Well let's see the evidence then shithead.

Donald Trump claims to have seen evidence to substantiate the unproven theory that the coronavirus originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, despite US intelligence agencies’ conclusion that the virus was “not manmade or genetically modified”.

“We’re going to see where it comes from,” Trump said at a White House event on Thursday. “We have people looking at it very, very strongly. Scientific people, intelligence people, and others. We’re going to put it all together. I think we will have a very good answer eventually. And China might even tell us.”

Pressed to explain what evidence he had seen that the virus originated in a Chinese lab, Trump responded, “I can’t tell you that. I’m not allowed to tell you that.”

Prior to the White House event, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the clearinghouse for the web of US spy agencies, issued a statement asserting that the intelligence community “concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the Covid-19 virus was not manmade or genetically modified”.

“The intelligence community will continue to rigorously examine emerging information and intelligence to determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or if it was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan,” the statement added.

Trump’s comments came as global infections passed 3.25 million, a third of which were in the US, and where the death toll was approaching 63,000. Recoveries worldwide have passed 1 million.

The US president is increasingly making Beijing’s handling of the outbreak a major issue for his November re-election campaign and has repeatedly threatened retaliation against Beijing.

The president and his allies have repeatedly touted the theory – for which there is no evidence – that an infectious disease lab in Wuhan, the center of the Chinese outbreak, was the source of the global pandemic that has killed more than 220,000 worldwide.

The World Health Organization’s representative in China, Gauden Galea, said the organisation has made requests of Chinese authorities to join research into the origins of the virus. “We know that some national investigation is happening but at this stage we have not been invited to join,” he told Sky News in remarks published on Thursday.

It seems he couldn't care less about anything but himself. He's happy to burn the house down.

The Trump administration placed orders for more than 100,000 new body bags for coronavirus victims in April, according to documents and public records obtained by NBC News.

The largest order of body bags was placed via purchase order the day after Trump said that the U.S. death toll from the coronavirus might not exceed 50,000 or 60,000 people.

“One is too many. I always say it: One is too many,” Trump said at an April 20 White House briefing. “But we’re going toward 50- or 60,000 people. That’s at the lower — as you know, the low number was supposed to be 100,000 people.”

The Department of Homeland Security is poised to spend $5.1 million on the largest batch order for “human remains pouches” from E.M. Oil Transport, Inc., according to
an April 21 filing, NBC news reported.

The pouches have not yet been paid for or shipped to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), according to NBC News.

“I hope to God that they don’t need my order and that they cancel it,” the company’s marketing manager, Mike Pryor, told the news source.

It would be helpful if the chinkies would stop spitting their dummies out and do the right thing.

The president of the European Commission backed calls for an investigation into the origin of the new coronavirus and said China should be involved in the process.

Lawmakers in countries like Germany, Sweden and Australia have called for a probe into how the virus started, which has so far infected over 3.2 million people and killed over 230,000.

Speaking to CNBC, Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the EU’s executive arm, said she would like to see China work together with her organization, and others, to get to the bottom of exactly how it emerged.

“I think this is for all of us important, I mean for the whole world it is important. You never know when the next virus is starting, so we all want for the next time, we have learned our lesson and we’ve established a system of early warning that really functions and the whole world has to contribute to that,” she told Geoff Cutmore in an exclusive interview Thursday.

She called for more transparency in the future and said governments needed to learn lessons from the current crisis.

Thailand’s sees the lowest number of new COVID-19 infections for a month

Thailand’s daily new COVID-19 infection rate continues to decrease, with 6 cases reported today (Friday).

Of the six new cases, one is an unemployed 64-year old Thai, who is reported to have visited a market in Bangkok, said Taweesin as he raised concerns about the reopening of markets.

The other five cases are residents of Banang Sata district in Yala province, aged between 21 and 54, who contracted the disease from pilgrims returning from Malaysia.

Accumulated infections to date in the country are 2,960 and recoveries have increased by 32 to 2,719, with the 187 cases still in hospital representing a new low. The death toll remains at 54 with no new fatalities reported today.

CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin said today that he is pleased with the continuing steady decline in new infections, but pointed out at the relaxation of lockdown restrictions, due to begin on Sunday, requires full cooperation from all concerned.

Citing social media reports of mass movements of people heading out of Bangkok, ahead of the long weekend, he admitted that he is worried, because a key element in preventing the spread of the disease is for people to stay at home and to avoid travelling.

He disclosed that more than 800,000 people left Bangkok on April 16th, by public transport and private cars, and the numbers increased to more than 840,000 and 960,000 on April 23rd and April 30th respectively.

“The figures show that the people are feel more relaxed and are spending more time out-doors,” he said, as he reminded the public of the need to stay at home to control the spread of the virus.

Twenty-six provinces have reported no new infections for the past 28 days and nine provinces have not reported a single case of COVID-19. Kalasin, Buri Ram and Nong Khai have reported no infections for over a month.

A total of 3,381 Thais returned from 23 different countries between April 4th and 30th. 165 are expected to arrive today from Singapore and 38 from Nepal. 130 others are to arrive tomorrow from the UAE, 35 from the Netherlands and 55 from Kazakhstan.

Dr. Taweesin noted that US doctors are repeatedly warning that premature easing of lockdown restrictions by several state governors could lead to the eruption of a second wave of infection, which will be much more serious.

He reminded everyone of the risk when venturing outdoors, noting that there are still new infections, although the numbers have slowed.

Most countries are now ending the strict lockdowns. Reality has taken over and an economic collapse has to be avoided.

Many companies will not recover - hospitality, retail and tourism will suffer badly.

I think as we look back, we will analyse the mistakes - not being prepared.

We will then suffer the consequences of a recession that was the result of the pendulum swinging too far and spending our economies money on welfare where in most cases it could have been avoided.

A different view might suggest that any such universal economic collapse was inevitable - with or without the pandemic.
Most are based on deluded fanciful principles anyway.
So it would make good sense that any full economic recovery might be rooted from the same.

....and we all lived happily ever after, just like in real life.

Expert report predicts up to two more years of pandemic misery

The new coronavirus is likely to keep spreading for at least another 18 months to two years—until 60% to 70% of the population has been infected, a team of longstanding pandemic experts predicted in a report released Thursday.

They recommended that the US prepare for a worst-case scenario that includes a second big wave of coronavirus infections in the fall and winter. Even in a best-case scenario, people will continue to die from the virus, they predicted.

"This thing's not going to stop until it infects 60 to 70 percent of people," Mike Osterholm, who directs the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota, told CNN.

"The idea that this is going to be done soon defies microbiology."

Yes, apparently there is a veritable cornucopia of causes of death on Russian death certificates.

Almost anything but "Covid-19" if it can be avoided.

And Vlad even had the pretty doctor who pointed this out, and tried to bring PPE to woefully underprepared rural hospitals, arrested and beaten, and the very next day ordered his lackies to roll out a new law threatening whistleblowers with five years in jail.

For all his usual waffle, Jeff is not far wrong with his comment.

US debt was in balloon territory again, and knowing how the financial world operates sleazily without regulation under Republicans, another bust to follow the supposed boom was inevitable.
