Nok Cabin Crew Gives ‘toxic’ Welcome To Britney Spears

BANGKOK — A day after American pop singer Britney Spears touched down in Bangkok, a cover of her hit “Toxic” by four fetching Thai flight attendants was posted online to celebrate her arrival.

To welcome the millennial Pop Princess, Thai superfans have shown their devotion in different ways. Some attended a cosplay and lipsync audition for a chance to meet their idol, while others covered her song by wearing their airline uniforms.

Four Nok Air flight attendants went even further, filming their “Toxic” cover aboard a company jet. In the video posted Wednesday evening, the four perform a routine similar to that of the original, in which Spears dances in what is now an iconic blue uniform.

The clip has been viewed more than 55,000 times as of Thursday afternoon and drawn a lot of attention online where some criticized the airline service.

They weren’t the only flight crew to get in on the act, as more than 10 crew from Israel’s El Al Airlines released their own cover clip of the same song Tuesday.

Earlier, in March, an AirAsia flight attendant went solo to show his tempting dancing and lipsyncing skills.

Spears arrived Wednesday evening at Don Mueang International Airport and performs Friday and Saturday at Impact Arena.

She was due to marry Brian Ferry but called it off at the last moment - Britney Ferry's nuptials were too much apparently.

    Boom-boom.

My memories of her in Thailand are the tipper trucks mud flaps with her picture on , she seems to be a popular pin up girl there.

Nearly half a months salary for the average Thai to be near the action

In 2002 it was 600 Baht standing ten rows back to see the Pet Shop Boys

^that was 15 yrs ago and Pet Shop Boys is an 80s thing.

Britney is THE 90s pop princess. Earlier this month, she had also had a sold out concert in Manila. Ladies, their daughters, and even some ladyboys attended her concert in their fave Britney costumes. I've seen the vids and the reviews - Brit was in fine form. She lip-synched (but then she always does that), but the dance numbers were great.

I've watched Britney's tumultuous life, and I'm glad she's off the deep end and she's back on her game.

*Isn't she lucky, this Hollywood girl?

Sorry.... oops I did it again!

As someone who shamelessly uses her undoubted sexuality to promote her lack of Live singing ability, I would have thought you might see her for the contemporary strumpet that she is?
Didn't have you down as a 'girly teen' Katie. (No offence)

According to this site, it is a months salary for the average Thai:

    https://tradingeconomics.com/thailand/wages

But I have a feeling that the data is very distorted. Lot of Bk Thais are going to be earning 3 or 4 times that. My office staff are pretty all above 30K, and I know of some in other offices who are pulling down in excess of 50K a month.

@chas - I sang & danced to Mariah's & Britney's songs, some of Whitney's & the Spice Girls, Madonna's too. Those were the songs playing on the radios, jeepneys, as I was growing up.

As to Brit's vids, I didn't see most of them, since I/my family didn't have cable TV or MTV. Sure, at the back of my mind, I knew that she dressed sexily, but it was secondary. Her songs were singable, danceable and easily remembered. I can still sing "baby one more time" at the back of my head. Even Pia Wutzbach, PI's latest Ms. Universe, sang Baby one more time in an interview w/ radio DJs (it's on utube). I've only watched some of Brit's vids rwcently, now that I'm a mature adult. And I'm a bit shocked that her vids were very sexual.

The equiv of Brit now is Ariana Grande. Same packaging, younger version, same sexy vids. My niece sings her songs. Now, would I want my possible daughters to dress up like them (Ariana or Brit)? Probably not. Can I stop the radios from playing their songs? No. But if I'm a parent, then I could regulate what they watched/listened, to some degree.

When I read the reviews of Brit's concert here, and saw the mom-daughter pairs in Brit costumes, I thought - well that was cute. A lil mom-daughter bonding. The costumes of moms-daughters weren't overly slutty.

As to Brit's personal life, I've followed it, and as I've said, I'm glad she's gotten her grooveback. She went into depression, drugs, gained weight, etc. If she's past that, then good for her, as a person. Must not have been easy being a child/ teen superstar. Just look at Lindsay Lohan, Macaulay Culkin, etc.

Back to Brit - she's not a good singer, but she's a good dancer. Kinda like Madonna or JLo. And they all have hit songs. I have a Brit folder of songs on my laptop, but I wouldn't watch her concert. Too costly! Lol.

Not a criticism Katie, just an observation. Having visited PI recently I can concur that your earlier experience rings True today also.
My apologies if you thought I was casting you as 'prudish' I just forgot that you were a teenager once too. 555

    Got over it though.

I always wonder what would happen if the Pre recorded sound shit its self ?

Would she lay on her back and do a sex act or cut all her hair off.

    Dunno Eh.

These Meds I'm on make me think some real weird shit, I love em eh.

    80s thing?

they still have chart hits and, their albums still give them top 10 hits. They last played Impact arena in 2014 and the same year also played Manila a few days before, selling it out. But yes, they will always be famous for having a few number 1 songs in the 80s.

Britney is famous for using auto tune and double track vocals when playing shows. Probably still does. 90s queen she may be but there are limits to her talents.

But it's entertainment, and that's the important thing. I doubt there were many guitar solos, but I'd safely say it was a well choreographed spectacle.

Difference is, both Madonna and Jennifer Lopez can sing live without help from technological backing vocalists.

Being a great dancer doesn't add to ones musical prowess, as it's usually a way to mask the slight lack of ability in that department.

Dancing around for 90 minutes like a spastic sort of fuks up ones vocals I reckon so Britts goes for the show.

Want cracking vocals, sit on ya arse and sing properly.

    Besides that,

Britts could never pull of vocals produced and nurtured in a recording studio.

    Not a lot can.

Nothing worse than seeing some cunta play live and they butcher their songs because of bad vocals.

Bob fuking Dylan should be shot. Coont he is live.

Many live concerts are just a scam.

^Coldplay guilty of this. Just an example. Voice always hoarse and sounding out of breath. Shame really. Same as so many other millionaire stars. At least be able to sing live properly.

Another musical pet hate of mine too, the crowd singing most of it, if l want karaoke, l go to the pub. But if l pay over £50 a ticket l want the hits done as they should be.

Also a reason l won't see one of my favourite bands New Order play live. Drugfucked voice. Should be sued under the trade descriptions act.
