A rally to get behind- or ahead of....

Activists Submit Petition, Call for Naked Rally to Amend Charter

BANGKOK — An activist group submitted 50,000 signatures to the House Speaker today in a bid to rewrite the junta-backed constitution.
The petition, organized by the 24 June Group for Democracy, called for amendments that would include doing away with the Senate altogether.

But another activist has called for an even more radical approach: showing up naked in front of Parliament. Sombat Boonngamanong, who’s well known for tongue-in-cheek protests and political stunts, said he wants as many volunteers as possible for the naked rally.

“I propose Operation Strip Down to Strip Apart the Constitution,” Sombat wrote online. “I will collect as many volunteers as possible, and then submit a petition to amend the constitution at Parliament while everyone is naked.”

Actually he is doing the opposite. He's pretending he's still a dictator leading a military coup.

Doesn't seem that this fine democratic representative style of government is working out so well.
Same could be said for similar forms of government the world over.

    So it is.

Didn't he 'forget' to recite part of the constitution that pledges allegiance to the people? Didn't he (his group) re-write the constitution?

    I'm clearly a bit confused

Frankly, "to re-write a constitution": where in the world would it be welcome by the sitting government? (some even do not have any...)

I'm fairly sure he did . . . and as to how it would benefit the sitting government, as in the government that writes it?

    Obvious, innit

    Thank you!

Nope, no multi-nic. Just needed a sabbatical from the likes of smeg, Jeff, cyrille . . . Life's too short to waste on people like that.

Doesn't need to pretend. He didn't pretend when he took over the country or when he held it for five years before a rigged election for the trimmings of legitimacy, so why should he start now?

    For those that missed it...

Prayuth led the inauguration of his Cabinet in a ceremony presided over by the king on July 16.
However, he omitted a phrase in the oath of office in which he was supposed to pledge to uphold every aspect of the constitution. The omission has raised questions over whether the inauguration was legally valid.
Prayuth told reporters Friday that he was continuing to conduct his duties “to the best of my abilities because I am the prime minister.”
The oath of office is required under Article 161 of Thailand’s Constitution, which includes the complete oath and states it must be said to the king before Cabinet ministers take office.
Prayuth’s failure to recite the oath in full, which also led to other ministers making the same error because they repeated what he said, was pointed out by opposition politician Piyabutr Saengkanokkul during a Parliament session on July 25.
Legal activist Srisuwan Janya filed a complaint over the issue to the Office of the Ombudsman on Monday which has been accepted for consideration.
