    Exactly.
    Politically rhetorical in nature.

Surely a responsible parent or teacher would be contemplating taking their kids out of Bangkok altogether.

If a teacher does it, it's considered kidnapping, which is highly frowned upon...

Just nuke the filthy place and be done with it.

Hoping the extended blast doesn't have a distant reach.

I'm not an expert but pretty sure commuting causes more pollution than staying home.

Also, in the average thai home the air quality will be better compared to being on the roads during rush hour...likely on a motorbike.

I have my Aussie niece and husband in Pattaya for a few days and I took them up to Pratumnak Hill which usually offers a panoramic view of Pattaya City and vast areas of the eastern seaboard.

The smog was so bad one could not clearly see the North Pattaya start of beach road.

The worst I have ever seen it!

There was some detritus on my screen. I thought it said "schools ordered closed in Bangkok due to Smeg".

I wondered what the fucker had done now.

You fucking stupid gormless Antipodean twat, that wasn't smog, it was the consequence of drier cooler air meeting the warm, humid air that had persisted in intensity when the tropical storm down south arrived over two weeks ago. The sea mist was particularly pronounced over the past few days, especially as the afternoon wore on and we even had rain yesterday but the the drier cooler air is still about as you may have noticed with the fall in temperature.

    Smog, my arse.

All the usual and twisted punditry aside, should've addressed these serious issues decades ago.
    The obvious.

The western answer was to move all their pollution causing factories to China and borrow fantastic sums of money to replace the lost revinues. Not sure that would work for Thailand.

Test exhaust emissions on all vehicles, ban/impound thoses that don't meet pollution levels requirements... I read that authorities were checking public buses but so far haven't found defective vehicles...which raise some questions on how the tests are conducted and/or polution level requirements.
A recent diesel truck wouldn't cause as much polution as an old and poorly maintained one, running on diesel or fuel

Test all factories emmisions on a regular basis (not one shot tests) and close those that failed until they fix their stuff ...

And finally prosecute all those that burn their garbage and green wastes (sugarcane fields, rice fields)... theses fires may cause 40/50% of the smog, looks like a good place to start ....

To avoid smoke inhalation in the event of fire one should crawl along on the floor, so it's quite possible LT is operating at an altitude too low to be affected.
