83-year old woman bitten to death by a pitbull and three other dogs

An elderly man was charged with manslaughter by the police for not chaining his dogs, allowing them to fatally attacking an 83-year old cousin in Khloong district of Chanthaburi province.

The incident took place on Sunday evening as the victim, Mrs Pram Chotiwan, was walking past the house of her cousin, 67-year old Thong-in Chotiwan, in the same neighbourhood in Tambon Troknong, when, out of a sudden, one pitbull and three other dogs rushed out of the house and attacked her until she collapsed on the road.

Neighbours then alerted rescue workers who rushed the victim to the district hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly afterward due to fatal wounds in her neck.

The dog owner, Mr Thong-in, told police that he had finished preparing food for the dogs and then left the house to attend to some business without chaining or caging the dogs. He said he was saddened when he learned that his dogs had fatally attacked his cousin and offered an apology to the victim’s family.

He promised to pay compensation to the victim’s family and to keep the dogs in cages.

The victim’s daughter, 37-year Mrs Pattana Khaengkhan, said Mrs Pram used to be bitten by the dogs twice in the past but the wounds were not serious.

Neighbours complained that the dogs often harass and bite people who walk past Thong-in’s house.

Pol Col Chennarong Yuek-ngern, the superintendent of Khloong district police, said despite Mr Thong-in’s offer of compensation and apology, the latter still face charge of carelessness, causing death to another person.

Seems to be an upsurge in local popularity for these land-shark Pit-Bull abominations.
Some idiot "breeder" locally advertises them in a poster depicting them snarling and tearing up car tires.. Obviously appealing to the type of mummy's boy chickenhead who would never normally bother owning dogs other than as a proxy 'hardman' accessory.

Pitbulls; Shitbulls. Shit dogs for shit people.

Same as every other country. I don't think pitbulls actually live up to their reputation all that well, it's just that they tend to be bought by dickheads who can't/won't look after them properly so given the general fuckwittery surrounding dog ownership in Thailand, it's not surprising that the same pattern is repeated here.

It's actually quite remarkable that Thailand hasn't been the epicentre of the problem for years.

Perhaps it's because of that word 'bought'. Surely there will come a point when they are just adopted like the average Thai mutt...then the fun really begins.

Put bulls don't scare me it's the 90% of the kunts that own them that scare me, responsible kept they are less of a problem than a Yorkshire terrier, and for that reason alone they should be licensed in the same way fire arms are, but not like America where any loon can buy one but like in the uk with real actual police and psychological evaluations are stringently adhered to.
    It wasn't me!

Personally it's the thing capable of chewing my face off that scares me. It's not the irresponsibility of the owner that will do that. It's a set of teeth encased by fookin' muscle.

^ You're right, cyrille...Bobo mentioned carrying a big stick...Well, with these "boys," your stick "better be" a heavy cudgel that you can swing for the fence with...That requires you to have some athleticism and upper-body strength...Remember, you have to smash that skull, not just hit it...

These animals are powerful...And they know it...I've been around some fooking massive bastards...Not just the Pits, but Rotties and huge Dobermans...

It is the law of club and fang...A stout stick is a good equalizer...But I'd want something stronger than a baseball bat because if you break it you may be killed...

We're talking a lot of force and power, here...

I'm old enough to remember pits before they were banned in the UK and they caused a lot of serious injuries and a few deaths too, there are mixes of pits around today which are still illegal and police actively pursue and confiscate these dogs usually destroying them, and the one common denominator is the thugs and idiots that keep them who mostly want a big dangerous dog to massage their own failing egos or to use them as a weapon. Pit are fine fun loving creatures it's the idoit owners who are the problem, which I why they should be catorgarised and licensed same as a fire arm.
And under no circumstances should a thai ever be allowed to own one.

In Britain and America (and no doubt elsewhere too), there's a very strong culture of young men projecting a violent, hyper-masculine public image, which is obviously the appeal of pitbulls. This doesn't really have an equivalent in Thailand - young Thai men are just as capable of being arseholes but they are generally not interested in being swaggering cockmonkeys 'impressing' strangers with their capacity for violence so Thais who own pitbulls which eat the granny are generally just clueless idiots rather than in Britain, where they will likely be malicious clueless idiots who have played some part in making their pitbull even more violent than it would otherwise have been. On the other hand, the general ability of people here to look after dogs (at least with any degree of responsibility) is appallingly low so I'm not sure how that balances out.

Same thing happened to a little Japanese girl here in Auckland (Pit bull attack).

My wife and I, were among the thousands that donated money for her operation.

Pit bulls are bred for fighting (mainly other dogs) because of their propensity for aggression, lack of fear, stamina and incredible bite strength.

"Pit bulls make up only 6% of the dog population, but they're responsible for 68% of dog attacks and 52% of dog-related deaths since 1982, according to research compiled by Merritt Clifton, editor of Animals 24-7, an animal-news organization that focuses on humane work and animal-cruelty prevention".

Not to say they can't be placid, loving pets (obviously they can) but that fighting behavior is hardwired into their DNA.
Prag and other responsible dog owners, unfortunately have to pay the price for the irresponsible chavs/bogans, that encourage their aggression to compensate for their own inadequacies...

    Edit: found the story...

A seven-year-old girl mauled by dogs in Murupara on Monday now faces years of reconstructive surgery to repair extensive wounds to most of her body.
Japanese girl Sakurako Uehara is in a stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Middlemore Hospital following Monday's attack by four Staffordshire bull terrier-cross dogs.
Plastic surgeon Dr Zac Moaveni said today the little girl was suffering from more than 100 bites to her face, limbs, and almost "every part of her body".

"I don't think any of us were prepared for what we were going to see."
The priority in the first week was to stabilise Sakurako and clean her "grossly contaminated" injuries to avoid infection, Dr Moaveni said.
Then doctors could move onto the reconstructive stage - expected to begin early next week, he said.

"We'll most likely be transferring tissue from elsewhere on the body."
Dog bites differed to stab wounds and other injuries because of the force of the "crush" and tissue damage, he said.
Sakurako's healthy tissue would be used to repair her injuries, but it was still too early to tell which tissue was permanently damaged and unsuitable for the grafts.
"You can't always tell which tissue will survive."
The reconstruction of Sakurako's "ferocious" facial wounds would take time, Dr Moaveni said.

But no more to be worried about than Labradors because one Labrador attacked one woman.

True. But I've chased off tons of strays in Thailand without any problem at all. I'm not sure that would be true if they had all been pitbulls.

Yes, but not every dog possesses the tools and tenacity, to cause such devastating injuries and bodily harm as pits. *nor does so with such frequency
