By the way, there is now a growing scientific consensus that the "Spanish Flu" did not originate in Europe or the Americas, but was spread round the world by the 140,000 chinky labourers that travelled around at that time.

That's why they're called the "Yellow Peril" then.

The best answer that scientists at this time can offer is “the answer is unknown.”There is so much that still needs to be learned about the novel coronavirus. But studies of other coronaviruses have shown that immunity does wear off over time. And the question is how long might immunity to COVID-19 last -- months or years?
But in the present moment, basically no one has any antibodies that might eventually protect against infection or reinfection. Because COVID-19 is so new, there is “essentially no immunity against this virus in the population,” Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases
Now here comes the part where you need to use your brain, which I doubt very much you have.
Why do most scientist say this virus is here to stay? Think you can put 1 + 1 together ?

Now go off to your sandbox and play with your mates Boris and Donald.

So why then do you state that there is no immunity? You know better than the scientists?

Coronavirus: Inside UK clinic where volunteers get paid up to PS4,000 to be infected in race to find vaccine - Mirror Online

    Interesting statement in the article:

Dr Catchpole said: “We want very healthy individuals so we can be sure that the disease that’s given is controlled. Then they come in and have a blood sample. We’re testing for pre-existing immunity. We’ve all been exposed to family members of the coronavirus, we’ve all got some levels of immunity.

“We need to screen people so we’re only giving the virus to those who would get sick. That can eliminate up to 80% of subjects.”

I see all top level footy games across Europe are postponed. When you scan fixtures across other sports it presents a similar picture at top level, jump down a couple of leagues in rugger and the games still seem to be on. If the local town game is on the likelihood of affected spectators could be in the order of 35-50

Just a quick admin note: I've posted in the Vietnam thread news of their suspension of arrivals from the Schengen area and UK.

To maximise visibility, please post travel updates in the relevant travel forums and put a link here, as they'll be easier to find.

    Cheers.

Metro Manila will have a "soft curfew" (8 pm to 5 am) during the "community quarantine" period of March 15 to April 14. Exceptions from curfew are workers (e.g. Call center shift workers, and they have to produce IDs) as well as movement of goods. Employees living in nearby provinces but have work in the metropolis are also exempt from the lockdown, but working from home is encouraged. Schools in Metro Manila are closed. Senior citizens are advised to stay home. There's an exodus now of ppl in bus stations & airports - people going to the provinces to escape the lockdown which will begin after midnight tonight.

Metro Manila to be placed under curfew during lockdown – MMDA

64 confirmed cases now in PI; 3 confirmed cases in Batangas province which is near me. One of the cases is a worker (OFW) who returned from Italy.

Philippines reports 12 new COVID-19 cases, total now at 64 | News | GMA News Online

Quezon City is the most populous city in the metropolis and has declared a state of calamity.

Quezon City declares state of calamity amid COVID-19 threat

    64 cases, 5 deaths.

1st death was a Chinese national, 40+ male from Wuhan (tourist). 2nd death was a 67 y.o. Filipina with no travel history - must have obtained it via community infection. Her husband, also a senior, is also positive and in hospital. Both have no travel history and no known contact to anyone who has been to infected countries. They just happen to live in the metropolis (which is a petri dish) and are seniors.

I've read the FB post of the woman's daughter - shared by a colleague. It was sad. The daughter & her brothers are living/ working in the US and they were not able to visit their mom in hospital. They are also not allowed to visit their dad now, who is still under treatment.

UNITED STATES DECLARES NATIONAL EMERGENCY [source]

Coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said:
"These kind of things generally run out in a few months. Hopefully, we'll make it several weeks. Eight, nine, whatever weeks, but I can't give you a number, because it depends on how successful we are" (with mitigation and containment measures). Earlier today, Dr. Fauci had said that: [
    video]

    • It’s certainly going to get worse before it gets better
    • Crisis will last for at least several weeks and possibly 2 months or more
    • Complete shut down like in Italy and China is not off the table. "We just have to respond as things evolve over the days and over the weeks"

Worst Case Scenario by CDC (if no actions taken) [source]
Between 160 million and 214 million people in the U.S. could be infected (Worst case scenario). Dr. Lawler, an infectious diseases specialist, provided a “best guess” projections of 96 million people
Could last months or even over a year
As many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die. Dr. Lawler’s calculations: 480,000 deaths, which he said was conservative
By contrast, 20,000 to 50,000 people have died from flu-related illnesses this season according to CDC.
2.4 million to 21 million people in the U.S. could require hospitalization, potentially crushing the nation’s medical system, which has only about 925,000 staffed hospital beds. Fewer than a tenth of those are for people who are critically ill

Saudi suspends international flights for two weeks over Covid-19

RIYADH, 2 hours, 26 minutes ago

In a major move, Saudi Arabia has announced the suspension of all international flights, except in exceptional cases for a period of two weeks, starting from 11am tomorrow (March 15), considering this as an exceptional official holiday for both citizens and expatriates who were unable to return due to the suspension of flights or because of being quarantined on return to the kingdom by the Ministry of Health or being subjected to self-isolation at their homes, reported state news agency SPA.

Visa restrictions for citizens from VoA and high-risk countries effective March 13th"

"Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda have signed an announcement which temporarily suspends the visa on arrival facility for citizens of 18 countries and visa free entry for citizens of three COVID-19 high-risk countries, effective from March 13th.

The Prime Minister called an urgent meeting this morning with Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Interior Minister Anupong and director-general of the Consular Services Department, to discuss the visa restrictions, after concerns were raised that they may breach bilateral agreements with some of the countries involved.

The Prime Minister also signed an order appointing a committee to manage the Centre for the Management of the COVID-19 Situation, chaired by the Prime Minister.

The committee comprises 16 ministers, the national police chief, the secretary-general of National Security Council, secretary-general to the Prime Minister and the permanent secretary of the PM’s Office.

They'll probably issue a list of the countries in due course.

Given this weekend's announcements from multiple countries imposing some kind of restriction/quarantine I'm guessing Monday on the stock market is gonna be quite bloody.
