Chines products are available at many price points. Due diligence will be your friend. Many western companies have production facilities in China which are world class. There are of course "knock off shops" but that isn't solely a China thing.

Sometimes it is expedient to been seen to deliver sourced oversea items because it has an affect on ongoing production or for political reasons.

Strain in Beijing COVID-19 outbreak not like the type circulating in China: CDC chief epidemiologist

By Liu Caiyu and Zhao Juecheng Source:Global Times Published: 2020/6/14

"Beijing is going through an important test in its fight against COVID-19, and if it is not handled well, will cause a second wave of the outbreak, according to the chief epidemiologist of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

"Like the rest of the country, most of the population in Beijing is susceptible to COVID-19. Fortunately, Beijing found it early and moved fast," Zeng Guang, the CDC epidemiologist, told Chinese media on Saturday, warning that the Beijing regional outbreak could bring a second wave.

This test that Beijing is going through is the biggest one after the whole country experienced a calm period, Zeng noted.

Zeng revealed that preliminary results from viral gene sequencing show that the virus strain in Beijing this time does not resemble the type widely circulating in the country.

Two samples have already been tested, and more tests are needed to determine where the epidemic is headed, he noted.

Chen Xi, an associate professor of public health at Yale University, also suggested making a comparison of types of viral gene sequencing from different countries, to determine whether the virus detected in Beijing is from the origin nations of salmon.

The novel coronavirus was detected on a chopping board used by a seller of imported salmon at Xinfadi market. China imports about 80,000 tons of chilled and frozen salmon each year, mainly from Chile, Norway, Faroe Islands, Australia and Canada, according to news site Jiemian.com.

A preliminary investigation showed those confirmed cases may have been in contact with the contaminated environment at the Xinfadi Market or had contact with people who were affected, Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of Beijing municipal center for disease prevention and control, said at a press conference on Saturday.

She said the possibility of more COVID-19 infections cannot be ruled out.

Beijing reported 36 more confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, health authorities said on Sunday. Twenty-seven worked at the Xinfadi Market and nine others had a direct or indirect connection with the market.

As of press time, Beijing had reported a total of 43 confirmed cases over three consecutive days.

The Beijing Xinfadi Market became a new COVID-19 hot spot after confirmed cases reported in the capital city in the last three days were all traced back to the city's largest vegetables wholesale market.

Chen told the Global Times on Sunday that residents don't have to worry about the outbreak in Beijing as present, as China has gained vast experience in fighting against COVID-19, first from Wuhan, then Shulan in Northeastern China.

Beijing is capable of preventing the sporadic cases from spreading, Chen believed. "

^ I did wonder if this was a re-outbreak or a new outbreak. That would NOT be fun.

Everyone is expecting a second and third wave.

So it isn't really a big surprise.

We might have some respite for summer based on reports on the pesky bugs ability to survive in higher temperatures, but there are still too many unknowns.

The article is suggesting imported salmon may be the culprit. Imported salmon > market buying citizens (virus jump1) > citizens contacts (virus jump2):

Yes, as I said earlier, those pesky Salmon could have have been swimming in Australian or Canadian waters with as yet undiscovered aquatic bats and pangolins.

Alternatively, it may have come from an infected chinky mauling the fish and cutting board with his Covid-covered hands.

Which sounds more feasible to you HooHoo?

Oh dear. Debt diplomacy flights cancelled, oh sorry HooHoo, "tourist" flights cancelled.

China’s aviation regulator has suspended a China Southern Airlines service between Guangzhou and Dhaka in Bangladesh after 17 passengers on a flight on Thursday tested positive for the coronavirus.

The service, flight CZ392, is the first to be cancelled under the regulator’s new “circuit-breaker” rule and comes as China battles a fresh wave of infections, most of them in Beijing.

The China Southern service will be suspended for four weeks from June 22, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Under rules introduced on June 4, if between five and nine passengers on a flight test positive for coronavirus on arrival in China, the service will be suspended for a week. If 10 or more passengers test positive, the route will be suspended for four weeks.

No problems the French have a solution.

French cheesemakers accidentally discover new best-selling cheese thanks to Covid-19 (VIDEO)

In a rare example of something good coming from months of lockdown, French cheesemakers have accidentally discovered a new product that has become a hit among their customers.

The coronavirus pandemic has rattled many businesses and industries across the globe. In France, iconic wine and cheese producers saw orders dramatically falling after massive closures of restaurants and markets.

A family of cheese producers from the French commune of Saulxures-sur-Moselotte also suffered from plummeting sales as the epidemic peaked in the country. At the beginning of the lockdown, Lionel and Laura Vaxelaire had nearly 60 Munster cheeses left in the cellar.

Busy keeping the family business afloat, the couple left the strong-smelling soft cheese untouched for a month… only to discover that it had transformed into something completely new. The cheese, which remained isolated in the maturing room, developed a greyish, mottled flowery rind and had a different flavor.

“We kept maturing some batches, and one specific batch, we started to turn into Munster, but we put it aside and stopped dealing with it for lack of time because we needed to focus on orders and home deliveries after the lockdown,”
    Laura Vaxelaire recalled.

The new cheese needed a name and, given that it was born during the nationwide lockdown, they decided to call it ‘le confine’, which means ‘the confined’ or ‘the locked down’.

The ‘lockdown cheese’ became the “star of post-confinement,” giving the family much-needed relief after difficult times of forced quarantine, according to Lionel Vaxelaire.

“At the moment we have no more stock in advance,”
his wife said in a Ruptly video.
