South Korea reported on Friday that 91 recovered coronavirus patients have tested positive for the disease again, raising questions over health experts' understanding of the pandemic.

The prospect of people being re-infected with the virus is of international concern, as many countries are hoping that infected populations will develop sufficient immunity to prevent a resurgence of the pandemic.

The reports have also prompted fears the virus may remain active in patients for much longer than was previously thought.

    scary.

The fact that the earlier negative tests might well have been spurious has of course not entered the consciousness of those reporting this crap.

The only truly scary thing is man's capacity for stupidity.

Why's that? Do you think the number of cases in Chinastan is vastly more than they reported?

a lot of things doesn't add up and why we have a confinement for a disease with a theorical death rate of 1%

it's being said now that R0 might actually be 16, not 3, and that the virus takes longer than 2 weeks to incubate or remain active up to 4 weeks in asymptomatic patients

Now ask yourself this if it started in China why does America have the most number of cases.?

    Because China is lying.

Also, because the US has a dire healthcare system.

Also, because American state/federal duality creates problems when a co-ordinated effort is required.

Also, because the US seems to have a particularly huge amount of terrible decision makers in important positions.

Also, because Americans, as a population, are extremely unhealthy, so more at risk from this virus.

Also, financially, it's to China benefit to pretend they have no cases so they can continue to export whereas in the US it's financially beneficial to many folks in the Senate/White House/other to put huge funds into their pharma, insurance and financial institutions - revolving doors, crony politics...

OMG! Run for the hills. Where can i get a spare AR15?

China is a big country with lots of people, and on average 27,400 of them die every day. 200,000 bags won't last till the end of the month.

Well I suppose I'd better explain it to you.

Chinastan let all these people leave Hubei and spread it abroad, but at its epicentre they locked everyone down, and not the European or US "Be nice" lockdown, but "we will cart you off for a bit of reeducation" lockdown, which you can get away with in a military dictatorship like Chinastan.

The US has not only been soft on the lockdown, but many states didn't even bother doing it (in fact I think one or two still aren't), so it was able to spread like wildfire.

Also, Chinastan is a big fat fucking liar, and if you think the number of cases and deaths is as they report, then you are delusional.

Why do you think they have kept cinemas shut down across the country even now, when Wuhan is supposedly "Virus free"?

    You are being stupid.

The wet markets in Wuhan created the vector for the virus and was the epicentre of the epidemic generating the majority of cases but which was effectively sealed off relatively early from the rest of China by the end of January, unfortunately not until a diaspora of carriers had already travelled the globe.

In epidemiological terms within a free and democratic society one person can infect 60,000 in a short period of time.

Hence the problems in the EU and the US.

Denmark is an interesting example of what could have been done. It effectively excluded itself from the world in the beginning of March, shutdown all domestic interaction, closed schools, public areas, shops and workplaces and enforced a strict social distancing policy for those work places left open. Even takeaways were sanitised with no face-to-face contact between server and customer who could only order and pay electronically. No-one was permitted to mov unless it was by prior authorisation. The death toll and infection rate is negligible. Contrast that policy with the woeful British response that did nothing for nigh on three weeks until March 21. And the British have paid a heavy price for this criminal negligence by perhaps the worst government in living memory, over 9,000 dead and a death rate of 1,000 per day.

    Oh.

The U.S. Navy confirmed Thursday that 416 crew members onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier docked in Guam, have now tested positive for the coronavirus. The number of confirmed cases jumped by 130 people in one day with more than 1,000 tests still pending.

On Wednesday, the Navy released a statement that said 93% of the crew had been tested for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, resulting in 2,588 negative and 286 positive results. Over 2,000 sailors on the ship were subsequently moved to a base on the island, which is a U.S. territory.

"As testing continues, the ship will keep enough Sailors on board to sustain essential services and sanitize the ship in port. There have been zero hospitalizations," the Navy said Wednesday. The next day, one sailor was transferred to a hospital and put under intensive care, according to the Navy.

Mexico closes US owned plant for refusal to sell ventilators

    4/10/20 8:31 PM

TIJUANA, Mexico — The northern Mexico border state of Baja California closed a plant run by the Anglo-American health care firm Smiths Medical Friday for allegedly refusing to sell ventilators to Mexican hospitals.

Baja California Gov. Jaime Bonilla said the firm refused to sell Mexico some of the machines, which are badly needed to treat patients with coronavirus.

Bonilla said the firm had continued to operate its assembly plant under the argument it provided an “essential” service, when most non-essential plants have been ordered closed to combat the pandemic.

But Bonilla ordered the Smiths Medical factory closed, because he argued it was providing no such essential service to Mexicans, and thus was not obeying health emergency contingency measures.

“We said to them ‘if you want us to consider you essential, you have to provide some benefit to the people of Baja California, by selling us ventilators, because we need them,’” Bonilla said.

“They said ‘no, we are not going to sell you anything, we are just going to continue to use your labor’.”

Bonilla accused the company of contacting Mexico’s foreign relations secretary and the U.S. Ambassador to try to stave off the closure order. But he vowed no to cave in to the pressure.

The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Industry sources have argued the factory is an export-only plant that operates under special rules that allow it to import raw materials and parts duty-free, on the condition they be re-exported and not sold on the local market.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the company is owned by U.K.-based Smiths Group plc.

Mexico now has 3,844 case of the new coronavirus, with 233 deaths nationwide.

(Reuters) - 3M Co (MMM.N) said it filed a lawsuit against Performance Supply LLC on Friday, alleging that the New Jersey-based company had posed as an authorized vendor of 3M-branded N95 respirators and offered millions of them for sale to New York City officials at prices as much as 600% over the list price.N95 respirators, which are designed to filter 95% of airborne particles, are among the personal protective equipment most needed now by medical professionals as they battle the coronavirus outbreak. New York City has become the epicenter of the global pandemic.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, said Performance Supply “offered to sell $45 million in N95 respirators to New York City officials at prices 500-600% over 3M’s list price.” According to the lawsuit, Performance Supply offered about 7 million 3M masks to city procurers on March 30 at over $6, up to 600% of 3M’s list price.

Performance Supply did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

3M said in a statement that it seeks injunctive relieve and damages and will donate any damages recovered to COVID-19-related nonprofit organizations.

3M said last week it expects to ramp up U.S. monthly production of N95 respirator masks to 50 million in June, and is also looking to produce 2 billion N95 respirators globally within the next year.

The genie is out the bottle. The solution is to hunker down, be a hermit and wait for a vaccine. Governments in free societies should issue blanket decrees that all institutional invoices viz utilities, rent, mortgage repayments, loans, direct debits, tax payments, court fines, credit card re-payments should be frozen until the end of the emergency.

Essentially we should hit the pause button.

While many churches across the nation plan to hold their Easter services online Sunday, a Louisiana pastor says his church near Baton Rouge is expecting a crowd of 2,000 or more despite federal coronavirus guidance advising social distancing.

“Satan and a virus will not stop us,” Rev. Tony Spelltold Reuters. “God will shield us from all harm and sickness. We are not afraid. We are called by God to stand against the Antichrist creeping into America’s borders. We will spread the Gospel.”

Spell has gained attention in recent days for insisting on holding in-person services as the coronavirus pandemic has left more than 14,700 dead in the United States and as cases nationwide top 431,000.

“Like any zealot or like any pure religious person, death looks to them like a welcome friend. True Christians do not mind dying. They fear living in fear,” Spell told TMZ in an interview this week.

Spell was arrested on March 31 and charged with six misdemeanors for violating an executive order by Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) banning gatherings of more than 50 people. Central, La., Police Chief Roger Corcoran said Spell's decision to continue in-person services was “reckless and irresponsible.”

His arrest took place just a day after Florida megachurch Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne was also arrested for holding services at his church, the River at Tampa Bay, amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

President Trump and Vice President Pence have both acknowledged that, while it's not the same as going in person, they will both be attending virtual Easter services this year and have encouraged other Americans to follow suit.

So Your all saying the virus has traveled over 11,500 kms and bypassed most of the Asian countries, and not even had a problem in Beijing/Shanghai.

Surely you can see the absurdity in the situation,India has a shit health service second biggest population in the world but how many cases?

Though America has over 600,000 cases around 30% of all cases around the globe.
