New York looks to be taking quite a hit with 4,796 new cases yesterday bringing the total to 15,168. I have been looking at Europe rather than USA so not sure when that number started to rocket. Just 10 days or longer? This could hit the US in an even bigger fashion than Europe...

Why masks are ineffective in general. I have been watching people wearing masks and they routinely pull them down to talk then wipe their face then put the mask up. I witness people who take the mask off but never washed their hands after then touch their face. This is quite common. As my daughter has said to me over and over, Masks should really only be worn if you have signs of being ill or you are caring for an ill family member or work in the medical community.

I see people panicking and spending copious amounts of money to get them and most use them improperly making them ineffective.

^ I saw a woman at the market yesterday with latex glove on and kept touching her face .

As you say most are using these incorrectly. Best to stay away as you can't rely on your fellow citizens to not be stupid.

I'm locked in NZ for the foreseeable future, family in their own lock down in Chanthaburi, online learning for two, but Ms still working fulltime.
Am watching NZ Prime Minister Ardern right now, move from Level 2 to Level 3 now, Level 4 in 48 hours.
Essential services only are permitted to function. All non essential must close.

    What you need to know:

    - New Zealand has been lifted to alert level three and alert level four in 48 hours.
    - Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said community transmission is a possibility in New Zealand now. She said, "staying at home is essential".
    - All non-essential businesses must close in 48 hours. This includes bars, restaurants, cinemas, playgrounds.
    - Essential services will remain open.
    - All indoor and outdoor events are banned.
    - Schools will close from tomorrow.
    - All of these measures will remain in place for four weeks.
    - There are 36 new coronavirus cases in New Zealand, bringing the total confirmed count to 102.
    - Most cases are linked to recent overseas travel, however, there are two that aren't linked to travel.

Expect to be in lockdown for four weeks
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the full lockdown will last for about four weeks before being reassessed. Some regions could be pulled out of level four earlier than others.

    PM: You must stay home
The Prime Minister is essentially placing the country into a full lockdown. People should stay home unless they are working at an essential service such as a supermarket or hospital. Everyone else should work at home and only go out for essentials, or completely alone for something like a walk.
This is probably the most significant government intervention into private life ever made in New Zealand.

Because most people don't give a fuck. One of the major problems with this virus is its death rate and who it mostly affects. Be careful what you wish for and all that, but if it had the mortality rate of other viruses you wouldn't see young dickheads licking toilet seats etc.

    It's a sneaky fucker.

Exactly right. The best way to battle this is stay home. If you need to go out be cognizant of your surroundings and how others behave.

Gloves in my opinion are another waste of time and money and moreover taking needed medical community resources.

I just read ( unsubstantiated but not unbelievable) in N Korea if you are diagnosed with the virus the people are being executed instantly.

Heck of a good deterrent to keep people at home...

Be it due to selfishness or stupidity (I suspect the former rather more than the latter), it's probably the best way for Europe and the US.

unless strict protocols are followed with every movement they make , they only have to fcuk up once

every thing should be closed except chemists , doctors , supermarkets - the masses need to learn to stay home for at least a month

the lines of people outside centrelink ...... because the my.gov website crashed

the facade will collapse to expose how incompetence rules and none of these people are leaders - this is the curse of the MBa's upon us - they are convinced they are leaders which is not the case

I truly wish folk would avoid that crass and indiscriminate use of the Americanism to describe a shutting down of American prison life or sealing off a school to prevent a massacre when they mean quarantine. I can well understand the stupid and ignorant employing the term because they cannot spell or pronounce 'quarantine' but that is no excuse for everyone to use it. It's just so pretentiously melodramatic and achingly contrived, a bit like your grandmother asking you " what went down " when she is merely asking what has happened.

In the case of the British, and Americans of course, it is stupidity. No other European country is mobbing supermarkets like scavenging locusts driven by an atavistic desire to hoard for Armageddon but in Britain the untermensch - we have seen them all in the press photos; lumpen, knuckle-dragging, fat sacks with slack jaws, dressed in tracksuit bottoms and hoodies gawping inanely at their phones - are the majority as so vividly illustrated by the Brexit vote.

I was just gonna say that you were describing the average Brexit retard and then I saw your last line. How very true.

Of, but of course the UK is far worse off, because.... Brexit. Dribble
Ever noticed, we are an Island nation? Have another bottle.
I was referring to the economic meltdown of Britain and Sterling, the worst affected currency in the developed world except NOR K and AUD, in the context that the Brexit fiasco had weakened it and made it more vulnerable to eternal shocks such as COVID and you post a schedule of infections with a current death rate.

You really are quite, quite stupid.

Umm...Chitty...what about all the products that you helped to 'strip the shelves' of?

How did that not make you a 'retard' by your reasoning?

You really are such a massive hypocrite it's unreal.

And you can delete this or make a new thread of it with a title that makes no sense or whatever...it won't change that truth.

She was a volunteer community shopper contributing to the greater good in a sound business-like fashion so typical of their Teutonic ilk.

My dear chap, who on earth gives a flying toss about what happens in the Antipodes, but as we all know they are genetically programmed from the English gene pool to act in a lumpen manner so really no surprise to learn of poor behaviour there.
