    Makes sense.

Singapore will be adjusting the quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday, Sep. 10.
This update to quarantine protocol takes into account the incubation period of the Delta variant, which has a shorter incubation period -- an average of under four days compared to an average of six days for the original strain, MOH said.
According to the ministry, this means that it will take an average of four days after exposure to the virus, for the virus to be detectable in the individual.
As such, MOH has decided to reduce the quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days from the date of last exposure, provided the person under quarantine tests negative for Covid-19 at the end of his quarantine.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. is doubling the fine for people who break the rule requiring masks on planes, trains and other forms of public transit to slow the spread of COVID-19, with President Joe Biden warning Thursday that violators should “be prepared to pay.”
First-time offenders would face a potential fine of $500 to $1,000 and second-time offenders could pay $1,000 to $3,000 under rules that the Transportation Security Administration said will go into effect Friday.
The fine currently starts at $250 and can go up to $1,500 for repeat offenders.

More Delta Air Lines employees are getting vaccinated against COVID-19 since the company announced that those who aren’t will see a health care insurance surcharge of $200 a month.

About 20,000 of Atlanta-based Delta’s 80,000 employees were still unvaccinated when the airline announced the penalty two weeks ago, according to the company’s chief health officer Henry Ting.

Now, about 20% of those unvaccinated employees have decided to get the shots, Ting said during an Infectious Diseases Society of America briefing on Thursday.

As a result, 78% of Delta employees are now vaccinated.

After announcing penalty for unvaccinated employees, Delta says more workers are getting inoculated

In her final TikTok video before her death, Megan Alexandra Blankenbiller encouraged her thousands of followers to get vaccinated as she fought Covid-19 from a hospital.

"I don't have a lot of energy for talking, so I'm going to try and make this quick. I'm going to be taking a couple of breaks," Blankenbiller said in the Aug. 15
video, which has been viewed more than 850,000 times.

"So, just to follow up again, like I said in my other videos, I did not get vaccinated," said Blankenbiller, who lived in the Jacksonville, Florida, area,
according to WebMD. "I'm not anti-vax. I was just trying to do my research. I was scared, and I wanted me and my family to all do it at the same time. And as I'm sure you guys know, it's hard to get everyone to agree on something if people feel differently."

Blankenbiller, who appeared to struggle to catch her breath, said not having gotten vaccinated "was a mistake."

"I shouldn't have waited," she said before pleading with her followers: "If you are even 70 percent sure that you want the vaccine, go get it. Don't wait. Go get it. Because hopefully if you get it then you won't end up in the hospital like me."

The video was posted a little more than a week before Blankenbiller died. Her sister Cristina Blankenbiller confirmed her death in a Facebook post.

Southeast Asian Nations Find it Tough to Reduce Delta Variant Infections

The infectious Delta variant of COVID-19 is cutting a swathe through much of Southeast Asia as some of the region’s countries report daily new infections close to record highs after a flattening late last year and in early 2021.

Indonesia, where new cases have dropped to below 10,000 daily following a horrific second wave in June and July that saw infections soar to as high as 56,757 in one day, is one of the region’s bright spots.

In Malaysia where 70.5 percent of adults are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, new cases remain high because of the Delta variant and three other factors, said Dr. Kris See, medical director of the Osel Group, a health care company.

Covid vaccines won't end pandemic and officials must now 'gradually adapt strategy' to cope with inevitable spread of virus, World Health Organization official warns

WHO's Europe director says jabs will not end the pandemic due to new variants

In May, he said the pandemic would be over if 70 per cent were double-jabbed
Leaders should adapt vaccine strategy and consider additional injections

    PUBLISHED: 18:35, 10 September 2021 | UPDATED: 23:27, 10 September 2021

Dr Hans Kluge, the WHO's Europe director, warned 'Covid will continue to mutate and remain with us, the way influenza is'

Covid jabs will not end the pandemic and leaders should prepare to adjust their vaccine strategy to deal with the virus in the long-term, the World Health Organization's director for Europe has warned.

Dr Hans Kluge said new strains of Covid will continue to emerge and the virus will remain with us like the flu.

Earlier this year, he said the pandemic would be over once 70 per cent of people were fully immunised.

But he admitted today that the situation had now changed, so leaders need to adapt their vaccination strategy.

Up to 80 per cent of people in wealthy countries are double-jabbed, but less than 0.1 per cent have received a vaccine in poorer countries.

Some experts initially thought that once enough people were vaccinated, the virus would be unable to spread.

But while the jabs are highly effective at preventing hospitalisations and deaths, they are less effective at stopping transmission, leading officials to warn that the world must learn to live with the virus.

In wealthier countries, including Portugal, Singapore and Denmark, more than 70 per cent of the entire population has been double-jabbed. But in poorer countries, such as Tanzania, Haiti and Chad as little as 0.1 per cent have received both doses, according to Our World in Data

Scientists from Imperial College London estimate that the three Covid jabs dished out in the UK reduce transmission by 40 per cent, while Warwick University calculated the figure to be 45 per cent. This means of 100 unvaccinated people who would pass on the virus, just 60 to 55 of them would pass it on if they were double-jabbed

Unfortunately the WHO, the only organization capable of dealing with the pandemic on an international level was sidelined and discredited by the trump administration.

You have to laugh at the antivax wankers.

Now they are squealing about Afghan refugees being given horse dewormer, even though they are actually getting it for the parasites for which it is prescribed.

That would be a terrific move, as it would stop those antivax wankers travelling, or at least force them to spread the bug only amongst their fellow looneys.

It is to a great extent the citizens from republican states who refuse to vaccinate and who oppose Biden's vaccine mandate.
96% of all who die of covid in US are not vaccinated and the ratio between republicans and democrats is 5 to 1.

In numbers this means that for 100 people who died of covid 4 of them were vaccinated, 80 were not vaccinated republicans, 16 were not vaccinated democrats.
Those numbers look really good for the next US election...

The UK day2 PCR testing scam could be on its last legs, and about time too.

Travel PCR tests could be scrapped in traffic light system review saving UK families hundreds of pounds

Holidaymakers have claimed to have been left waiting days for PCR test results after paying out hundreds of pounds

Expensive PCR tests could potentially be scrapped for double-vaccinated travellers at the next review of the traffic light system. The Government is thought to be considering removing the requirement for fully vaccinated passengers travelling to the UK from most countries to have PCR tests, which cost the average traveller over £70, The Times reports.

Some European countries, including Germany and France, already do not require a PCR test on arrival though may ask for proof of vaccination or a negative test result.

As part of the travel review, the Government will reportedly consider removing the need for PCR tests for vaccinated people except for those arriving from red list countries. Reports also suggest the three-tier system will be replaced with two travel lists, with amber and green categories merging into one green list, while arrivals from red destinations must still quarantine in hotels.

The review, which will be completed by Department for Transport by 1 October, aims to make international travel more affordable and simplify the process of going abroad.

The traffic light system and costly PCR tests have received mounting criticism from industry leaders, with trade association ABTA, which represents tour operators and travel agents in the UK, calling for “a more straightforward and more manageable system to help build confidence in travel”.

Holidaymakers previously told i they were left waiting days for Covid results after paying hundreds of pounds for the costly tests.

    ...

Travel PCR tests could be scrapped in traffic light system review saving UK families hundreds of pounds

I was going to go back this month but think I'll wait until October now. I am happy to have a PCR test on arrival but see no reason for the day0..2 test when I get there and certainly not paying silly money for little more than a home kit posted to me with a 48hr turn around time.

Since I'm fully vaccinated, I can travel anywhere in the EU without the need for PCR testing and I see no reason why this shouldn't also apply when travelling to the UK.

Speaking of the UK, I was having a chat with a (now German citizen) colleague who went back to the UK in August to visit his Dad. He was quite shocked at the lack of mask wearing in the UK. They were worn on public transport but not in the shops or other areas where people are in close contact. Certainly not the discipline that we have witnessed in France ad Germany. Even in Croatia, which was relaxed, masks were worn everywhere indoors with disinfectant available on entry/exit.

If this is the case, I can see why the number of infections is still so high in the UK.
