Sea rising or land sinnking, whatever, I doubt authorities would let this happen...too much money involved for the "good people", they would rather add more concrete on top of the ground (further worsening the sinking) set up seawalls at public expense than make them lose big money...I would be very surprised if they let the capital down as they have invested heavily on infrastructure and there are still more project in the pipe for the city. (Maybe to the detriment of other cities' development).

Wealthy Bangkokians have been buying real estat elsewhere for some time now...either because they fear the prediction occurs or because they think it would be better to leave in a smaller city, maybe a little bit outside of it for their old days.

More shopping malls, corporate parks, and parking plazas would surely be beneficial, especially upcountry where it all originates.

The two are very different processes. Eg: parts of Jakarta are sinking at a rate orf 2 or 3 cms per year, but this is not sea levels rising but land subsidence dueto removal of ground water.
