The way he was shooting off randomly, while obviously quite at home at firing off guns, they have no reason to expect a quiet arrest. Hope they simply go in and execute the fooker.

‘Big Joke’ lashes out at the national police chief interference in his shooting case

Former immigration chief Pol Lt-Gen Surachet “Big Joke” Hakparn hit out at the national police chief, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, for allegedly instructing the deputy national police chief, Pol Gen Wirachai Songmetta, to stay away from the investigation into the attack on his car.

Appearing on Channel 3’s “Hone Krasae” talk program today, Surachet, currently an advisor at the PM’s Office, talked about a leaked audio recording, purportedly of a conversation between Chakthip and Wirachai, during which the police chief is heard telling Wirachai to wait until the Metropolitan Police Bureau issue their report on the shooting before getting involved.

Deputy police spokesman Pol Col Krisana Patanacharoen has confirmed that the recording is authentic, but said it might have been recorded by an ill-intentioned police officer.

While not mentioning Chakthip by name, Surachet said he felt very disappointed, after having heard the recording, adding that only Wirachai and a police commander were at the scene when the 8 shots were fired at the car, by a motorbike pillion passenger, on Monday night in Bang Rak district, adding that he has not seen the metropolitan police commissioner since the shooting.

“If I were the head of the city’s law enforcement organization, I would have ordered the arrest of the perpetrators of the shooting to happen within two days,” said the former immigration chief, apparently, referring to a male voice in the clip, believed to be Chakthip.

Surachet complained to the TV programme’s host that he had been subjected to a lot of persecution and he will not stand for it any more.

Apparently defying Chakthip’s instruction, Pol Gen Wirachai today met the media at the Royal Police Office to take questions about the shooting case.

You're not suggesting that he knows who is behind it, are you?

No I'm not, I think he may have no evidence of that but given his prior beef whith other officials he has a hunch that they might be involved. Need evidence to support his hunch now, that's why he's demanding concrete action to find the shooters then get the one(s) who ordered this to happen.

Two deputy national police chiefs axed in shock transfer

Two deputy national police chiefs were abruptly transferred on Thursday in a surprise reshuffle that has shaken Thailand’s police service.

Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, today confirmed reports on social media about the sudden transfer of Pol Gen Veerachai Songmetta, the deputy national police chief, to the Prime Minister’s Office, effective as of Wednesday, by an order of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

According to the transfer order, Pol Gen Veerachai was accused by the Royal Thai Police of conduct deemed to negatively affect the public’s confidence in the performance of the duty to uphold justice and the image of the Royal Thai Police, causing damage to the police force.

A fact-finding committee has been set up by the Royal Thai Police to investigate Pol Gen Veerachai and, while the probe is under way, it is deemed appropriate to have him transferred to the PM’s Office, according to the transfer order.

Pol Gen Veerachai, however, remains employed by the RTP and is entitled to remuneration from the force.

Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief, also signed an order on Thursday transferring Pol Gen Chaiwat Kateworachai, the deputy national police chief, to an inactive post in the Royal Thai Police’s Operations Centre, otherwise known as the “graveyard” for officers who fall out of favour with their boss.

No reason was given for Pol Gen Chaiwat’s abrupt transfer, which also stripped him of all his responsibilities related to his post as the deputy police chief.

In yet another swift order, Pol Gen Chakthip assigned Pol Gen Chanasit Wattanawarangkoon, the police inspector-general, the job of taking over Pol Gen Veerachai’s responsibilities in overseeing cases related to violations of, and suppression of offences related to intellectual property.

Pol Gen Suwat Jaengyodsook, another deputy national police chief, was also appointed to take over the investigative job of Pol Gen Chaiwat.

Police chief Chakthip confirms audio clip leak triggered Veerachai’s transfer

The abrupt transfer of Pol Gen Veerachai Songmetta, the deputy national police chief, to an inactive post at the Prime Minister’s Office, was triggered by the leak on social media of an audio clip of a private conversation between Veerachai and the national police chief, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda.

Asked by reporters this afternoon whether Veerachai’s sudden transfer had something to do with the recording, Pol Gen Chakthip curtly answered “Yes!”

The leaked audio featured a recent telephone conversation between Chakthip when, during an overseas trip, he called Veerachai, who was then the acting police chief, to talk about a case related to the shooting at the car of Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn, the former immigration police commissioner and a special advisor attached to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Veerachai went to the crime scene and put himself in charge of the investigation, bypassing the metropolitan police, which has jurisdiction in Bangkok.

In the clip a man, believed to be Chakthip, is heard ordering the other man, believed to be Veerachai, to stay out of the matter and to refrain from talking to the media about the case.

Veerachai, however, defied Chakthip’s order and, on the same day that the clip was leaked, it was reported that he had gone to the Central Forensic Science Office with bullets retrieved from Surachate’s car for examination, in order to trace the weapon used in the shooting.

After Chakthip returned from his overseas trip, Veerachai was removed from overseeing the shooting incident and faded from public view. Informed police sources said that he was suspended for 15 days by Chakthip.

The shooting of Surachate’s car is thought to be linked to the Royal Thai Police’s two billion baht biometric identification system procurement project for the Immigration Bureau.

Surachate, then the immigration police chief, rejected the project and brought the project to the attention of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, putting him in direct confrontation with Chakthip, who had earlier endorsed the procurement.

Ex-immigration chief Surachate given stern warning by PM

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has warned former immigration chief, Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn, to adhere strictly to the ethical code and discipline expected of all civil servants.

In an order, issued today by the Prime Minister, Pol Lt-Gen Surachate, who is currently working as a civil servant attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, was told not to do anything which could be deemed to be gross misconduct, such as performing his duty dishonestly, filing false reports, bypassing his superior, abusing his authority, being careless in the performance of his duties, abandoning his duty or doing anything which could be deemed to be persecution or oppression of others.

Surachate was also told to abide by the laws and rules transparently, spend his time on government service, to protect official secrets, be polite, help other officials and refrain from delegating his work to the others.

The former immigration chief is currently embroiled in conflict with his former boss, national police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda, over the procurement of a two billion baht biometric identification system for the Immigration Bureau.

So according to his hierarchy, Joke is not allowed to comment and raise question on what triggered the shooting of his personal car like any victims of a crime?

Sounds dodgy as hell and Big Joke must have thought the same as he resigned and went to India to be ordained monk...maybe his saffron robe will protect him...
