Girl killed as mother dozes off on bike

Motorcycle was carrying six people including twin infants

PRACHIN BURI: An 11-year-old girl was killed and five family members injured when their motorcycle struck a road divider after the woman driving the bike dozed off early Saturday morning.

The fatal crash took place between kilometre makers 191 and 192 on Suwannasorn Road in tambon Kham Tanod of Prachantakham district, said Pol Maj Arthit Sriprat, investigation chief at the Prachantakham police station, who was alerted at around 6.30am.

The body of a girl, identified later as Penpitcha Kullabut, 11, was found lying dead on the road when police arrived. A baby-carrier pack was attached to her chest.

How the fuck does one 'doze off' when driving a bike? A car....ok, but A BIKE? Mind-boggling.

How does someone figure it is a good idea to put five kids on a motorbike and ride 200 kilometers each way in the middle of the night?

^ she'd had a row with her mother.

Why didnt the husband put her up for the night?

The amount of times ive seen kids asleep on the backs of bikes here is scary.
The coonts dont thank you for beeping your horn at them either.

    RIP little girl

    Hardwired into their existences.
Even after witnessing or learning of tragic instances as this, over and again, the majority still don't seem to get it.

Exactly right Jeff. The mother will probably get a token fine and carrying out the same driving practices as its the only way she knows.

I quite often see mothers riding around on motorbikes with toddlers on the back, hanging on for dear life with cars directly behind them .

you would too if you had the brain of a monkey,

at the end, it's not a blame thing, but an evolution thing

do you blame monkeys for their lack of concern when they swing on trees with their babies on the back ?

    A sad story indeed.

It is easy to sit behind your PC and write derogatory remarks about Thai people. The writer should contemplate their position. Are they able to afford a car or pick up? Are they expected to walk to their destination.

Education is the key..certainly not insulting the populace.

    Education is the key
They get compulsory education to the age of 16. Even if they had a car or pick up they'd still overload it. Rather than make two journeys and arrive safely they'd overload everytime and risk the consequences. It's the Thai way.

Did they really need to make the journey ?
Where ever she was going to, just dont go .
Did She consider that its a long journey late at night and that the roads are dangerous anyway , let alone six on a bike .
When she felt herself getting tired : Why didnt she stop for a while , even have a 30 minute sleep at a service station .
Did She put any thought into her actions and considered the consequences , or did she just do something that she wanted to do, with no thought or consideration as to what may happen ?
Or did she just do what she wanted to do with the mentality of whatevers going to happen will happen and that theres nothing that she can do about that

You seem highly knowledgeable on topics such as Thais with violent mood swings caused by drugs and Thais on the game overseas, but I'd suggest you're in danger of over-extrapolating from the rather downmarket circles in which you seem to move.

Would be even revealing to know what deluded and imaginary circles that old Cy keeps - for comparative/competitive notes, of course.

Well, nobody who believes a pregnant woman spitting in someone's ear will make that person fertile.

It's absurd to maintain such things are 'the Thai way'.

They're the ways of the uneducated, mostly rural poor.

No more 'the Thai way' than having a handbag collection worth millions of baht or living as a monk in the jungle.

Due to Sybil's obvious lack of social skills i'd imagine he's a loner and has no circles as such.
