I feel for your daughter, being in the front line . . . but I don't think the people are ignorant, simply frightened . . . but then if they watch Fox or listen to Trump they should be happy that it will "disappear like magic"

I hope she stays well, JPPR2

My eldest daughter is studying medicine in Aus and on their visits to the hospital the staff are all quite well 'insulated', as it were. Well, we'll see - she's going off to the US on a birthday-holiday in July . . . hopefully it will have played run its course by then

^ it's also up to the government and health authorities to make sure healthcare professionals are not overburdened for no reason - I've explained how this is being done in Korea; the US should follow the same procedures.

^^ Ha! There’s been NO information on a local level on what to do if one suspects they have coronavirus. What else would they do but go to the hospital where the emergency room will be overburdened. As of yesterday, people are getting frightened around here.

On a side note, let's hope the rest of the Premier League season is cancelled with no winner declared.

    That's poor.

Korea has forced alerts with all the information on all mobile networks - I get them each morning, and cannot clear the screen until I've opened the message. Hospitals and clinics don't let you in if you show signs of the virus or want virus testing - there are special places that deal with the CoronVirus with clear procedures.

The alerts range from telling you what to do if you feel unwell, what the symptoms are, the emergency CoronaVirus number to call. Also, people who have the virus in your area have their last week or so locational movements sent to you, so you can avoid the places they went if you want to.

I've shown screenshots of all of that.

Other countries should be doing the same.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

The people at the top need to start paying more attention.
Health minister Nadine Dorries diagnosed with coronavirus
Conservative is first MP to test positive, and had recently been to reception with Boris Johnson

The health minister Nadine Dorries has become the first MP to be diagnosed with coronavirus, prompting concerns about the potential spread of the illness at Westminster and even at Downing Street, where she attended a reception last week.

The Department of Health and Social Care DHSC confirmed that Dorries, the Conservative MP for Mid Bedfordshire since 2005 and a bestselling author of fiction, had tested positive for the infection.
The identity of the individual who infected her is unknown. Focus will now fall on tracking down and testing the potentially hundreds of people Dorries will have been in contact with in the past week, both in parliament and at the health department.
She also attended a Downing Street reception last week for International Women’s Day where the prime minister, Boris Johnson, and his fiancee, Carrie Symonds, were among guests present.

    welcome to our world,

staying home actually doesn't stop the spread, the best way to combat this and be done with it, is to expose everyone, quarantine is simply creating new clusters ready to explode later

we are buying time, but yeah the medical staff is over-exposed

As Michael O. said, the sad thing is we all been warned. Just like climate change, pollution and so many other things. Interesting is the part with all the drugs being made in China and India. I thought only the dumb Germans had that problem. Germany used to be the drugstore of the world! Now we outsourced it all. I like his sentence: "Imagine all the ammunition for the military was made in China!"
At least the U.S. has enough space to feed its population. Germany only has space for economic migrants.

^^the whistleblower in China, Dr. Li Wenliang, was a gealthy man in his 30s. Exposure to the virus led to his demise (and maybe lack of PPE in the early stages, bcos his govt was in denial).

In PI, 49 cases now. Apparently numbers were underreported bcos of the lack of test kits. Our local FDA has approved the use of test kits made by scientists from a local university. This will reduce costs, since apparently the health Dept only had 2k kits, from Japan & WHO, which costs 6k pesos each. The locally produced kits will cost around 2k pesos.

Schools in Metro Manila are closed until Friday bcos many of the cases are in the metropolis. There's local transmission already - some were identified as coming from returning OFWs. Probably some cases from the Chinese online casino workers too, though they're not pinpointing those yet. But businesses in Chinatown, as well as some hotpot restos, are down. Was in Mall of Asia in Manila recently - definitely fewer ppl & lots of empty restos (this was a weeknight, though).

This is not the flu. It is up to everyone to do their bit to stop the spread to help the vulnerable.

Selfish wankers that don't care are better off going and topping themselves for all their worth to the human race. They'd be doing everyone a favour.

Meanwhile, without a proper response, it is going to overwhelm health care services the world over.
