Your input on this issue lately has been total S. Florida cringe.

I am with Hal and Stumpy, I live in South Australia population 1.75 million, where 4 people are purported to have died from COVID in the last two years.

Why on earth do I have to limit visitors to my house, wear a mask in indoor settings and have my movements tracked?

    Enough is enough.

Honestly Cyrille, I did not expect the TD audience to step back and start to wonder about all this but rather just think anyone who challenges it are just nutters and loose cannons. Its all about fear and compliance and like many old folks I know, they just line up and comply. I mean why shouldn't they, The fear mongering has them all shaking in their boots. Its not any different then the constantly changing controls limits for High BP, Cholesterol, Diabetes etc. Whatever they say...we must believe. So mask up. stay home God forbid you might be a carrier.

You’ve been caricaturing the counterargument, and posting about how people who disagree with you can stay home and shiver in fear.

That’s insulting too. It’s just a few simple steps, but you’re starting to sound like deeks and his ‘face daipers’ nonsense.

I’m really glad I’m in Thailand, where a few pragmatic steps are not a big deal.

    Have a good evening.

Let me ask this. What happens when all those poor countries hit that magic number of population vaccinated? Do we stop the panic and fear mongering? I doubt it. Some country will shoot up a red flare and off we go again. I sadly do not see an end to this anytime soon, its far to political now with loads of misinformation. So stock up on masks and alcohol gel, stay home, plan as part of traveling being at the whim of quarantines. Plan on PCR tests now until you die. Good stuff eh?

If the hardest thing you've ever done in your life is having to wear a piece of cloth over your face, you probably need to get out more, whinging Boomers.

Remember at the outset, “herd immunity” was going to save us. The experts have gone a bit quiet on that topic.

That wasn't the experts, that was the politicians taking the less 'hard' option. Turned out they were wrong, that's why it went quiet.

If all the COVID particles in the world can fit in a can of coke, do you really think wearing masks is the answer?

Cheers Cyrille. I am not whinging and do not lump me into a bucket with Deeks. I am challenging the nonsense. Look, wearing a mask is a relatively small inconvenience but an annoying one because of the blanket rules. It would be OK if that mandate was for tight indoor situations only but everywhere you go? Out walking alone? In a car with family and friend? Sitting on a beach? Riding a bike? Riding a scooter? Taking a hike? Some of us are active and do things. I hate the fact that as soon as I near my gate at the house I have to to make sure I have a mask or god forbid someone 50 yds a way might see me and complain.

Anyway. I will keep vaccinating and do my part, what choice do we have...right?...Which is my point. Life in a vacuum. Stay home. Do not travel, do not see family and friends, spend wads of money for quarantine. Grand times eh?

If all the covid particles in the world were contained in a can of coke, that would be fantastic. Many people can't fathom the size of the universe, also can't fathom how many small particles can fit in a can of coke, or realise how few it takes to multiply exponentially into many 2 litre bottles of coke.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

Thanks, I don't drink Coke, or any soft drink.
If your best comeback is don't drink Coke, my advice to you is to get better fact-based arguments. But thanks for trying.

If you think that it was politicians that concocted the “herd immunity” myth then I suggest you are quite some distance from the facts.

In Thailand? Up here it's easy to forget covid even exists. We wear masks only when in the shops/shopping centres and when entering restaurants. No-one wears a mask in the village or on the farm. Riding a motorbike, yes, but only because of the dust.
I had to return home this morning because I forgot my phone and needed it to show my vac certs...that's about as annoying as it's been so far.

The fpp2 masks were enforced in Bavaria for self protection...surgical masks only protect others from you. We always travel with fpp2 masks and hand disinfectant to use as necessary.

Herd Immunity is a thing, it was the worst case/lowest cost option offered to the British gubmint, and initially they ran with it. Of course they were offered other options that cost more, but why go with the more expensive option? Governments aren't smart enough to come up herd immunity, it's just the cheapest option they chose.

I suggest this is how close you are to facts:
    Facts --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> You

There is a global problem with Covid 19. Governments are dealing with it in different ways because the system for dealing with Covid is based on science, demography and health service infrastructure, because that is also different depending which part of the world you look at.

There are different types of democracy across the world and there are also plenty of authoritarian countries where governments can demand the response they require from the people.

If people are healthy, but Covid has stopped them from working, the results of that stoppage will vary according to location and local powers, or diminishing choices.

In most democracies, individuals are allowed to tell the government that they don’t like the rules, and to challenge proposed solutions. Meanwhile a disparate array of politicians, good, bad and indifferent, are trying to deploy different measures to control the pandemic, and simultaneously stop financial losses from bleeding the country dry.

It is not possible for most governments to meet either of these demands successfully as many wealthier countries have proven. No one can afford to be too selfish about the route taken, or proposed by their government, based on widely differing infrastructure and rules. Just because it has been going on for two years, doesn’t give anyone the right to say enough is enough.
I hate wearing a mask, and I hope things get better soon, but I’m not a scientist, or a politician, so in the grand scheme of this GLOBAL pandemic, it’s not really my place or yours to determine the rights and wrongs of it.

If you think that you entitled to be treated differently, maybe you are in the wrong country. Move to another country but please stop the pointless quibbling.

I would ask those government members to "practice what they preach" time after time leaders have put down orders on the public that they themselves ignore, I for one will do as they do and not as they demand on me,Im not their lapdog, If they can do it than so can I, because if they believe it to be so bad they would never put themselves at risk.
