In a video posted on Twitter minutes ago, the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, confirmed he had developed mild symptoms – “a temperature and persistent cough” – over the last 24 hours and, on the advice of the chief medical officer, he took a test which returned positive for coronavirus.

Johnson said he is self-isolating and working from home. He said thanks to “the wizardry of modern technology” he will continue to lead the national fightback against the virus.

He thanked the NHS and everybody working to keep the country going through the pandemic and reiterated that staying at home is fundamental to stopping the spread of the virus.

Just google image searched that pic and he has got that off Pattaya news...and armed police are set up outside ATMs, petrol stations, 7/11s, supermarkets....to stop the pillaging when everyone's off the streets

With tens of thousands in Pattaya alone and millions in Thailand out of work due to the Covid19 Coronavirus closing many area businesses as well as lowering income for many others who can still work due to lack of tourists and customers, the decision was unavoidable according to Col. Pisamai.
They will be looking for desperate individuals who may resort to robbery or crime as a solution to their financial problems
Pattaya City Police introduce heavily armed patrols to help protect at risk areas like 24 hour convenience stores - The Pattaya News

This follows a well publicized robbery of a 7-11 in Banglamung early yesterday morning. The video from that incident is here:

Anyone who says that is automatically a Boomer even if they aren't.

The strain of the coronavirus crisis was evident at U.S. Garrison Italy’s fifth virtual town hall in as many weeks, well after schools and services were closed, moves postponed and directives issued to stay inside in a country with one of the highest death rates from the virus.

When the virus strikes the refugee camps someone needs to secure Europe borders.
    Good Luck!

The french are smart enough to bring some of their boyz back home. Germans are still talking about how good their health system is working.

Bit of a difference between nicking some food if you have a hungry family at home, and going in with a weapon. Not sure I would subscribe to the first, since few if any go hungry in Thailand, and without speculating how ugly it might become if this thing goes on for months without essential supplies, in these early times there is still a community spirit with people helping out each other.

I don't know this robber's circumstances, but what he did is close enough to looting under emergency conditions and deserves a well placed piece of lead in the ear.

Fwiw, unsustainable to post armed personnel at every money and food source; but looks good and that's what our glorious leaders thrive on.

My bladder says the more or less orderly shopping we've witnessed and reported over recent days will soon move toward hysteria, in line with increasingly restrictive decrees.

    The Theodore Roosevelt Princess....

Washington (CNN)There are now 25 sailors who have tested positive for the coronavirus aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, just two days after the Pentagon announced that three sailors aboard the ship had tested positive for the virus, a Navy official has confirmed to CNN.

The Navy says they expect there to be additional positive tests among the crew, with one official telling CNN there could possibly be "dozens" of new cases that emerge. A second official said that were there to be a large number of additional cases, the Defense Department would be unlikely to publicly specify how many of the Navy's overall cases are amongst members of the crew of the Roosevelt, due to concerns that adversaries such as China or North Korea could see the ship as vulnerable.
The video playing alongside this says all US troops in the US are frozen from overseas deployments for 60 days.

I wonder how much of the cash they nicked had coronavirus lurking. That really would be irony, infected by their loot and breathless in their hideaway...

...vague memories of a film noir...

Allah's way of punishing muslims for drinking alcohol?

(I must admit I have been ribbing my colleagues about whether or not they got a fatwa to use all this hand sanitiser).
