Hong Kong lawmaker Regina Ip has received a dose of the German-developed BioNTech vaccine after finding that no Covid antibodies were detected from her two jabs with the Chinese-made Sinovac some six months ago.
Ip, a member of both the Legislative and Executive Councils, tested negative for coronavirus antibodies earlier this week. She said on Thursday she acted as a “guinea pig” by receiving the extra shot of BioNTech after she was fully vaccinated in March with two doses of Sinovac.

It is actually an animal anti-parasitic drug that was found to be safe for humans in small doses.

It is not an antibiotic and most definitely not an antiviral.

Merck began marketing ivermectin as a veterinary antiparasitic in 1981

A classic tale of stupid, unvaccinated Florida man.

    Very lucky to be alive.

And now he doesn't want unvaccinated people near him, bless.

I think that freedom of the people to express their opinions is a good thing, especially when influential anti vax nutters die.

It makes me laugh when all these fucking antivax morons fall so heavily off their high horses.

I couldn't give a fuck if they live or die, as long as they are taken out of the infection side of the equation.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 20) — Over two million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United States arrived in the country Monday.

The 2,020,590 doses that arrived earlier were donated through the Covax facility and are part of the U.S. commitment to allocate 10 million Pfizer shots for the Philippines.

A second batch of 561,600 doses of Pfizer vaccines, also from the Covax facility, arrived at past 9 p.m., bringing the total Pfizer vaccine doses delivered today to 2,582,190.

According to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr., the delivery of vaccines from the U.S. will be completed by the first week of October.

World Health Organization Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe said the donation can help the country address the COVID-19 surge it is experiencing, adding that it should be used to inoculate senior citizens as over 3.5 million elderly Filipinos are still unvaccinated.

"Pfizer vaccines are coming at an excellent time," he said during the vaccine arrival. "(It is) meant to help the Philippines respond to the current surge and protect as many Filipino lives as possible."

Galvez agreed with Abeyasinghe's observation, saying government officials are convincing the elderly to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

He added the vaccines will be sent to regions experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases, particularly provinces in Northern Luzon.

Galvez also said 22 million more doses are scheduled to arrive in the country by month-end or by the first week of October, and the total vaccine deliveries are expected to hit more than 100 million doses by the end of next month.

This is true and an important point.

It seems I have no greens to offer you so I'll say it here. Many people in the UK have had serious surgery postponed, consultations cancelled and diagnoses of significant medical problems left unmade. The burden on the NHS has been overwhelming and it is to be expected that many people will live shorter lives because of the resources soaked up by Covid patients. Those Covid patients needed help and they got it even if they made some wrong vaccination choices along the way. There will be others, particularly cancer patients, who will be paying a price on their behalf.

It's not just a bed shortage, which really didn't last that long anyway.

It's more that cancer patients under chemo or radio usually have a very depressed immune system which makes them incredibly vulnerable to the bug. And of course a lot of that potential infection comes in a hospital setting.

Wuhan scientists planned to release coronavirus particles into cave bats, leaked papers reveal

Leaked documents reveal researchers applied for $14m to fund controversial project in 2018

Wuhan scientists were planning to release enhanced airborne coronavirus particles into Chinese bat populations to inoculate them against diseases that could jump to humans, leaked grant proposals dating from 2018 show.
New documents show that just 18 months before the first Covid-19 cases appeared, researchers had submitted plans to release skin-penetrating nanoparticles and aerosols containing “novel chimeric spike proteins” of bat coronaviruses into cave bats in Yunnan, China.
They also planned to create chimeric viruses, genetically enhanced to infect humans more easily, and requested $14million from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) to fund the work.

Papers, confirmed as genuine by a former member of the Trump administration, show they were hoping to introduce “human-specific cleavage sites” to bat coronaviruses which would make it easier for the virus to enter human cells.

When Covid-19 was first genetically sequenced, scientists were puzzled about how the virus had evolved such a human-specific adaptation at the cleavage site on the spike protein, which is the reason it is so infectious.

The documents were released by Drastic, the web-based investigations team set up by scientists from across the world to look into the origins of Covid-19.

In a statement, Drastic said: “Given that we find in this proposal a discussion of the planned introduction of human-specific cleavage sites, a review by the wider scientific community of the plausibility of artificial insertion is warranted.”
The proposal also included plans to mix high-risk natural coronavirus strains with more infectious but less dangerous varieties...

The head of Portugal's vaccine rollout has declared victory over the coronavirus after his country became one of the first in the world to fully vaccinate four out of every five residents.

The European nation, which has been slowly opening up based on vaccination targets across the summer, reached the milestone this week and is expected to hit 85 per cent by the end of the month and scrap most COVID-19 restrictions.

"We have beaten this virus," taskforce leader Vice-Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo said on Wednesday.
