Pregnant woman killed after falling onto ARL rail tracks at Ban Tub Chang s

A 30-year-old pregnant female passenger was killed after she fell onto the rail tracks of the Airport Rail Link at Ban Tub Chang station as the train arrived this morning.

The incident forced the ARL rail service to cease operation temporarily.

It was not immediately known if the woman fell onto the track as the train arrived at the station accidentally or not.

The woman was also seen waiting for the arrival of the train along with other passengers on the waiting line.

But as the train reached the station, she felt off the platform onto the tracks when the train came close in.

The train driver pulled the braking system but could not stop the train in time as it was too close.

The police were investigating the incident.

The incident which happened at 7.00 am forced ARL to suspend the service temporarily.

The service suspension stranded hundreds of morning commuters at stations along the route.

However after almost half an hour, ARL resumed service only from Phayathai station to Hua Mark, and from Suvarnabhumi station to Lad Krabang.

Passengers are transferred on buses from Lad Krabang to Hua Mark to continue their trips to either Phyathai or Suvarnabhumi.

By 10.30 am, the service was still not back to normal service, pending forensic inspection by the police of her body at the station.

At 11.20 am, Airport Rail Link announced that its service return to normal.

Transport minister calls for more security personnel, following fatal incident at ARL station

BANGKOK, 19 June 2017 (NNT) – Authorities have been instructed to provide more security personnel to take care of passengers in the wake of a fatal incident at an Airport Rail Link station in the morning of 19 June.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said the accident in which a woman passenger fell into the track at ARL Ban Thap Chang Station would prompt the procurement of automated platform doors to prevent such incidents.

He said the ARL line will begin to use platform doors like those at Suvarnabhumi Airport Station and Makkasan Station, from March or April 2018.

The Transport Minister said the authorities were instructed to provide more staff on the platform to ensure the passenger's safety.

He added that the dropping of construction materials from the MRT Blue Line construction site prompted the authorities to collect data on accidents at construction sites to determine the eligibility of companies to bid for future contracts.

The Ministry of Transport will increase penalties against contractors for accidents, and engineers on duty. Such penalties will be added to construction contracts and be effective from 2018.

    Well ... thats all bullshit.
I saw the vid of the event earlier.
Apparently she fainted onto the tracks and was there at least a full minute before the train arrived and not one person did fuck all to help.
In fact they all of about 30 people moved away from the edge and turned away as the train approached and ran her over.
Pathetic and gutless the lot of tgem.
