Hua Lamphong station to remain open after Bang Sue station opens

BANGKOK (NNT) - The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has confirmed the Bangkok Railway Station or Hua Lamphong, will remain open but with fewer train services radiating from the station, after the opening of Bang Sue Grand, which will serve as the new central station for Bangkok.

The SRT says fewer trains will terminate at Hua Lamphong after the opening of Bang Sue Grand, however the old Bangkok station will remain open for passenger services, with some parts of the historic building converted into a railway museum.

Bang Sue Grand, which will serve as the new central station for Bangkok, will open in 2021. The station will be South East Asia’s largest railway station, and provide connections to other modes of public transport including the Bangkok Metro (MRT). The new station is expected to help solve traffic congestion in surrounding areas.

The grand station project also includes commercial developments such as shopping malls, hotels, and office buildings. In the initial phase after the opening, the SRT will select suitable train services to operate from and terminate at Bang Sue station instead of Hua Lamphong, with other services still serving Hua Lamphong station as usual.

Don't be so fucking stupid. That's a typical Thai 'big face', all fucking fur and no knickers project that in the end will underperform and fuck up like all their projects.

The reality is much worse however in that they have this wonderful new terminus linking up with a multi-choice of intra-network transport connections to anywhere in the metropolis but the service linking the metropolis to the provinces is utterly woeful with a track system no better than it was 50 years ago. The national rail network in Thailand is a disaster and there it is.

But at its hub it's now got a nice new shiny badge showing off how wonderful they are.

And you say they ar "fookin' experts'?

    You gormless antipodean twat.

I would have suggested following the hong kong model

instead of building some wavy namby pamby shite , they should have built a massive shopping , hotel , residential complex as it is sited at the nexus of many transport options and the rentals would have subsidised a shit load of maintenance etc

Think is we saw the Thai idea of integration where transport is concerned with the Airport Rail link which i use occasionally but not from the airport, but you can see the throngs of those with large suitcases hot off the plane delighted to have lucked out in being whizzed to Bangkok central and there smoothly connecting to the MRT and Sky train.
