Thank God this virus is not discriminating. This way we might get all the famous and rich people to help and chip in. By the way where is Geldorf when you need him?

Seattle is pretty quiet but there are pockets of people out and about. The governor canceled gatherings of 250+ so no concerts etc.

    Entertainment, sports, travel.

    3 industries being completely foked.

Will 'gatherings' include nightclubs and pubs that don't have a listed act playing with tickets on sale?

I guess Korver in the NBA was confirmed to have it. They cancelled the game and sent everyone home. NBA to announce either games played with no Fans or stop the season.

Concerts, raves, big night clubs all closed.

I can see those masks becoming the new plastic, floating around and being littered everywhere and the virus stays in them for, what is it 9 hours, or 2 or 3 days.

The coronavirus is in fact saving a lot more people than it kills by cutting down the traffic and Chinese factoriy emissions

If they start closing pubs and bars that have a capacity over 250, or whatever, it will be felt.

11 Thais recently confirmed after sharing spliffs and drinks at a party. Others there that didn't partake didn't get infected.

@ Herman... face masks are not as effective as many claim. So I agree, you do not need a mask to prevent Covid 19. The challenge is the time from conception and exhibiting signs. People just do not know. I watch people with masks who wear them improperly. They constantly touch and reposition them thus touching their sweat and spittle.

Best approach is keep your distance from people and wash your hands frequently.

Masks are good on infected people to stop them spreading the germs through sneezing/coughing.

The advice is that washing your hands frequently is more effective then masks.

Washing with soap ... apparently the soap breaks down the natural fat on your hands.

BTW CCC, washing your hands with Vodka doesn't work as the Alcohol percentage needs to be up closer to 60% to be effective.

Not necessarily David. Make up a drink and then splash a bit on your hands. I see it as a win.

Although some people seem to get quite emotive on the subject of masks, this is the main protection.

While, noted, there may be some small benefit in reducing the risk of transmitting it if you have it, at the moment this is vastly outweighed by the fact that most people simply do not know how to properly use masks, and are more likely to increase the risk to themselves that decrease it.

I wonder how many of the mask advocates remember to wash their hands before putting it on, to wash their hands after taking it off, and to wash their hands if they touch the mask while wearing it. I wonder how many religiously follow that masks are single use - and that means no dropping it down to take a sip of your coffee.

It is almost certain that the main route of transmission is contact driven. Which means wash your hands. Often.

This is old news David. The reason behind it is that they didn't want people to panic and buy up all the mask. Right now we have a shortage of masks and gloves in Europe. If it is so ineffective please tell me why "big shots" at meetings are wearing masks? Washing hands is good, wearing gloves is even better. A mask and gloves prevents your hands from touching your face.

That's the crux of it all Nid. If people used them properly they could be a benefit. IMHO if you exhibit signs of being ill as a responsible individual one should stay home. Why go anywhere thus the mask can be saved for the medical community

The masks are a red herring as are the 1m distance issue. The self issolation thing is fine but you've probably already passed it on by the time you get symptoms.

Looks like the UK is moving to the next phase (delay) with another COBRA meeting today and rumour has it that people will be asked to stay at home and all gatherings stopped. Not sure how you stop people shopping. The sites i work at seem to have those blown air heating systems throughout the buildings which to me seem like an ideal way to ensure as many people as possible get exposed. If everyone stays home and it takes off i have visions of the classic plague lines "Bring out your dead" with wagons circulating collecting the bodies. Still curry night tonight.

Kuwait will suspend all commercial flights leaving and arriving at Kuwait City International Airport starting on Friday to halt the spread of the coronavirus, while effectively shutting the Gulf state down for two weeks.

The government also gave employees a two-week holiday starting on Thursday until March 26.

"This decision does not include cargo aircraft and planes carrying Kuwaitis [evacuated from abroad]," a government spokesman said of the flight ban. "Gatherings in markets, cafes and health clubs will also be prohibited."

You are correct. The chinkies did their best to cover it all up, which made the problem exponentially worse.

    As did Iran.

    Re: Kuwait:

The first thing that happened was that every fucker descended on every supermarket and cold store, thus creating lots of public gatherings.....

    And empty supermarkets.
