Presumably Norway's salmon have been "proven", to both exporter's and importers satisfaction, not the be infected and hence did not cause the latest outbreak. Although currently nobody has published any evidence of testing. Anybody who suspects any source, would do such an elementary thing.

We await all the other possible sources of the salmon being cleared.

One can suggest somebody tested the salmon, after the initial suspicion or, as jabir suggests, the Norwegians "threatened" China.
I notice you never answered my question. Which is more plausible?

    1. The infection on the chopping board came from it being handled by a chinky infected with the virus
    2. The infection on the chopping board came from a Norwegian salmon infected from frolicking around the fjords with undiscovered aquatic species of bats and pangolins.

Oh why am I asking, you're actually dumb enough to say it's the latter.

The real answer is that the chinkies have found the infected fishmonger but, as is their standard modus operandus, are keeping it quiet to avoid the embarrassment of their fucking ridiculous accusation being proven false.

UK virus-tracing app switches to Google-Apple model

I believe that I reported earlier that there was a likely technical problem with the UK's proposed Covid tracing app that didn't roll out as expected on May 28th and now never will. So much time lost with egos overruling experts. They are a shambles.

Coronavirus Beijing: Why an outbreak sparked a salmon panic in China - BBC News

    reports:

"Traces of the virus were found on a chopping boards used by a seller of imported salmon, said reports."

No source quoted for these "reports"

"But some 40 samples from the market tested positive for the virus - some of which were not from chopping boards used to cut salmon, said a spokesman for Beijing's Municipal Health Commission."

The source of the virus infection of the market is currently unknown.

    Possibilities:

    1. Was the virus on the chopping boards from the salmon seller,
2, Was the virus on the chopping boards from a salmon purchaser's paper money,
    3. Did the salmon seller assist another another food seller and use the same chopping boards for both food types,
    4. Was it placed them on purpose by a disgruntled citizen from another market,
    5. Wwas it a plot by a foreign agent, a la "Salisbury Skripal's' door knob contamination, is the virus similar to known variations or as yet new type to China, but active in Belarus/Brazil/Seattle

The UK has began producing what could be a vaccine for coronavirus, despite the drug having no clinical approval, the health secretary has announced.

Matt Hancock told the government's daily coronavirus press conference that a deal had been "struck" between pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford University to begin the manufacture of a potential vaccine.

"They’re starting manufacturing now, even ahead of approval so we can build up a stock pile and be ready should it be clinically approved," the health secretary said.

He said there will be sufficient supplies of the drug for those most in need, "should the science come off."

Stockpiles of the recently approved coronavirus treatment Dexamethasone were built up before it had approval, Mr Hancock said.

    As previously posted.

I first visited Thailand in in the 1980's, a two week holiday with my wife. Two days in Bangkok, then VIP transfer to at a top Japanese owned, 5* hotel on the north eastern tip of Koh Samui. BKK > Surathani > Koh Samui.

I have visited Thailand using my UK passport since 2007. Usually for a week or so when visiting other countries in Asia/Oceania on business.

I have lived in Thailand since early 2013, originally on an O visa, from Hull, and subsequent others, using my UK passport. I did return to UK for a 6 month period to care form my elderly father, my replacement was my brother, who did another 6 months stint. I was informed by my brothers that he, due to his medical conditions and his doctors recommendation, had been moved to sheltered accommodation, where he subsequently died.

I imagine a non UK citizen, would not travel to Hull, East Yorkshire, England, to obtain a Thai visa. But possibly some do/did.

When have you been a resident in Thailand? For how long? What countries passports do you travel on?

World entering ‘new and dangerous phase’ of Covid-19 as pandemic accelerates, WHO chief warns

"The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is far from over and has actually entered a “new and dangerous” phase, the World Health Organization (WHO) chief has said, warning that the killer virus is “spreading fast.”

Speaking at a press conference via video link on Friday, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that humanity is now facing a new stage of the pandemic that has been plaguing countries around the globe for several months.

The world is in a new and dangerous phase. Many people are understandably fed up with being at home... but the virus is still spreading fast.

Globally, the novel coronavirus has infected more than 8.6 million people, and over 450,000 have died from the disease. Some 4.5 million Covid-19 patients have successfully recovered from the disease.

Falling numbers of confirmed new cases have prompted many countries to partially lift their strict lockdown measures, kept in place for weeks in an attempt to curb the spread. Many other restrictions and guidelines, such as wearing face masks and observing social-distancing rules, remain in place for many.

In recent days, the US – by far the worst-affected country from the outbreak – has registered new spikes in the disease across several states. The surge in case tallies prompted California and Oregon to implement mandatory face-mask rules for public places. Similar moves are being considered in North Carolina and Arizona."

In which case unless you are planning on flying back to Blighty expecting to barge your way to the front of the queue for a vaccine because of your loyal support for the government of Chinastan, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The United Kingdom's chief medical officers have agreed that the COVID-19 threat level should be lowered one notch to "epidemic is in general circulation" from "transmission is high or rising exponentially".

The Joint Biosecurity Centre recommended the COVID-19 alert level should move to level 3 - a COVID-19 epidemic is in general circulation - from level 4 - a COVID-19 epidemic is in general circulation; transmission is high or rising exponentially.

"There has been a steady decrease in cases we have seen in all four nations, and this continues," the chief medical officers of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland said.

Looks like the chinkies were spreading the Wuhan Virus earlier than we thought.

The Italian National Institute of Health looked at 40 sewage samples collected from wastewater treatment plants in northern Italy between October 2019 and February 2020. An analysis released late on Thursday said samples taken in Milan and Turin on 18 December showed the presence of the SARS-Cov-2 virus.
"This research may help us understand the beginning of virus circulation in Italy," Giuseppina La Rosa, an expert in environmental wastewater at the Italian National Institute of Health who co-led the research, said in a statement detailing the findings.

The brazilian baldy orange cunto seems to be looking to outdo baldy orange cunto. Mind you those favelas must be every virus' dream.

Brazil's Coronavirus death toll is poised to hit 50,000 on Saturday, the second-highest in the world, and a model from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) predicts fatalities in Brazil will surpass those in the United States by August 1.

According to recent statistics, the U.S. has reported 121,407 deaths from the virus as of June 19. Brazil had reported 49,090 deaths. If projections hold true, Brazil could see as many as 165,960 deaths by August 4.

IHME director Dr. Christopher Murray said in a Monday video that he was concerned about projections for parts of southern Latin America, including Brazil. Murray said they were seeing "rapid increases despite having in place considerable social distancing mandates."

Tell me something I don't know.

A worrying rise in COVID-19 cases in Victoria has led to certain restrictions being tightened, with Premier Daniel Andrews announcing that the number of visitors to a home will be reduced to five.

This restriction will kick in from 11.59pm Sunday, with Andrews saying that the strict new rule is a result of the state’s COVID-19 infection numbers rising to their highest level in two months.

He said that the rise in numbers is being driven by families having “big get-togethers and
not following advice around hygiene” as restrictions ease.

Sounds great in principle, but it relies on people being trustworthy, which of course excludes a large percentage of the population.

We should do Cambodia style quarantining, with a deposit to pay for the test and subsequent quarantine if anyone on your flight is found to be infected. If you can't afford it, fuck off.

A 24 hour stay in an airport hotel while you await your test result would not be a massive inconvenience I think, especially if it virtually eliminates anyone infected from entering the country.

(N.B. I said Cambodia "style", because no-one I know thinks the Cambodians would be able to resist the temptation to "find" someone on the plane to be infected when that sort of money is on offer).

Passengers arriving at UK airports could soon be able to have the same type of saliva swab test used by the NHS to screen for the coronavirus.

Companies planning a trial of the scheme hope a negative result will allow early release from the government's 14-day travel quarantine.

People will have to pay around £140 for a test, booked online before travel.

The government said the quarantine system aims to keep the transmission rate down and prevent a second wave.

BBC News has been told that a trial is expected to begin in a couple of weeks at a major UK airport.

The aim is to initially test 500 passengers a day.

Under the proposals, passengers would visit an airport clinic after immigration to take a test and self-isolate at home until they received the result.

A negative result could take as little as five hours. However, the aim will be to notify every participant within 24 hours.

    'Win-win'

Jason Holt, the boss of ground-handling firm Swissport UK, which is one of two companies involved described the scheme as a "win-win".

"We accept that the quarantine is in place," he said. "This will complement it and help put UK aviation back on its feet".

The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) swab test being used is the type in operation at NHS facilities across the UK.

Nurses will carry out the airport swab tests at clinics run by medical firm Collinson.

The company says the trial is about "modifying" the quarantine.

"People will be able to go on holiday again", Dr Simon Worrell, Collinson's Global Medical Director, said.

So apparently Kid Rock, the sweaty trumpanzee, owns a bar in Nashville.

It has already been fined and has now had its permit suspended.

Should have managed a few infections there I think.

    Trumpanzee mental patient finds cure.

Pamela Drake, an older African American woman, wore a red “Make America Great Again” cap and carried a small American flag as she walked in sprinkling rain to claim a place in line for the Trump rally. She and her friend, Kathy Minartz, said they had no fear of catching the coronavirus or of violent protests.

“When you have the Lord in your life, you’re protected,” Minartz said.

Remember that urban myth about the Indian cleaner in the ICU unplugging respirators to plug in his vacuum cleaner in every night?

    Well....

A 40-year-old man died at a government hospital here after his family members allegedly unplugged the ventilator he was on to plug in an air cooler. He was suspected to be suffering from Covid-19 and admitted at ICU in the Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) Hospital on June 13. His test report, however, came negative later.

Hospital authorities said a three-member committee will probe the incident.

The man was shifted to an isolation ward on June 15 as a safety measure after another patient in the ICU tested positive for the disease.

Since it was very hot in the isolation ward, his family members bought an air cooler the same day. On finding no socket for the cooler, they allegedly unplugged the ventilator but almost half-an-hour later, the ventilator ran out of power.

They immediately informed doctors and medical staff, who administered CPR upon the patient, but he died.
