CDC asks the unvaccinated not to travel this weekend and says even vaccinated need to weigh the risk

Due to the surge of Covid-19 cases, the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is asking unvaccinated Americans not to travel during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The US is surpassing an average of 160,000 new Covid-19 cases a day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. With the spread of the more transmissible Delta variant and many students returning to the classroom for a new academic year, the rise is concerning officials and health experts.
"First and foremost, if you are unvaccinated, we would recommend not traveling," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at a White House COVID-19 Response Team Briefing on Tuesday.

Walensky said that while people who are fully vaccinated can travel with precautions, current transmission rates mean they too need to take Covid-19 risk into consideration when deciding whether to travel.

They certainly have a death wish, but not very secret, it is abundantly evident by the stupidity of everything they say.

    From the article:

In Wednesday's video, Rogan said he took several medications after his diagnosis, including the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin, the use of which has become popular among fringe and anti-vaccine communities, and which US health officials have strongly advised against.
If he recovers, which most do, he'll harp on about hoe Ivermectin saved his life . . . and since he refuses to say whether or not he's been vaccinated he'll be sitting pretty either way.

Well, unless he dies, of course

The UK, with a very similar population number, with 88.5% of its population having had at least one jab and 78.9% being fully vaccinated, is still scoring over 30,000 new infections per day.

Could it be that the UK is testing nearly 1,000,000 people a day and actually giving some credibility to the numbers here?

Until I see Thailand doing a million tests a day I am going to say that the published infection numbers are BS.

And that's the crux of it, isn't it. How many are tested . . . it's very trumpian (or Kiwi-PM-esque) to be 'happy' with a low number of infections if the testing numbers are low.

    Some more actual science.

The researchers looked at data collected on more than 1 million people from December 2020 through July 2021, a period that spanned both the alpha and delta variant waves in the U.K. Participants received two doses of either the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccine.

    Overall,
less than 0.2 percent of the participants reported a breakthrough infection, with such cases more likely in people already considered to be vulnerable, including older adults or people with underlying illnesses.

    When breakthrough infections did occur,
most were mild — just 6 percent of people with breakthrough infections reported symptoms. What's more, vaccination was shown to cut the risk of hospitalization by more than two-thirds.
Risk of breakthrough infections remains very rare, 3 studies find

Thailand cites positive results from Sinovac-AstraZeneca vaccine formula

FILE PHOTO: COVID-19 vaccinations in Bangkok

    Thu, September 2, 2021, 3:40 PM

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's health ministry said on Thursday that its COVID-19 vaccine regimen of China's Sinovac followed by British-developed AstraZeneca was safe and successfully boosted immunity among its first 1.5 million recipients.

Thailand in July became the first country in the world In first, Thailand to mix Sinovac, AstraZeneca vaccine doses | Reuters to mix a Chinese vaccine and a Western-developed vaccine as cases and deaths in the country surged and the government struggled with vaccine supplies.

"The cross formula has been injected to over 1.5 million people and it is safe. Please don't say things that would create concern," senior health official Supakit Sirilak told a news conference.

He said Thailand, which has been manufacturing the AstraZeneca vaccine, would no longer be giving two doses of Sinovac's CoronaVac.

Just 13% of Thailand's population of over 66 million has been fully vaccinated.

The majority of its 1.2 million infections and 12,103 coronavirus deaths came after April this year, brought on by the highly transmissible Alpha and Delta variants.

The health ministry said the Sinovac-AstraZeneca combination boosted immunity to the same levels as two AstraZeneca shots and meant vaccinations could be completed faster due to the shorter dose gap.

The formula will be used for most of Thailand's vaccinations, Public Health Permanent Secretary Kiatiphum Wongrajit said.
Booster doses will be given to 3 million people who received two Sinovac shots, using a different type of vaccine, likely from this month, health minister Anutin Charnvirakul has said.

Sinovac's inactivated virus vaccine has caused concern in some countries about its resistance to the Delta variant.

Earlier this week during a censure debate on the coronavirus crisis, Anutin told lawmakers not to criticise Sinovac, to protect the Thai public and avoid harming ties with China.

"Tarnishing of the Sinovac vaccine by many (house) members may create panic, confusion and concern for the public," he said.

Possibly the one thing Thailand has got right so far is 'injectees'.

The fucking stuff can make you go blind and the idiots are still taking it.

SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA, Okla. (KFOR) – A rural Oklahoma doctor said patients who are taking the horse de-wormer medication, ivermectin, to fight COVID-19 are causing emergency room and ambulance back ups.

“There’s a reason you have to have a doctor to get a prescription for this stuff, because it can be dangerous,” said Dr. Jason McElyea.

Dr. McElyea said patients are packing his eastern and southeastern Oklahoma hospitals after taking ivermectin doses meant for a full-sized horse, because they believed false claims the horse de-wormer could fight COVID-19.

“The ERs are so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated,” he said.

That’s something McElyea said is now backing up ambulance systems as well.

“All of their ambulances are stuck at the hospital waiting for a bed to open so they can take the patient in and they don’t have any, that’s it,” said Dr. McElyea. “If there’s no ambulance to take the call, there’s no ambulance to come to the call.”

“Do not take medicine for animals,” Oklahoma stores sold out of horse deworming drug despite FDA warning about consumption
The doctor said many of his patients aren’t afraid of ivermectin. Many of them have used it on their livestock.

“Growing up in a small town, rural area, we’ve all accidentally been exposed to ivermectin at some time. So, it’s something people are familiar with. Because of those accidental sticks, when trying to inoculate cattle, they’re less afraid of it,” he said.

Now, the rural patients are going into their local agricultural or tractor supply store, ignoring the warning signs surrounding the products, and figuring out a dosage themselves.

“Some people taking inappropriate doses have actually put themselves in worse conditions than if they’d caught COVID,” said the doctor.

Dr. McElyea said the patients are suffering from nausea, vomiting, muscle aches and cramping, and that’s only in minor cases.

“The scariest one that I’ve heard of and seen is people coming in with vision loss,” he said.

Even the manufacturer states there is no scientific basis or meaningful evidence Ivermectin is effective against COVID. However, many of the tractor supply stores say their shelves are empty.

“You have to ask yourself, ‘If I take this medicine, what am I going to do if something bad happens?’ What’s your next step, what’s your backup plan?” the doctor said. “If you’re going to take a medicine that could affect your health, do it with a doctor on board. Make those decisions with a thoroughly vetted opinion. There’s a lot of schooling that goes into that. It’s not just something you look on the internet for and decide if it’s the right dose.”

Israel registers record daily coronavirus cases
Country to press ahead with school openings as it encourages all over-12s to get third jab

    Agence France-Presse
    Tue 31 Aug 2021 11.22 BST

Israel has recorded its highest daily number of coronavirus cases with nearly 11,000 new infections, amid a surge caused by the highly transmissible Delta variant as schools prepare to re-open.

The previous high came on 18 January, with 10,118 cases.

Despite Tuesday’s 10,947 confirmed cases, Israel is pressing ahead with plans to fully open its school system on Wednesday as it tries to boost vaccination rates.

The prime minister, Naftali Bennett – a critic of the cycle of lockdowns implemented by his predecessor, Benjamin Netanyahu – has maintained that the surge can be controlled through vaccination and protective measures such as masks.

About 60% of Israel’s 9.3 million residents have received two shots of the vaccine, including 80% of adults.

In December, Israel became one of the first countries to launch a national vaccination campaign. It brought daily infections down to a trickle and by June nearly all pandemic restrictions were lifted.

Several measures have since been reimposed, including mask wearing indoors, limits on gatherings and the need to present proof of vaccination for entry to certain facilities.

Bennett has said that the rollout of the booster jab programme was showing results, notably by restricting the rise in hospitalisations.

Here you go my convict friends. Her Majesty still loves you.

Australia has struck a deal with the United Kingdom for four million doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the agreement would mean the number of Pfizer doses arriving in Australia during September would double.
