Didn't think of that. Bars are a perfect storm for something like this, and though Chinese tend not to frequent the public ones it needs just one tainted farang to do the honours, and from there the system starts creaking.

Can't start to imagine the consequences, both local and national, but at what point would bars be ordered to close in Thailand?

It's funny listening to baldy orange cunto talking how "ready" the US is.

For a start you have 82 million with no or inadequate health care in a country whose healthcare system is ranked 27th in the world.

Who knows with these sects??? They have created a massive problem in Korea by refusing testing and spreading it all over the country...

'Superspreader' in South Korea infects nearly 40 people with coronavirus | Live Science

This is old news, the numbers are much higher.

So, I was talking to the wife about the woman who refused testing, the super-spreader, and:

The wife says: "Is she dead already?"
I say: "The mortality rate is low, so why should she be dead?"
She says: "Because lots of people want to kill her... "

A typical Thai conversation, I thought...

All Peace Corps being evacuated this week. Now as serious as this sounds it is more due to the fact that the suspension of flights to countries outside of Mongolia limits medical evacuation choices, so they seem to be playing it extra safe. That said, I can't help but feel I should put things in piles in case I need to leave in a hurry. Like Bettyboo, I am supposed to be signing a contract this week, but I guess that is going to be delayed. If it carries on like this I might have to take a break with my studies, as the last module requires research in my place of work. Time for a walk and clear the mind.

Germans are greedy, arrogant and dumb. No need to point the finger on the Chinese.
Here in Germany you will not catch the virus if you fill out your papers correctly

ITB Berlin changes rules due to COVID 2019

ITB changed access requirements due to Coronavirus

The safety of our visitors is our highest goal. This is a known phrase often used when there is nothing else to say. 100,000 travel professionals from all corners of the globe are ready with tickets in hand to fly to Berlin and attend ITB 2020. Some already said they canceled, but the investment to exhibit at ITB is tremendous. Money talks for many exhibitors and it appears the City of Berlin cannot afford to write off such an event. Berlin owns the majority of Messe Berlin.

Today ITB put new rules in place to “secure” the safety of their visitors, exhibitors, and staff.
While events get canceled in many European cities, including Frankfurt and Cologne, the German Capital Berlin shows resilience. The founder of the tourism resilience movement the Hon. Minister of Tourism from Jamaica, Edward Bartlett is staying safely home because to attend parliamentary meetings.
Mohammed Hersi, Chairman of the Kenya Tourism Federation has a reminder stating on Twitter: Cost-benefit analysis, better off postponing the fair to a later date. Can you imagine all those delegates running such a risk-taking back the virus to their hotels & firms they run in their country? This is the creme de la creme of global tourism. Not worth the risk even for Berlin . UNWTO please take notice. While crowds are being discouraged in many places ITB will bring together the who is who in world tourism. Corona is not a terror threat that you can physically mitigate.
    ITB Berlin issued this statement:

As We have been instructed by the local public health authorities all exhibitors at ITB Berlin are required to fill out a declaration. This declaration is a condition for access to the exhibition grounds and serves to identify persons belonging to a COVID 19 risk group.

The risk group criteria are as follows:
    · A recent stay in one of the risk areas as defined by the Robert Koch Institute (within the last 14 days):
China: Hubei Province (including the city of Wuhan) and the cities of Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Taizhou in Zhejiang Province.
    Iran: Qom Province
Italy: Province of Lodi in the region of Lombardy and the city of Vo in the Province of Padua in the region of Veneto.
    South Korea: Gyeongsangbuk-do (NorthGyeongsang Province)

The list of risk areas is being regularly updated by the Robert Koch Institute. Updates can be found on their website
Visitors meeting the following condition will not be permitted:

    • During the last 14 days contact with persons who have tested positive for infection with SARS-CoV-2.

    • Any signs of typical symptoms, i.e. fever, coughing or breathing difficulties.

    • Anyone belonging to the risk group or who refuses to fill out the declaration will not be admitted to ITB Berlin.

This is a precautionary measure in order to protect those participating in ITB Berlin and the public in general. The Federal Ministry of Health and the Robert Koch Institute have assessed that the health risk in Germany remains low (cf. www.rki.de).

Currently, no restrictions on entry to Germany have been imposed on Chinese, Asian or Italian citizens. The decision was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the council of EU health ministers that still applies. Accordingly, before arriving in EU countries air travelers may be asked if they have been in coronavirus-infected regions or have come into contact with infected persons.
We regret any inconvenience caused. However, the safety and health of all visitors and exhibitors at ITB Berlin has the utmost priority for us, and we are following the instructions of the relevant public health authorities to ensure that.

For that reason, in order to protect exhibitors and visitors, our cleaning and disinfection measures will remain in place. All participants are also advised to observe the hygiene measures recommended by the Robert Koch Institute: regular and thorough washing of hands, as well as avoiding coughing, sneezing and shaking hands.

Let’s hope everyone will fill out their declaration truthfully. The German Federal Minister of Health Spahn doesn’t want people to worry saying, we’re prepared. After he said this 2 more cases of the virus came about in Germany.

Southeast Asian States Worry About Their Citizens, Sources in Virus-Affected Countries

Prime Minister Hun Sen called on China Wednesday to airlift raw materials to Cambodia to keep the garment sector in the country working through the coronavirus epidemic that has stifled industry and travel around the region.

Hun Sen’s appeal, made at a speech in the presence of China’s ambassador, came as Southeast Asian countries continued to struggle with the impact of the COVID-19 sickness on their economic ties with China and the thousands of citizens living there or in coronavirus-hit South Korea.

Cambodia, whose textile sector gets some 60 percent of its inputs from China, could leasing aircraft from Phnom Penh's airport to help transport raw materials if China agreed, Hun Said said at a speech to open a highway.

“We could rent the cargo planes from Cambodia to transport raw materials from China,” he said.

“It could help the survival of our workers who are facing the loss of their jobs due to the factories being shut down, because of the raw materials shortage,” he said, speaking in the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.

    Wang gave no reply.

On Monday, Hun Sen unveiled plans to give tax breaks to garment factories, as well as other subsidies from the national budget.

He proposed paying workers 40 percent of the current minimum wage for up to six months in the event that production is suspended, while the government provides workers an additional 20 percent of the minimum wage over the same period.

Some factories in Cambodia have decided to suspend their workers for a short time due to the materials shortage and the effect of the Covid-19 in China.

In Vietnam, meanwhile, the country’s national steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control called for a quarantine on all Vietnamese people returning from South Korea, , which the largest national total of COVID-19 anywhere outside China, where the virus first emerged.

The Vietnamese Health Ministry has mandated that all passengers coming from coronavirus affected areas be quarantined for 14 days.

The Vietnamese government -- which estimates that there are some 200,000 Vietnamese people living, studying or working in South Korea – has ordered the ministries of education, training and labor to provide lists of students, laborers and others from Vietnam who reside in South Korea.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor said Monday it was working on a plan to bring home about 20,000 Vietnamese overseas laborers in affected areas like Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

The ministries were also told to spread the word to citizens with relatives living in South Korean to avoid travel to other areas in South Korea. Vietnam has imposed strict controls at border gates and airports on travelers from or through the infected areas and repatriated Vietnamese would have to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

On Tuesday, Ho Chi Minh City Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said an outbreak would catch the city of 9 million people without enough doctors or nurses.

He told state media that city’s hospitals can hold only 900 patients, while if the 322 communes or districts in the city had just three infected cases each, it would mean that nearly 1,000 patients would require quarantine and treatment. These requirements would exceed the city’s pool of available medical personnel, he said.

In Myanmar--which has millions of its citizens living outside the country in Thailand, China, South Korea and Japan—there is rising concern about the coronavirus, even though the country has not had a case.

On Tuesday, State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi said that her government aimed to evacuate the Myanmar citizens who has been stranded in China and want to return to Myanmar. It was not clear when this would happen, amid airport closures, quarantines and other travel restrictions.

Myanmar migrant worker Than Lay, working in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, said he was getting by on simple foods, with roads and markets near him closed.

“I’ve relied on a small food stall in the neighborhood for my daily meals,” he told RFA’s Myanmar Service.

“We can’t have a decent meal since the markets are closed. We have only dried rations like rice, cooking oil, salts, eggs and seasoning. We don’t have fresh meat and fish now,” added Than Lay, who is one of an estimated two million Myanmar nationals living in China.

Similar restrictions were affecting many of the 50,000 Myanmar expatriates in South Korea, said Win Myint Oo, a Myanmar resident of Seoul.

“It is almost impossible to get out of Seoul for now since there are blockages. Very few people go out and don’t go to the crowded places,” he told RFA.

Zeyar Tin Win Htin, a Myanmar diplomat working in South Korea, said his office was scrambling to help migrant workers keep their papers in order amid the epidemic.

“As for our embassy, we have been providing services related citizenship, such as the extension of passport or certificate of identification,” he said.

All schools in Japan told to close until April over virus outbreak

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday asked all elementary, junior high and high schools nationwide to close from Monday through the students’ spring break, which typically ends in early April.

“Efforts have been made to prevent the spread of infection among children in each region, and these one or two weeks will be an extremely critical period,” Abe told a meeting of key Cabinet ministers on the coronavirus outbreak crisis.

“The government attaches the top priority to the health and safety of children, among others,” he said.

Later Thursday, the health and welfare ministry said Abe’s request does not apply to day care centers for children and after-school facilities for elementary school students.

Hard to believe but there's been a village meeting in the next village concerning an elderly couple who've just returned from Japan. General consensus of village is that they need to be locked up in their house for a couple of weeks. Strangely no one mentioned them going to the local clinic, which is actually very good, the clinic that is.

I sense the sweet aroma of panic.

They don't need to go to the clinic if they haven't got any symptoms of corona, but they should avoid meeting other people during the incubation time which is two weeks.
