39 Year-old British Man Arrested in Pattaya on Theft Charges

Authorities in Pattaya Thailand have arrested a 39 year-old British man on theft charges on 2 separate robberies. He allegedly stole a motorcycle from a woman and a wallet containing some cash from another man.

Pattaya Police Superintendent Pol Col Khemmarin Phitsamai said Ben Frost, 39, was apprehended on Pattaya Klang Road. He initially denied the charges but later confessed after police showed him the evidence.

Ms. Chanida Muangsak, 30, told police that her motorcycle was parked at the entrance of Soi 5 on Pattaya Beach Road and had disappeared at around noon. She had asked people in the area who told her a foreign man might have stolen her bike.

She and her friends had tried in vain to find the man so she filed the Pattaya police complaint. Police said security camera video showed the bike being taken.

Briton Ben Frost initially denied the charges but later confessed after police showed him the evidence by Pattaya Police.

Meanwhile, Mr. Natthawut Damdong, 23, told police that the suspect had joined him while he was drinking alone at a beer bar. Mr Natthawut left to get a bottle of beer for the suspect, but when he returned his wallet was gone.

He told Pattaya Police his wallet containing about 900 baht in cash, credit cards and identification. The Briton also took his mobile phone and fled on a motorcycle.

After investigating both witness accounts, Pol Col Khemmarin sought approval from the Pattaya court to arrest the British suspect. Frost had entered Thailand on a tourist visa five days ago.

The Briton is now in police custody pending legal action and most likely extradition from Thailand

The idiot will soon learn that Thailand is not the UK. Low life petty thieves get bled dry and totally fucked over in LOS, not a free cup of tea at the Nick before being released on police bail.

But, WTF - theft of a motorbike and a wallet are pretty serious crimes in the US. A conviction of either causes problems and black marks that would follow a person around for life. What's the deal in the UK?

And why would anybody be stupid enough to commit such crimes in a foreign country?, and in an Asian country? He never saw an episode of "locked up abroad"?

It's possible both were known to the Brit and there is more to this story. Perhaps they had already taken the shirt off his back?

In the uk the police would not be interested, he would get a caution and be home for supper. Take the mickey on twitter out of at a shirtlifter of colour though and expect a dozen squadcars at youyour house within 5 minutes followed by a prison sentence.

The English trashy scum, usually ditch digging oiks from Essex or northern whippet fuckErs looking for a respite from shagging their pets or fat-arsed cellulite riddled hags in their squalid drug infested, drink sodden estates, are evidently still making an effort to make their mark at high season but even by their grisly standards - tattooed, perennially shirtless and rat-eyed - this piece of jetsam extruded from Albion's anus is an oddity in that only five days have elapsed since his departure from the UK. The cost of his ticket would have been high at the time he left, before NYE, and most in this demographic of lumpen beasts of burden rutting whores in Pattaya, usually have sufficient to budget for food, drink, bothy and Isaan hooker in a two week shagfest.

A Brexiteer child of his times, clearly - a coarse, uneducated dumbo overcome by delusional optimism without a pot to piss in.

Take a bit pity for the poor guy who has run out of his money. So he helped himself thinking that it's not so big deal in the LOS where he hears (and reads on TD): all Thai are thieves...

^Just go back the pages and count the many statements of outrage about not trusting Thai people as all are thieves.

Wondering whether there are so many cases of Thai tourists stealing during their journeys in foreign countries? (as are of the falangs in Thailand)

WAITRESS IN HOT WATER OVER CREDIT CARD FRAUD👩[at]⚖️
A 47-year-old Kalgoorlie woman, who committed fraud by using a credit card she claims to have found at a restaurant where she worked as a waitress, has been placed on a good behaviour bond.
The Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court today heard Thailand-born Siriwan Box used the Mastercard to pay for fuel and food in three separate transactions on August 26.
The court heard a customer had lost the card at Kalgoorlie’s Exchange Hotel while eating at Paddy’s Restaurant.
Box, who appeared in court today with the aid of a Thai translator, pleaded guilty to three charges of gains benefit by fraud.
She paid for petrol twice in the space of a few hours at United Petroleum in Boulder, spending $20 and $21 respectively.
Box also attempted to use the card to pay for a $25.48 order at fast food outlet KFC, but it was declined as the owner had cancelled it.
She was arrested by police on September 19 on suspicion of fraud.
The court heard Box has worked at Paddy’s Restaurant for the past six years and had no prior criminal record.
A character reference supplied by her supervisor described her as a “hard worker” who would be unlikely to commit any similar offences in the future.
Box’s legal aid lawyer Paul Gazia described the offending as an “opportunistic moment” after she found the card at work.
“She was short of money at the time, but realises it was the wrong thing to do,” Mr Gazia told the court.
Magistrate Brie Ayling granted Box a conditional release order, placing her on $700 good behaviour bond for six months.
She will only need to pay the bond if she breaches the order by re-offending.
“I can see you’re remorseful,” she said.
Magistate Ayling also granted a spent conviction to enable Box to travel back to Thailand to visit family.

^ come on Tax, no need to laugh - certain she wai'd and smiled.

Now, what's the deal with a "spent conviction" to allow travel to visit family in Thailand. Would she be on a work visa? Not a citizen? Being convicted of a crime wouldn't revoke her status?

In the USA she would most probably have her permission to remain in the US revoked.

with a "punishment" like that she must be laughing herself stupid, and there is no doubt that should the opportunity arise she would do it again, only next time the purchases would be done quickly and for much greater amounts.

incarcerate the thief up for a year or two for a first offence in a punitive environment, uncomfortable cell, poor food, harsh discipline etc. and the chances are she would never risk incarceration again.

    meanwhile from todays uk press.

    Madness, M’lud

Judge David Evans has come to believe we are living in a parallel universe, which is an interesting description of where he presides — Exeter.

Ready to sentence some youths for street robberies, he was instructed to delay because the little scrotes were being referred to the Home Office as possible examples of “modern slavery”. It was alleged they lived in fear of their gang leader.

“What does this mean?” the bemused judge inquired. “That teenagers who get involved by their own free will now say they are modern slaves? I feel I have stepped into a parallel universe.”

No, Your Honour. It’s the current universe. For a while, at least

He has been in LOS just five days and has resorted to petty crime to get by? The story would make more sense if he had overstayed his visa by 6 months and had lost his marbles for whatever reason.

I hate thieves. Hope he gets a good lesson on why it's not okay to fly in and rip off the locals.

(Do the Thai govt understand Dutch?)

Welcome to 2020, the year of the tourist tax

Amsterdam has rolled out a new tourist tax – and Venice is next

    2 JANUARY 2020 • 1:37PM

Amsterdam has rolled out a new tourist tax – and Venice is next

As foreign tourists in Amsterdam woke up on New Year’s Day – fragile, groggy-headed, full of regrets – there was salt to be sprinkled in those wounds. For they must now pay an additional €3 (£2.54) per night to stay in the city.

The new tourist tax, introduced on 1 January 2020, is in addition to the existing charge of 7 per cent of the room rate. Tourists staying in Airbnb rentals will have to pay more, too – an increased rate of 10 per cent, per night.

Home to 1.1 million residents, Amsterdam receives more than 17 million tourists per year when you include daytrippers and Dutch citizens.

In recent years, the Netherlands tourist board has shifted its strategy away from promoting tourism towards finding ways to manage it. In a policy document published last year, it said: “To be able to control visitor flows, we must take action now. Instead of destination promotion it’s time for destination management.”

^somebody changed the picture of Amsterdam, as always happens when the message is not found appropriate to some.
As e.g. our kind Sybile, who is always so keen on purity of the threads.

He did not get the subtle meaning that perhaps in future also the tourists in Thailand will be charged per day, so perhaps they will need to steal more. Beware of Pattaya...

My BiL did re offend and I'd bet the majority of jail birds are re offenders. Harsh conditions aren't a deterrent IMO. Some people just can't help themselves.
