I think the UK should reopen asap, in stages, with sensible precautions against current conditions and possibly a second wave.
UK leaders galvanised a compliant media and did a grand job herding the people into self-isolation, spacing and other measures. Now they realise they've overreacted in pretending to care for let's face it a few elderly lives over the economy, and will find it difficult to step back from that brink without making it obvious their plan was to be the cork bouncing whichever way they thought the people would want. Bad move, everyone knows what they want, while leaders are paid to decide what's best.
As for the NHS, which went from neglect to national glory on demand, once this is over it will be allowed to degrade once more, but this time with pomp and fanfare for each pitiful injection. And even these will only be met through higher taxes from a crippled economy.
This is a major worry. The implications are, well.......staggering.
Coronavirus live news: UN warns of 'biblical' famine; first case seen in Palestinian refugees in Lebanon | World news | The GuardianChinese doctors in Wuhan, where the coronavirus first emerged in December, say a growing number of cases in which people recover from the virus, but continue to test positive without showing symptoms, is one of their biggest challenges as the country moves into a new phase of its containment battle.
Those patients all tested negative for the virus at some point after recovering, but then tested positive again, some up to 70 days later, the doctors said.
Many have done so over 50-60 days.
The prospect of people remaining positive for the virus, and therefore potentially infectious, is of international concern, as many countries seek to end lockdowns and resume economic activity as the spread of the virus slows.

Missouri is suing the chinkies.... good luck with that.
Missouri is suing China over coronavirus impacts saying the country did 'little to stop the spread of the disease' - CNNMissouri is suing the Chinese government and other top institutions for the role they played in the coronavirus pandemic and the effects it has had on the state, accusing the country of covering up information, silencing whistleblowers and doing little to stop the spread of the disease, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced Tuesday.
At least 6,105 people have been confirmed to have the virus in Missouri and at least 229 have died, according to numbers from Johns Hopkins University.
Schmitt, in his official role as attorney general of Missouri, filed the civil lawsuit in federal court in the eastern district of Missouri.
The lawsuit, the first of its kind, claims "Chinese authorities deceived the public, suppressed crucial information, arrested whistleblowers, denied human-to-human transmission in the face of mounting evidence, destroyed critical medical research, permitted millions of people to be exposed to the virus, and even hoarded personal protective equipment—thus causing a global pandemic that was unnecessary and preventable."
Just a comment on the UK and how they are putting down deaths.
My great aunt died last week, she has Covid on her death certificate however the family are not aware of any Covid symptoms or a Covid test being taken. Apparently, now looking at normal UK rates of deaths in nursing homes, there's a sharp increase in Covid deaths, and an almost similar decline in annual pneumonia deaths... I did mention weeks back how conventional practices of writing cause of death on UK death certificates has always been rather dodgy (pneumonia being the catch all), yet an esteemed member seemed to know better... Well, it seems that (in some senses understandably as doctors are under stress and massively overworked...) Covid-19 might be the all-in-one-answer of convenience at the moment. It's nigh on impossible to know accurate numbers of Covid cases/deaths in the UK nevermind anywhere else.
Cycling should be banned!!!
Sorry to hear Betty.
There's some interesting stats on the ITV news last night.
There are also Covid related deaths that are not being included in the figures
Basically people that have died because they are scared to attend A&E, strokes etc.
If you take last year's UK death figures month by month then compare the difference , then add on the covid hospital deaths.
A truer indication of the numbers is quite startling.
John Hopkins Uni have them on their Total Cases and Total Deaths charts. The USA is the one missing from the Total Deaths list.
(see chart above)
Presumably USA has had ZERO deaths.
Although Worldmeter has USA at the No.1 spot,
at 45,343 total deaths.
A slight of hand, fake factual reporting or an attempt to deceive it's gullible citizens?

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
A big BINGO on that -
From WHO:
WHO said "Covid-19" would be the new official name for the deadly coronavirus that was first identified in China on December 31.
The WHO had earlier given the virus the temporary name of "2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease"
"We now have a name for the #2019nCoV disease:
COVID-19.
First Covid-19 deaths in US occurred WEEKS EARLIER than previously thought
"People in the US were dying of the novel coronavirus weeks before authorities officially reported the first death linked to the disease, new data published in Santa Clara County, California reveals. Autopsies performed on two people who died at home on February 6 and February 17 show that their tissues were infected with Covid-19, Santa Clara health authorities said in a statement, adding that another previously unreported death associated with the coronavirus had occurred on March 6.
The first coronavirus-linked death in America was originally believed to have occurred on February 29. At that time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that a man in his 50s had died in Washington state.
The California cases were not previously associated with the epidemic as these victims died at a time when "only individuals with a known travel history and who sought medical care for specific symptoms" were being tested, the statement said.
The news suggests that the virus may have been circulating in the US earlier than previously thought. Santa Clara County Executive Jeff Smith said the fact that several people were apparently infected "right around the beginning of February and late January" – and that two of them had passed away – meant "the virus has been around for a while."
According to Mercury News, both of the fatal cases are believed to have originated in the community and were not associated with foreign travel. This also means that community transmission in America had started well before the first such case was officially reported on February 26.
The US has seen more than 800,000 confirmed coronavirus cases to date. More than 45,000 Americans died of Covid-19."

As dire as it sounds, I believe that governments should focus on reopening the economy with caution and measures taken to protect the health and safety of everyone. We can't hide forever until a cure or vaccine is found. The pandemic might kill 5-8% of the population, but hunger threatens to wipe-out the entire population. Life must go on..... or whatever is left of it.
I am so unlucky that if I fall into a barrel full of D*ick**s, I'd come out sucking my own thumb!
The U.S. health insurance companies must be crapping themselves.
