Thank you for the post Mk.

Shit. Why has Trat province been designated a red zone?

According to the Thai site, page 8:

    Covid-19 Infected Situation Reports (Thailand)

Trat province has remained at zero cases. There does appear to be 49 in "Stat Quarantine" though. Brothel clients and gamblers no doubt.

It appears all "residents" will be inoculated in Feb - April. Whether foreigners are included/be required to pay, has not been stated.

I imagine there are hundreds of variants, each having a number of mutations by now.

Shit : some traveler in isolation in a hotel somehow managed to pass the new, more infectious COVID variant to a cleaner, who went to shops and around their local area.

Now the whole city I live in has been locked down for 3 days, while the contact tracing happens.

Just when we thought everything was OK.

So it's seems Chiang Mai's Warmup Cafe, which has always been a late opener and has probably enjoyed police protection over the years, have put their foot well and truly in it.

After getting lots of publicity for the 50th Covid case in Chiang Mai spreading her infection all over it, they are now being penalised for late opening and not enforcing covid safety restrictions.

Made the national press so there is no getting out of this one with a quiet cake tin to the police station.

As punishment, the venue's licence will likely be suspended for five years, or it could be revoked.

Don't inject the vaccine into your willy.

    Someone had better tell repeater.

A doctor who appears in a viral social media post claiming doctors have found the COVID-19 vaccine works best for men if it's injected directly into the penis has labelled it a "work of mischief".

The post, which has been circulating on Facebook since the new year, is clearly fake - but it's fooled many people, including some here in New Zealand, where it's been spread by pages set up by supporters of outgoing US President Donald Trump.

"And just like that, all the men on Earth became 'antivax' overnight," one person who shared it commented.

Evidence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in an Oropharyngeal Swab Specimen, Milan, Italy, Early December 2019

    Abstract
We identified severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 RNA in an oropharyngeal swab specimen collected from a child with suspected measles in early December 2019, ≈3 months before the first identified coronavirus disease case in Italy. This finding expands our knowledge on timing and mapping of novel coronavirus transmission pathways.

My mum got her jabs before the queen!

Covid-19: Queen and Prince Philip receive vaccinations

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have received Covid-19 vaccinations, Buckingham Palace has said.

A royal source said the vaccinations were administered on Saturday by a household doctor at Windsor Castle.

The source added the Queen decided to let it be known she had the vaccination to prevent further speculation.

The Queen, 94, and Prince Philip, 99, are among around 1.5 million people in the UK to have had at least one dose of a Covid vaccine so far.

People aged over 80 in the UK are among the high-priority groups who are being given the vaccine first.

The couple have been spending the lockdown in England at their Windsor Castle home after deciding to have a quiet Christmas at their Berkshire residence, instead of the traditional royal family gathering at Sandringham.

    He's 99, actually.

No, his gruesome appearance is genuine enough. The lighting and focus in the image look wrong to me, though, and the subjects' outlines are a little too sharp.

The Queen looks good for 94, but then she lives healthily, I think (no smoking or alcohol). Does/ did Prince Philip smoke or drink?

    point taken.

Though I did see a 118 y.o. Japanese woman in the news lately. She looked good for 118, and said she hopes to live until 120.

Re: the Queen and P. Philip looked good in their younger days. Philip looked better at ~30 than Charles at the same age.

Maybe their longevity is due to them being lizard aliens!

Btw, Boris Johnson is distantly related to the Queen. So the UK is now ran by lizards!

The autopsy on the Oporto IPO official who died two days after being vaccinated against Covid-19 concluded that the cause of death was not due to the vaccine, the government explained on 6 January.

"It is informed, without any reference to the cause of death, which is covered by the secrecy of justice, that the preliminary data resulting from the medical-legal autopsy carried out today [5 January] do not show any link between the death and the vaccine to which it was subjected," states a statement from the Ministry of Justice.

According to a report published by Jornal de Notícias, an operational assistant of the IPO (Portuguese Institute of Oncology) in Oporto, who was vaccinated against Covid-19 on 30 December, died suddenly on 1 January.

According to the same source, who cites a clarification from the institution, the assistant did not register any adverse reaction to the vaccine.

Reminds me of the old guy who goes to the doctor and the doc says "I'm afraid you only have weeks to live".

The man says "Nooooooo! Is there nothing I can do about it?".

The doc says "Well you can give up smoking, give up drinking, give up dancing and give up whoring".

He says "Will I live longer?".

The doc says "No, but it won't half fucking feel like it".

On a happier note, get my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow evening.

The Queen made Prince Philip give up smoking when they got married so its been many years since he smoked. Likes his beer though, apparently.

Coming to a black market near you: Covid-19 vaccine

Reports of the rich and connected jumping the line to get vaccinated is just the beginning, experts say.

The Covid-19 vaccine could wind up on the black market, experts are warning.

The much-criticized rollout by the Trump administration has laid the groundwork for a scenario in which the rich and the politically connected use their money and power to cut in line and get vaccinated before everyone else, they said.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has already threatened to impose fines of up to $1 million and revoke the licenses of doctors, nurses and others who don’t follow state and federal vaccine distribution guidelines, which currently place a priority on inoculating front-line health care workers and nursing home residents.

There have been reports in Miami of big hospital donors getting the first crack at the vaccine and in New York of tycoons flying their friends down to Florida to get inoculated with doses earmarked for a retirement home.

And in Colorado, some teachers are crying foul after nurses and educators in wealthier public school districts and private schools got inoculated first.
