Baldy still making a pigs arse of it. And two Secret Service agents who were in Tulsa have tested positive.

The U.S. saw a record number of new coronavirus cases in a single day, with 45,557 diagnoses reported Wednesday, according to a tally by NBC News.

Wednesday's cases top the previous highest daily count from April 26 — during the first peak of the pandemic in the U.S. — by more than 9,000 cases, according to NBC News' tracking data. The World Health Organization reported its single-day record on Sunday, with more than 183,000 new cases worldwide.

Health experts said Monday that the resurgence in cases in Southern and Western states can be traced to Memorial Day, when many officials began loosening lockdowns and reopening businesses.

CARROLLTON, Texas — As North Texas watches COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surge, one family is shouldering a health crisis that they never expected to face.

That crisis, all began on May 30 when just a single relative, unknowingly infected with COVID-19, interacted with seven family members at a surprise birthday party.

Those seven family members then contracted and spread the virus to 10 other relatives.

Now, Ron Barbosa is keeping track of 18 people in his family who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Barbosa didn't attend the party himself, but the celebration was for his daughter-in-law who turned 30.

    Fucking thickos.

Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin reports on Wednesday that multiple WWE employees who have been inside the WWE Performance Center over the past week have tested positive for COVID-19. While he did not give names, he did specify that the list includes wrestlers.
"While it's unclear when they were tested exactly, or how many of them were for wrestlers, sources tell us at least three people who had been at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando received positive test results this week," Satin wrote. "Our sources say more testing will now be done by WWE's medical team before this week's TV production to make sure the virus has not spread amongst talent/behind the scenes workers."
On June 15 WWE announced that a Performance Center trainee had tested positive. As a result the following day's television tapings were canceled and every person who was inside the PC on June 9 (the last day the trainee was in the building) was tested. Tapings resumed the following day.
"A WWE employee has tested positive for COVID-19," WWE's statement on the matter at the time read. "We believe this matter is low risk to WWE talent and staff, as the individual and a roommate became symptomatic in the days following exposure to two people working in acute health care on the evening of March 26, after WWE's TV production on a closed set was already complete. The employee had no contact with anyone from WWE since being exposed to those two individuals, is doing well, and made a complete recovery."

Jaysus these people are fucking morons. No wonder they voted for a fucking moron.

Many conservatives have chafed at Inslee’s emergency orders, which, like those in other states, are intended to stem the spread of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Critics have questioned whether such orders are constitutional and suggested the governor is overstepping his powers.

This highlights the fact that without proper reliable testing nobody knows where we stand with is mess, same goes for most countries.

More than 20m Americans could have contracted Covid-19, experts say

New estimate from CDC indicates many without symptoms have or had the disease, senior administration officials said

US government experts believe more than 20 million Americans could have contracted coronavirus – 10 times more than official counts, as cases are now rising in more than half of states and a new warning came of the risk of “apocalyptic” infection in major cities.

The new estimated numbers from the federal agency the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate that many people without symptoms have or have had the disease, senior administration officials said on Thursday.

The news came as Texas, one of the most populous US states, has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases and the governor on Thursday announced that he would have to pause the next phases in what has been a rapid reopening of business. Cases are now rising in 27 US states, up from 22 earlier this week.

The CDC’s new estimate that for every diagnosis of coronavirus in the US it is likely that 10 more people are or have been infected is based on serology testing used to determine the presence of antibodies that show whether an individual has had the disease, the officials said.

The officials, speaking to a small group of reporters on Wednesday night, said the estimate was based on the number of known cases, currently nearing 2.4m in the US, multiplied by the average rate of antibodies seen from the serology tests, about an average of 10 to one.

“If you multiply the cases by that ratio, that’s where you get that 20 million figure,” said one official.

If true, the estimate would suggest the percentage of US deaths from the disease is lower than thought. More than 122,000 Americans have died from the disease since the pandemic erupted earlier this year.

The estimate comes as government officials note that many new cases are showing up in young people who do not exhibit symptoms and may not know they have it.

Officials said young people with no symptoms, but who are in regular contact with vulnerable populations, should proactively get tested to make sure they do not spread it.

“We have heard from Florida and Texas that roughly half of the new cases that are reporting are people under the age of 35, and many of them are asymptomatic,” one official said.

The CDC has sent 40 response teams to help deal with the outbreaks, they said.

More than 36,000 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded nationwide on Wednesday, just shy of the record 36,426 on 24 April, at the height of the first wave of the pandemic. The rises are concentrated on states that were spared the brunt of the initial outbreak or which moved early to lift restrictions aimed at curbing the virus’ spread.

Australia starts virus testing blitz to stop second wave in Melbourne

Health workers fanned out across suburbs of Melbourne Friday in a testing blitz aimed at choking off a surge in coronavirus cases in Australia’s second-biggest city.

Officials reported another 30 new COVID-19 infections in the city overnight in a continuing outbreak that has raised fears of a second wave in Australia, which looked like it had successfully contained the disease.

It was the 10th straight day of double-digit rises in new cases in Melbourne and surrounding Victoria state, while most other Australian regions have seen no or low single-digit new infections for weeks.

Some 200 soldiers were due to deploy to Melbourne over the weekend to help with the testing offensive in 10 suburb “hot spots”, where officials are going door-to-door to track the virus.

The army initially announced plans to send up to 1,000 troops to Melbourne for the testing drive and to help guard locations where returning international travellers are held in mandatory two-week quarantine.

But the state government on Thursday reduced its request for military backup to around 200 troops for the testing effort, officials said.

Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews has set a goal of testing 100,000 people in 10 days in the targeted suburbs.

Some 20,000 tests were carried out in the first 24 hours of the effort, state Deputy Chief Health Officer Annaliese van Diemen said on Friday.

The Melbourne outbreak has rattled officials across Australia, with several states warning Victorians to stay away.

In neighbouring New South Wales, officials said they would bar Victorians from attending professional sporting events when they begin allowing fans next week — a particularly stinging move in the sports-mad country.

Australia has recorded roughly 7,500 coronavirus cases and 104 deaths in a population of 25 million, with several regions believed to be effectively virus-free.

Coronavirus: EU considers barring Americans from travel list

EU ambassadors are to continue talks on Friday to plan reopening external borders on 1 July, and travellers from the US could be among those not allowed in.

Some European countries are keen to open up to tourists but others are wary of the continued spread of the virus.

On Wednesday US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he expected a solution "in the coming weeks".

The virus is spreading in the US, so it is likely Americans would be barred.

Coronavirus latest: India cases surpass half a million

New Delhi is racing to contain the pandemic, as the Indian capital remains hardest-hit by the outbreak in the country. More than 500,000 cases were recorded in the latest grim benchmark.

Three new coronavirus symptoms have been added to the official list.

The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has added a runny nose or congestion, nausea and diarrhoea to the recognised symptoms of Covid-19.

These new signs come on top of coughing, fever, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, loss of taste or smell and a sore throat, LancsLive reports.

The CDC says symptoms may appear between two to 14 days after exposure to the virus.

Rumour has it the UK is going to relax travel restriction and quarantine from 6th April...its in the Mail so i am unsure how reliable this is - and i assume it needs to be reciprocal so that won't work with Thailand.

Under the traffic light system, set to be in place by July 6, countries will be rated green, amber or red based on infection levels, the reliability of official data and confidence in test and trace systems.

The automatic 14-day quarantine requirement will remain in place only for 'red-rated' countries such as the United States and Brazil. Travel between 'green' and 'amber' countries will be quarantine-free.

'Green' countries include Austria, Croatia, Greece and Germany while 'Amber' countries include France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain.

It is hoped an agreement will be reached with Australia and New Zealand in the coming weeks to add them to the list of 'green' countries.

Has seem to be the logical practice and policy - in a cyclical manner - the world over.
From the last four months on, particular regions and countries that have it contained and numbers are down substantially have barred folks from the the most continued infected area from entering.

More often than not, less a political call but more of one regarding health safety and the attempts to secure the already difficult tasks of containment/isolation.

I suspect this travel ban will continue - off and on - throughout world sectors.

...and can't really blame/critique any country or region for protecting themselves and the efforts thereof.

Seems to be spiraling unnecessarily out of hand. And keeps on growing...
From the start, all was mishandled by officialdom/policies and technical/health infrastructures - least, the societal attitude - which seems to be the principle crux of all things COVID related.

It's all about individualism and less about the betterment of the commons and collective.
Their hardwired manner is coming back to bite them on the backside.
