To anyone who has access to a vaccine, just get it. Then you can avoid the annoying and painful test and all this crap.
What prompted you to get a test. Did you have Covid symptoms, or just curiosity.

An antigen swab test is compulsory here for domestic (inter province) tourism. I am symptom free despite my age and other vulnerable factors. (I smoke).

I had to get the antigen swab test for visa renewal, otherwise I’m symptom free and did not feel the need for a test.

    You'll find out . . . no need to panic - you're in your late 30s (a positive in this scenario) - a low-risk group for lasting/severe damage.

    Best of!

Thank you , it's really not a big deal, I might be home the same day, but they said they might keep me there overnight for observation. A few years aho I had open heart surgery to correct a congenital Aortic Valve deformity , Now that was a big deal. The resulting scar tissue from the operation caused an electrical signal blockage that resulted with an increasingly lowering heart rate. It finally got to the point that I could no longer ignore it.

Thank you for the well wishes. Dont worry I am not going anywhere, I am not done annoying you all. LOL
Let's keep our fingers crossed that your condition is not covid, but even if it is , you are a strong young guy , I am sure you will be fine.
Not fun though , and certainly scary.
We will all keep you in our thought, and look forward to your updates , with the hope that you feel better soon.

Seen in a few news sites that Germany is having trouble getting people to accept the AZ vaccine and they are sat on over 1M doses.

It may not offer the same level of protection as some vaccines but it has been demonstrated to significantly protect against developing serious complications with COVID - the fact that the Germans were busy trashing the reputation of it before they had enough evidence is now sadly being felt with their citizens rejecting it.

That is total bullshit. It is you Brits who have that complex. I am well aware of the many failings of my home country and am not one to toot (pun intended) the horn of false patriotism.

They can easily get rid of those doses by using them on the under 50 years old.
Unfortunately that group was not the first one to be vaccinated.

Ageed and they could have altered plans accordingly (or given them away). They are now having to back track on sadly ill advised comments made under pressure when they were being lambasted for their programme failings.

The fact that whole rafts of Africa have little or no doses of any vaccine makes comments or decisions by those in richer countries to reject vaccines, which never the less offer perfectly acceptable levels of protection against mortality rather sickening.

Exactly this. Offer it to whoever wants it.

At the moment in Berlin they are getting 200 people a day filling 3800 appointments.

    That is just silly.

Latest on the worldwide spread of the coronavirus

European Union leaders will meet on Thursday to try to speed up the production and rollout of vaccines in a race against the emergence of new variants that some fear could bring a third wave of the pandemic across the continent.

    EUROPE

    * The World Health Organization is working with the European Commission to coordinate vaccine donations for other countries on the continent, the head of its European office said.

    * AstraZeneca will deliver 180 million vaccines to Europe in the second quarter, including 20 million to Italy, the head of its Italian unit was quoted as saying, while EU officials remained wary about supply.

    * France said it would bring in new restrictions for the area around its common border with Germany, as President Emmanuel Macron’s government tries to contain a surge of variants in the French region of Moselle.

    * Finland will go into a three-week lockdown starting on March 8 and is prepared to declare a state of emergency, the prime minister said.

    * Croatia said bars and restaurants can reopen outdoor terraces next week after a more than three-month closure due to the pandemic.

    * Hungary is to extend a partial lockdown until March 15 with infections expected to rise in the next two weeks, while it expects to get 1 million doses of Chinese Sinopharm’s vaccine in March and April, with 3.5 million more doses arriving in May.

    * New variants of COVID-19 risk a third wave in Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

    ASIA-PACIFIC

    * The Japanese government will end a state of emergency in five prefectures west of Tokyo at the end of this month, Kyodo news agency reported.

    * India announced an expansion of its vaccination programme but warned that breaches of coronavirus protocols could worsen an infection surge in many states.

    AMERICAS

    * The United States expects to roll out three to four million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine next week, pending authorization from the FDA, White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients said.

    MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA

    * The African Union is backing calls for drugmakers to waive some intellectual property rights on COVID-19 medicines and vaccines to speed up their rollout to poor countries, the head of its disease control body said.

    * Hospitals should prepare for a possible second wave and take steps to prevent the disease spreading, health authorities in the government-controlled part of Yemen said.

    * South Africa could spend up to 19.3 billion rand over the next three years to vaccinate most of its population, the Treasury said.

    MEDICAL DEVELOPMENTS

    * Pfizer and BioNTech said they are testing a third dose of their vaccine to better understand the immune response against new variants of the virus.

    * Moderna is working with U.S. government scientists to study an experimental booster shot that targets a concerning new variant of the coronavirus.

    ECONOMIC IMPACT

    * World stocks headed back towards record highs with a third day of gains and the dollar dropped to a three-year low on Thursday, after top Federal Reserve and European Central Bank officials took aim at rising bond market yields.

    * Thailand’s tourism-reliant economy was clearly affected by a recent COVID-19 outbreak as monthly private consumption and investment declined, making economic recovery more uneven, the central bank said.

I can imagine German ministers sitting around a table discussing wtf they could do with a million doses that their people don't want because they were told it's crap. One of them might come up with the bright idea to save a few wogs.

There is method to the over 65 vaccinating madness.
As much as I don't like it since I am not over 65 in makes sense .
Imagine if you could reduce deaths by covid by 80%, !!! by vaccinating 15% of the population. You would do it first , wouldn't you?
85% o f the deaths and the most of the hospitalizations occur to the 65% and over crowd. That's where you go first.

Yes that was basically what I was saying.
It is unfortunate that AstraZeneca doesn't see it in the same way and have instead targeted the bigger crowd, the younger than 60-65.

My second Moderna jab has not materialized. Should have had it last Friday but they didn’t have the vaccine. Still waiting for a call from the health department. In the meanwhile, the feds are running a max immunization site with Pfizer and getting the job done.

    Sorry, I misunderstood you.
Yea , I don't get the Astra Zeneca thing and the over 65 issue. From what I read , it's not that it is not affective for the 65 and over, but that they don't have enough data. I bet you when the data comes in Astra Zeneca would be as good for older people as it is for younger people.
What then "sorry we let you die, it was for your own good"

^ whilst countries are debating the efficacy of the AZ vaccine, which does stimulate immune response in all ages and thus should help in preventing serious complications, people are dying. I don't know which i'll get but if its the AZ i will be happy enough.

Precisely. And that's the key. My mum had her first Pfizer vaccine at City's ground () the other week, but the main thing is that if she does get the lurgy in her state, she's only gonna get a bit of a light flu at the most.

As it is we're seeing silly political games and point-scoring between countries on the back of Brexit, disparity in rollout and distribution etc.

The fact that the AZ/Oxford vac is so cheap and easy to store and transport makes it a vital part of the vaccination campaign.

    Great news!!
If you had it. and barely noticed even better. See if you can have a unibody test. Though I hear those unibody tests are not very reliable.
As far as the loss of smell. It might be a blessing. It comes handy at sex . wink wink, and you don't have to showier as often LOL
