    Medicinal Mary?

    I dunno,...looks a bit promising...

Medicinal marijuana by next year in Thailand

Thailand's Governmental Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) is starting researching to develop medicines from marijuana in acknowledgement of evidence that the outlawed substance has health-enhancing properties. It is also seeking to initiate a legal amendment that would permit cannabis for medicinal use, possibly by May next year.

You would be surprised by the many medicinal uses Cannabis has been used for in the past.
Do you know it used to be illegal NOT to grow it.

It grows wild here in Mongolia, you can just go and pick it at abandoned areas all over the city.

Slightly dated list of countries where you can smoke weed with no, or almost no, fear of legal repurcussions. I believe South Africa has legalised since this article, and one other place (begining with M?) that I can't recall.
Quite a few. Thailand is falling behind. It's a good tourist attraction.

I've heard from a good source that it will happen next month, before the elections. It will initially be grown on Thai Tobacco Monopoly land in Laos, with the first crop ready for harvest on around the beginning of summer and they're hoping for a 2 crop growing year.

Those in uniform need to expand their profit base. That's why it's happening before the election, or so rumor has it.

    I'd place Singapore waaaaay behind.
But medicinal use and recreational use are still very separate issues in Thailand. But it's a step in the right direction.

There we go. Setting up to be the Thai Cannabis Monopoly when it does go recreational. Sounds promising.

It's too early (for users) to rejoice, I think the medical use in Thailandwill be for searchers to develop medicines...oil, pills, this kind of stuff.
I don't expect weed to be sold as it is to patients, who will be few and carefully selected...at least at the beginning.
Recreational use under cover of an illness is not for tomorrow IMHO...

Yes, I think you're right, but the fact that it is Thai Tobacco Monoploy land where the crop is being planted suggests the Monopoly is manouvering to a strong position if recreational use is ever introduced.
Who owns The Monopoly? The Thai government (or is it the organisation that "owns" all the royal assets?)...one of the two. Therefore it's not unreasonable to predict a relaxing of the rules re recreational use once farming is well established.

About three years ago, first day after landing in the garden in the morning saw the FiL doing some weeding. walked over and to my surprise saw he was taking weeds out around a very nice Femail Hash plant with loads of buds on it. Got the Mrs over and explained and she told Pa who sat in disbelief for a couple of minutes then promptly ripped it out. Mrs said he'd been tending it and just liked the look of it. Bless.

Getting a bit fast on the replies mate. Female is the first mistake. Hash is the second. It was a marijuana plant. Hash is made from marijuana. Gave me a good belly laugh though..

Manaam, let's hope so ... Alcohol rules (among other) make me doubtful about Thai authorities ability to set up logic, consistent and implementable rules.
