Police are confident that they have enough forensic evidence to nail the four suspects charged with the rape and murder of a 24-year old woman whom police earlier suspected of committing suicide.
The national deputy police chief, Pol Gen Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul, who personally questioned some of the witnesses in Saraburi earlier this week, said he was confident with the forensic evidence to implicate the four suspects.
The four suspects are currently detained by the police in Saraburi after the provincial court issued warrants for their arrest. They were identified as Santi Thipmon, Athipat Apinyakul, Nanthaporn Boonmark and Supakorn Sopha. All denied the charges against them.
Despite their denials, Pol Gen Srivara said evidence found at the crime scene, DNA test results and forensic evidence were enough to nail the four suspects.
The family of the victim lodged a petition with Pol Gen Srivara because they doubted the local police’s conclusion that she committed suicide by hanging herself to a door’s knob. They also suspected that some local influential figures were involved.
After receiving the petition, Pol Gen Srivara ordered the replacement of the police team investigating the case and offered an apology to the victim’s family for the poor job of the local police.
