Your extension is not a visa, it is an extension of your permit to stay.

How long you have stayed in Thailand, how many extension you have done, that is irrelevant, you are not on a long-stay visa.
And that doesn't change, no matter how many ministry's and insurance companies you list in your post.

What is so difficult with that?
just for you,I HAVE DONE 9 YEARLY EXTENSIONS not as you state, and about 40-50 90day reports which clarify's my address.all with a NON O VISA ON ARRIVAL oct.2009.
and have never had to do a border run to receive an extension.
this is what it states on a TM.47 FORM. you must notify immigration if staying more than 90days.and at the bottom of the TM47 FORM.
IT STATES THIS IS NOT AN EXTENSION OF STAY.its to notify your ADDRESS AGAIN.
now we come to a TM7 FORM,which is an application for EXTENSION of stay for another YEAR.
the only time I mentioned VISA was on my arrival.both forms TM47 AND TM7 ask what kind of visa did you arrive with, once again just for you ITS A NON -O.
so that's enough of you trying to wind us up by your attempt to think you know the immigration rules unless your ubanjoe.

so what is the difference, between an expat on a NON O and an expat on a NON O-A.both with 1yr.stays.

It is only confusing for you, the immigration knows the difference between a non-O and a non-OA stamp in the passport.

People getting kicked out of positions like that often suggests they have some scruples.

    hmm...

Guess the "Good Guys In, Bad Guys Out" purge went just a tad bit too far. It seems (without knowing - and we'll never know the "full" truth) Hakparn stepped on a few high level toes, maybe upset some biggie's applecart and didn't pickup the spilled fruit quickly enough.

His purge of "immigrants" and/or non-immigrant long-term visitors definitely caused some serious ripples in a few money making machines. And, it looked like it was going to affect a few more well established "loop hole" money making machines.

    Tread carefully...

So anyway, what is the actual upshot this thread?

Have they announced that you will have to buy coverage to get a particular type of visa, and if so who from?

If the man has been removed it is because his measures were profoundly stupid, unworkable and would have involved the removal of tens of thousands lawful retirees who have bought property and been self sufficient up until now.
Seen some truly dumb shit but this latest crap introduced by the Big Joke has seen hundreds of British, American, Danish and Australians turned into second class applicants whose hitherto lawful status has been overturned in the space of a mere two months. I suspect quite a few are connected in some way or other to Thai with influence who are more, putting it politely, practical than BJ.
