"You may think of COVID-19 as a disease that involves the lungs, since many people experience shortness of breath or trouble breathing, but a growing body of research shows that COVID-19 can attack the heart, as well.
In one German study, 76 percent of people with COVID-19 showed evidence of biomarker damage to their hearts that was similar to damage caused by heart attacks. COVID-19 was also found to cause ongoing inflammation of the heart muscle in 60 percent of people who recovered from the virus. Researchers believe that the inflammation may lead to heart failure in a portion of the population that was previously healthy. "

Edmond, don’t be a plague rat. Get a vaccine when you are able. You don’t want to bring home COVID to your little Edwina and test your theory that it she is healthy therefore invincible.

the breathing difficulties as the lungs become oedematous cause blood O2 levels to decrease, the heart tries to increase the O2 level by pumping harder and harder. eventually the heart goes into a tachycardiac arrhythmia and fails.

death is due to covid induced cardiac arrest.

And Covid is killing more people because many of the people it's killing are already sick, suffering from the illnesses you've just spoken about and, unfortunately, were going to die anyway.

It preys on the weak, the elderly and the obese and most people are going to be ok.

Stop believing project fear. The death rate is less than 1% for all ages. This is not SARS, MERS or Ebola.

The press often report these cases in young people and say they had no comorbidities. Then they show a picture and more often than not they are obese. Is obesity not a comorbidity?

We all know the risk factors by now.

Anti-vaccine groups thrive on Facebook – don’t be fooled by the platform’s latest takedown
Media Matters has identified over 110 active anti-vaccine groups still on the platform

Facebook removed an anti-vaccine group that had already amassed more than 125,000 members, but this move will only minorly inconvenience the group, as members had already set up alternate channels of communication. What’s more, this group is only one of over 100 active Facebook groups that contain harmful anti-vaccine misinformation.

On April 22, Facebook removed a large private group dedicated to gathering stories of people allegedly injured by the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the company, the group was removed because it had violated Facebook’s harmful misinformation policies. A spokesperson told BBC News, “We allow people to discuss the COVID-19 vaccines but if information could lead to someone being harmed, we remove it.”

On its face this seems like a step in the right direction for a platform that has been negligent in its response to dangerous COVID-19 misinformation. However, the group amassed more than 125,000 followers before it was taken down, and they are already successfully reorganizing, setting up a Telegram group and a new social media platform.

The removed group, COVID 19 VACCINE VICTIMS AND FAMILIES, was created on March 29, 2021, and its “About” section stated, “The idea of this group is for victims families to unite and for the victims stories to be heard so we can get justice.” The group grew rapidly, particularly in the four days before removal, when it gained an average of over 12,500 members per day. Members would share anecdotes about friends and relatives receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and falling ill, claiming the vaccine was the cause.

Before the Facebook takedown, group members began expressing concerns about possible removal and preparing to organize in other spaces. Invites to a Telegram group, set up on April 5, are still prominently displayed on Facebook, with instructions for users to join the channel in order to circumvent Facebook action. On April 18, the group created a new social media platform, modeled after Facebook but explicitly for “vaccine victims.” That same day, a Facebook user posted that the group had been “suspended” but said, “I think you can still join the fb group and read the stories before it’s removed.” The group has also launched a new Facebook group, under a pseudonym. In less than a day, the new group gained roughly 1,100 members, and at the time of publishing, it has roughly 4,000 members.

I'm also not saying that there aren't occasional cases where relatively young and healthy people are affected and sometimes even die (I had a mate in his mid-50s on a ventilator for a month), but these are exceptionally rare incidences. I believe in the vaccines. I believe (mostly) in lockdowns. I believe in the drive for herd immunity.

However, I don't agree with project fear, from governments and elements of the press, and the effect this whole thing is having on people's mental (and physical) health. I don't agree with governments using this as an excuse to remove even more of our freedoms on the back of a disease that isn't a concern for the majority of us.

Brazil has a huge problem with younger people having COVID. Maybe because of the strain there, I don’t know. But...

snip: Yet, a recent study showed that more than half of Brazilians in intensive care this March were younger than 40, compared to 14.6 percent at the start of the epidemic a year ago.

Brazil has S.Hemisphere's highest overall COVID-19 death rate

Michigan hospitals see increasing numbers of younger COVID-19 patients: report | TheHill

Millions of Americans are Skipping Second Vaccine Shot: CDC

More than 5 million people have skipped their second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The New York Times reports. The figure amounts to around 8 percent of those who received a first shot of Pfizer or Moderna and is a worrying sign of vaccine hesitancy that could lead to a new wave of the pandemic, authorities warn. The reasons people are skipping their second shot range from fears of side effects or the belief that one shot is enough, according to the Times. The CDC says one shot does provide some protection against COVID, but it is unclear for how long.

The facts are that a tiny minority of people will die from this and a small number will get sick. These are published facts.

It seems like you're the one who's in denial.

Anti-lockdown protesters defy restrictions in central London march

Several thousand anti-lockdown demonstrators marched through central London on Saturday despite restrictions on mass gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was billed by organisers: "Unite for Freedom".

The protesters view COVID-19 restrictions as unnecessary and a breach of their human rights. They oppose vaccinations, mask-wearing and so called health passports.

Media reports put numbers at about 10,000, though the Metropolitan Police did not confirm a figure.

Protesters chanted "freedom" and "take off your mask" and some carried placards saying: "No to vaccine passports" and "Lockdowns kill". Most were unmasked.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said he was not aware of any arrests.

England has relaxed its lockdown restrictions in recent weeks. Non-essential shops and outdoor hospitality reopened on April 12, but indoor gatherings are still banned until May 17 at the earliest.

    Some good news.

EU To Allow U.S. Travelers To Visit This Summer, If Fully Vaccinated

It is the news that many Americans have been waiting for; that they will be able to visit the EU over summer. Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, told The New York Times in Brussels on Sunday that Americans who have been fully vaccinated, will be allowed to visit European countries over the summer.

It is understood, that although a date has not yet been given for when travel can begin, it will be allowed because of two reasons: firstly, the successful roll out of the vaccination program in the U.S. and secondly, because of the agreement between all 27 EU countries on the need to use vaccination certificates–France became the first EU country to trial its version on flights.
