BANGKOK, 10th May 2018, (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong has chaired a press conference at Government House.
ACM Prajin said the government is aiming to provide assistance for the disadvantaged who have been excluded from current developments. Accordingly, they have been launching projects in four important areas to eradicate social disparities.
He explained that the Ministry of Education has focused on improving human resources. Educational reforms include ongoing plans to recruit graduates into the teaching profession and train them to meet demands. Vouchers for professional development courses will also be offered to local teachers.
He further indicated that the Ministry of Energy has revised its Power Development Plan (PDP) to allocate electricity to areas in need. The blueprint stresses not only the use of local energy such as coal, solar power, and biomass, but also petroleum exploration. Alternative energy will be provided for farmers and people in remote villages.
The deputy premier then stated that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is investing in digital infrastructure. As Thailand is entering its so-called 4.0 era, the government is working on the Pracharat Internet project. Fiber optic cables have already been laid in 24,700 villages, which he said will lead to the growth of healthcare services and e-commerce.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice is to approve the justice fund for the disadvantaged facing legal charges. It will be used for legal proceedings ranging from hiring attorneys to posting bail.
