Holy shit ! That makes a lot of sense and explains a lot.
Problem now is....no mask to buy in Germany. We can only pray that Merkel is first in line

I'll leave it up to you:

The EU called on healthy private individuals not to put on masks and to use disinfectants because of the risk of corona. They should be reserved for medical staff and the sick themselves, because they are ineffective as a preventive measure anyway.
    ......and now ?

The paper also highlighted the risk that the virus could remain afloat even after the carrier had left the bus.

The scientists warned that the coronavirus could survive more than five days in human faeces or bodily fluids.

They said the study proves the importance of washing hands and wearing face masks in public places because the virus can linger in the air attached to fine droplet particles.

“Our advice is to wear a face mask all the way [through the bus ride],” they added.

Either the Chinese are dumb as shit or care more for their people then the EU.

Masks were an obvious need, and I've been wearing them all the time for weeks. As we've repeatedly said, Europe does not appear to be ready despite all the evidence now available to them.

Jetstar; using the Corona virus to maximize passenger loads.

Just got told that I'll have to do a 10 hour layover in Singapore and then also pay for an overnight in BKK to make, at additional cost, a changed flight to Chiang Rai.

The customer service person was happy to ensure me that they could give me a refund for the Darwin - Bangkok trip and hoped I had a happy day.

Point to note; there are no alternative flights. So I'm fucked.

Only choice is to pay for a flight change to the the following day and do an overnight in BKK.

What got me was that the conversation I had with a real Jetstar person who blamed it all on the virus. I can see no logic in this what so ever.

Rather I see it as building up the passenger cohort in SIN - a 10 hour layover - and then getting a full plane to BKK>

    Cnuts.

If the worse comes to the worse, there is no effective quarantine or real immunity. It just goes around. It is highly contagious, but basically non-deadly:- mortality rates are low, and even that does not take into account all of the unreported cases. So we will just get more immune to it over time, just like we did with measles etc. This is really nothing new.

So why make our societies replicate some kind of sci-fi movie, out of fear? Get on with life.

What you say makes sense but when one has an additional medical issue things kind of change. One ends up with a bit of a Yo Yo situation.
Take the risk of travelling to get recommended treatment for Multiple Myeloma or don't go cos, with a depleted immune system the chances of picking up the virus are good.
    It's an interesting conundrum.
Any one know where I can buy Phenobarbital at a reasonable rate.
    Serious question.

^^ Jaysus, sabang. Where to start? We don’t know anything about this virus and there is no cure. A whole lot of people will get sick and overwhelm hospitals so even more people will be affected who don’t have coronavirus. While what you get at may be true in the long haul, if people aren’t quarantined now this will happen too fast to handle.

The on-the-street reports from Italy are not in good in how serious the symptoms are and how people are not heeding government advice to not go out. If there are no changes in how the virus is spreading, it should afflict a million people 30 days from now outside of China. It is definitely coming to a person near you.

    You're kidding right.
Mortality rates are high, 4-5 %, if we don't take into consideration unreported cases. Due to the nature of this thing however, with many people having very mild to no symptoms at all we can assume there are a LOT of unreported cases which means the actual mortality rate is much lower than evidenced.
It is very deadly to older people.

We don’t know anything about this virus and there is no cure
there is no "cure" for any virus, they need a host cell to replicate and only vaccinations can prevent the virus taking up residence in the host.
there will soon be a vaccination for this, just as there are for all the influenza variants that appear each year.

viruses do not contain a ribosome, ( a ribosome is a complex intracellular molecule that is capable of synthesising proteins in a cell ) so the virus is unable to make proteins and hence reproduce, so they are totally dependent on their host. they are the only type of microorganism that cannot reproduce without a host cell.

after contacting a host cell, a virus inserts genetic material into the host cell and that genetic material takes over that host cells ribosomal functions.

after infecting the cell, the virus continues to reproduce, but it produces more viral protein and genetic material and the host cell is unable to function as normal. its ribosome has been re programmed so to speak and now takes orders from the virus.

    viruses are parasites.

if they were to kill all their hosts, then the viruses would soon die out, that goes against nature, so no virus has a 100% kill rate.

^ There are antiviral medications to treat the flu which work. Nothing exists to treat COVID.

    CDC website..

When used for treatment, antiviral drugs can lessen symptoms and shorten the time you are sick by 1 or 2 days. They also can prevent serious flu complications, like pneumonia. For people at high risk of serious flu complications, treatment with antiviral drugs can mean the difference between milder or more serious illness possibly resulting in a hospital stay. CDC recommends prompt treatment for people who have influenza infection or suspected influenza infection and who are at high risk of serious flu complications.

Elderly people and folk with other ailments.
Multiple Myeloma, no cure, presents an interesting enigma.
Do I fly, 10 hours in SIN there and back to Darwin our do I just give up and stay at home here in the bush?
    And await the inevitable?

antivirals only work properly if administered within the first 24-48 hours of the viral attack, and yes, they can reduce many of the unpleasant symptoms of influenza.

they also have an inhibitory effect on the immune system and people who regularly use antivirals may compromise their immune system.

i'm sure a vaccination for covid will soon be synthesised, but in the meantime, mother nature will have her wicked way and we poor humans will be taught a lesson.

Italy (977), Iran (881) and Spain (443) top the charts in another daily surge of 3,600 cases.

Italy has broken the 10,000 barrier.

172 new cases in Denmark, a huge jump to 261 active cases.

Where on earth did you get the idea that we got immune to Measles?

Vaccination is what has kept it at bay, creating "herd immunity".

No vaccine + Measles exposure = Infection.

It's why these dumb "antivaxxer" wankers need a good kicking.
