Thread: Thai Police Arrest 77 Year-Old American on Child Pornography Charge

Thailand’s immigration police have arrested a 77-year-old American man on child pornography charges. He was wanted on outstanding against him in the United states.


Immigration police raided a house in Pathum Thani and arrested Lawrence Welch, wanted by the state of Michigan. He’s accused of illegally possessing and distributing child pornographic materials, Police said.


Arresting police officers also found photos of children displayed on the house inside walls and boxes containing CDs featuring child pornography, Thai media reported.

During interrogation, the man allegedly admitted to police he owned the pornographic materials to appease sexual desires. He is being held in police custody, pending deportation.

Police also said Wells fled to Thailand to avoid the charges. US authorities had worked with the Immigration Bureau to get him sent back to Michigan.

ahh yes, The Long Arm of the Law. At 77 years old, probably spend the rest of his years in solitary confinement (for his own protection) in a US prison. If guilty, then rightfully so.

I doubt very much that he is in full possession of his faculties.

I often feel in cases like this they should make one last contribution to Thailand...leave their cut-off balls here. Cannot abide that type of activity.

As a victim of childhood abuse, I understand just how lives are ruined by abuse suffered as a child.

This cvnt deserves to suffer in a US prison for the rest of his days.

I really hope the victims get the professional help they will need

It would be far more miserable for him if he were in a Thai jail.

^Not if he could buy his way out, as so many do here.

I think the nature of his crime would mean that he would be targeted with violence from American inmates, which means isolation alone coule drive him mad.

If he has any money, he could `buy` privilages in a Thai prison at the very least. But if he does not have money to make his prison life more comfortable, I suppose the conditions in a Thai jail could be worse in ways..

That Erik Prowler guy did a year here and had to be dragged onto the plane bound to the States kicking and screaming.

Haven't heard of child abusers getting a hard time in Thai prisons, compared to the US where they are marked men.

^ Agree, in western countries, pedos and rapers are targeted...here I don't know, rape is considerably more accepted socially (at least the Thai soaps make it look like it), got a couple of pedo offers as a joke by acquaintances too...I don't know anyone who spend (enough) time in Thai prisons to be be sure about their fate there.
