the first Delta case was detected in Sydney. Total deaths are just below 1,200, but still lower than in many other comparable countries.

    Stupid fucking bogans.

As soon as they spit on a health worker they should be clubbed unconscious and incarcerated.

Eliyantha White: Sri Lankan shaman dies of Covid after touting cure

A Sri Lankan shaman who touted a potion which he said would protect people against Covid-19 has died with the disease, his family says.

Eliyantha White treated sports stars and top politicians with the potion, which he said came to him in a dream.

He said pouring it into rivers could end the pandemic in Sri Lanka and neighbouring India.

The 48-year-old fell ill with the virus earlier this month and was taken to hospital where his condition worsened.

His potion was publicly endorsed by Sri Lanka's former health minister, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, who subsequently spent two weeks in intensive care with Covid.

Mr White rose to prominence in recent years after treating several Indian cricket stars, but his treatments have been rejected by mainstream doctors.

In 2010, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar publicly thanked him after he said the shaman had healed a knee injury.

He also gave consultations to the current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who tweeted his condolences.

"His legacy will continue to live through all the lives, he touched and healed of various ailments," Mr Rajapaksa wrote.

Mr White's body was cremated on Thursday in line with Covid regulations.

Meanwhile, this morning in Kantang, Trang Province (one of the southernmost provinces severely affected by the latest outbreak since April), crowds scrambling to get their first dose of Sinovac. An absolute disgrace of a national vaccination policy.

Cheers for sharing those pics PAG.

    That is madness!!

Crowded together hoping to receive a vaccine that doesn't work, what could possibly go wrong.

I fear the statistics in Thailand are not entirely accurate...

I'm not sure if you're trying to say they fucked it up or are just being deliberately nasty.

Ah, this probably got the chinkies upset as well.

Mexico City, September 21, 2021 – Today, 1.75 million doses of the Moderna vaccine, donated by the United States, arrived in the Toluca airport. This delivery completes the 3.5 million Moderna vaccines donated to Mexico, for a total of 7.57 million vaccines which the U.S. have donated to the country this year.

The UK has made a very untidy risk assessment regarding the value of some countries certification. They do not trust some countries from the developing world.
This means my 2=doses of AZ, gifted to Indonesia by the WHO through the Covax scheme, are not accepted by the UK.
In the rush to get vaccines to people when the programme started back in January 2021, the local health authorities were not too concerned about proof of vaccine other than to provide national proof statistics. When they did introduce a half decent app in PeduliLundingi, it was very useful in country, providing access to facilities at the local level. To complete the app and to input relevant proof or vaccination status, you are required to be fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, the only language it is available in.

Until such times as the app is approved elsewhere, and an English translation is available, it will remain as a useful tool only on the national level.

Most developing countries have more important concerns than the global acceptance of the national vaccination proof. It works fine for me locally, but it will not be accepted for travel outside Indonesia yet.
