To put it in perspective, the combined death toll of Songkran and New year; two deadly weeks, is roughly the equivalent of the fatal accidents for 6 months in the UK.

While I have little sympathy for Darwin victims, sadly, not all deaths are due to their own negligence. There are many innocent victims, I'd assume.

I've just read a report that says it's the brakes on all the motorcycles that are to blame. I kid you not. So many accidents where the driver claims brake failure, now it's official; Thai drivers are not to blame, it's the brakes.

So by my reckoning the average daily fatality rate is 66.40 per day.

Over this seven days it's been 66.14.

Fucking hell, that campaign has been so hugely effective.

No different than the rest of the year... but presumably more accidents overall, can't be bothered to look at the stats.
