Well....according to the experts who study/research these things, it's already been reasonably suggested that a 10/12 month booster might be required, as the single inoculation is not full-proof for long term. And well understood within scientific/health communities that 19 mutates and modifies, quite often into more potent variants. All of which suggest that vaccines "boosters" will have to be tweaked to accommodate the current strain that cycles around.
Though, there are certainly debates and differing theories regarding these scenarios. SARS-CoV-2 might be circulating for years.....or, might just disappear outta the blue.

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) launched an official website (http://thailandintervac.com) for foreign nationals in the Bangkok and Pattaya areas to register for free vaccinations. Other provinces have also launched vaccination campaigns targeting their local populations. According to the DDC, registration on the website will open in phases. The current phase targets non-Thai nationals aged 60 and above and those with specific underlying health conditions.

Eligible U.S. citizens should first attempt to register at the hospital at which they have a medical record. If you currently do not have a medical record with a local hospital, the website lists other vaccination locations and their readiness status. U.S. citizens will be able to register online or at a hospital which has your health records by using (1) Thai social security numbers, which are associated with Thai work permits, or (2) your passport. The website notes there are only two vaccines presently offered: Sinovac and AstraZeneca. Both vaccines are approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization. We advise U.S. citizens to check the website frequently for the latest updates. Questions and concerns regarding vaccination and the registration website should be directed to DDC at oicddchotline@gmail.com.

More than a third (37%) of unvaccinated people would feel ‘more inclined’ to get a Covid-19 jab if vaccine passports were introduced domestically, a study has shown.

This number increased to 43% if vaccine passports were introduced internationally, it found.

The survey of 17,000 people – of which 6,338 were unvaccinated – was conducted in April by the Vaccine Confidence Project (VCP) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

Support was lower among people who have not yet been offered a vaccine and are vaccine hesitant, it found, with 33% saying they would be more likely to get a jab if passports were introduced internationally.

The introduction of passports could therefore ‘drive more hesitancy’ among an ‘already hard-to-vaccinate’ group, the report said.

Almost two thirds (63%) of the same group of respondents (not yet invited and hesitant) said they wished to be ‘free to reject a vaccine without consequences on their ability to attend social events’, and 55% said vaccine passports would ‘infringe’ on their personal liberties.

There are currently no published plans to make Covid documents a requirement of entry to mass events domestically – despite several months of consideration – although a Government roadmap review published earlier this year said ‘the NHS solution will facilitate international travel where certification is required’.

COVID-19: Thailand Begins Mass Vaccinations amid Rising Infections

Thailand on Monday kicked off a long awaited national campaign to inoculate the general population against the coronavirus disease, amid a soaring wave of infections during which Thais have heavily criticized the government for being slow to roll out vaccines.


More than 4 million people of the nearly 70 million population have received at least one jab since the limited rollout began on Feb. 28, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha said Monday.


“Today we administered vaccine in all [77] provinces based on the severity in respective areas to prevent the spread [of COVID-19,” Prayuth said while visiting a stadium in Bangkok that had been converted into a vaccination center.


“Since Feb. 28, we have administered over 4 million dose of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines.”


Opas Kankawinpong, director-general of the Disease Control Department, said 143,116 people were inoculated in 986 centers nationwide on Monday.


As of Sunday, about 4.2 million people had gotten COVID-19 jabs, with 2.8 million of them having received their first shot and 1.3 million being fully vaccinated, officials said.


The mass campaign began after Thai company Siam Bioscience, in cooperation with Anglo-Swedish firm AstraZeneca, delivered 1.8 million of the 6 million doses it announced that it would produce, officials said. They did not say when Siam Bioscience would deliver the remaining vaccines.


The mass inoculation comes when new COVID-19 infections have risen more than six-fold and related deaths have increased 12.5 times since a third coronavirus wave began on April 1 from nightlife spots in downtown Bangkok, data from the national anti-COVID task force showed.


Thailand logged 2,429 new cases on Monday, lifting the cumulative caseload to 179,886, while the virus-related death toll rose to 1,175, after 33 overnight deaths.


To meet the demand for vaccines, Thailand signed a contract with Johnson & Johnson on Monday, Prayuth and his spokesman said. The country expects a total of 25 million doses from Johnson and from Pfizer, whose officials signed an initial agreement with Thailand last week.


So far, Thailand has received 6.5 million doses from China’s Sinovac and almost 2 million doses from AstraZeneca via South Korea and Siam Bioscience.


“Today, we’ve signed a booking for vaccines from Johnson and Johnson,” Prayuth said, adding that he now expected to acquire 100 million doses from various drug makers so far.


The Thai PM gave no details about when the country would receive all these doses.


The U.S. government has donated $30 million in total COVID-related assistance to Thailand.


Last week, the U.S. government announced a framework for sharing 80 million vaccine doses globally by the end of June.


The plan for the distribution of the first 25 million doses includes 7 million for Asia, including Thailand. This is in addition to the $4 billion U.S. commitment to COVAX.


Thailand is not a participant in COVAX because it is not a low-income country, according to the public health minister.


Criticism of rollout


Opposition leaders and others have criticized the Thai government for what they say is a slow rollout of vaccines and confusing apps to sign up for the jabs.


“I signed up via the ‘Mor Prom’ app and secured an appointment but it was voided. The government was not ready [with vaccines] and flip flopped,” Dokfai Krongkul, a 41-year-old businesswoman in Bangkok, told BenarNews.


“We have to call the hospital which cannot give us a definite answer either. I wish the government can arrange easy access for us.”


A woman who identified herself as Janjira, 36, said she believed the vaccine would protect from being severely infected.


“I read some research, and though the vaccine cannot shield us from infection 100 percent, it prevents death and severe sickness, so I took the jab. … The country could be back on track like other countries,” Janjira, a Bangkok resident, told BenarNews.


Meanwhile, Thais via social media also criticized the government for arms deals amid the COVID-19 pandemic, after information leaked about a purchase of tanks from China.


Last week, a report said that three VN-16 amphibious light tanks from China were set to arrive at a Thai port on May 31.


A Thai Navy spokesman confirmed the 398 million baht (U.S. $12.8 million) purchase but defended the acquisition as one that had been planned before the spread of COVID-19.


“The purchase plan of the VN-16 amphibious was in line with Fiscal Year 2020 under the navy’s minimal acquisition plan for maintaining security,” Adm. Chettha Jaipiem told BenarNews last week.


“The procurement was conducted before the spread of COVID-19.”

High time for US to check its labs

"The SARS-CoV-2 has infected more than 173 million people and claimed over 3.72 million lives worldwide. Indeed, it is one of the viruses that have deeply changed human society. Therefore, there has been a global call for searching the origin of this novel coronavirus, so measures can be taken to prevent similar global public health emergencies. China has not only voted at the United Nations and the World Health Assembly, the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization, for such a study, but also conducted a joint study with WHO team in January in Wuhan, where the virus was first reported.

China’s openness and cooperation has been appreciated by the WHO.
There have also been calls for further “investigation” into the measures China took during the early stage to contain the spread of the virus. US President Joe Biden ordered an intensive 90-day probe to reinvestigate the possibility of a lab leak origin in the pandemic. It seems the US administration has decided to use its intelligence and research departments to ascertain if China made a bungle of its initial response to the pandemic.
Interestingly, some US media outlets have reported that Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump administration decided to not push too hard. According to those reports, the US administration used to conduct gain-of-function research, and for fear of China striking back if the US pushed it too hard, the Trump administration had asked US State Department officials to not raise a hue and cry over the origin of the novel coronavirus in China.

China supports impartial and unbiased scientific research to trace the origin of the virus. And since cases suspected of COVID-19 symptoms were reported in several places around the world from late 2019, it would be scientifically and politically fair to simultaneously conduct research in all those places to determine the origin of the virus. As in the past, China is ready to cooperate with the WHO in such research. But it cannot be forced to agree to any investigation based on the preconceived notion that the virus originated in the country.

China has a fundamental question. While the United States suspects China, too, conducted gain-of-function research which could be related to the outbreak of the virus, why doesn’t it open its gain-of-function research program to a probe by a ream of global experts? Or, why doesn’t the Biden administration invite a WHO research team to trace the origin of the virus in the US?

This is not to suggest the virus originated in the US. But many do suspect it did.
There is more than enough reason to demand that transparent research be carried out to study the virus’s early development in the US. Such a demand should not be construed as China’s retaliation, for it is a global expectation.

For a year, China has been of the view that a transparent scientific research on a global level should be launched in the post-pandemic period to trace the origin of the virus. But we are still far from the post-pandemic period, as the virus is still raging in some countries and regions.

China was the first country to complete the genome sequencing of the virus and work in partnership with the WHO. While some may have “reasons” to ask China to be more open, it is equally important to ask other major stakeholders to open their labs and institutions to investigation to determine the origin of the virus.

All countries are equal. This fact becomes more important when humankind faces an unprecedented challenge, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. We are equally vulnerable in the face of the pandemic and equally important for containing it and preventing similar health emergencies. Hence, openness and impartiality are the basic requirements for any research aimed at tracing the origin of the virus.

It’s time for the US to conduct research on its soil and give an answer to the international community."
