Department of Special Investigation officials on Sunday morning searched a monastery next to Wat Dhammakaya to look for Phra Dhammachayo after some senior Dhammakaya monks were reported to have travelled in and out of the premise lately.

The search of Parisuttho monastery was led by Pol Maj Suriya Singhakamon, DSI deputy director-general.

Armed with a search warrant from Thanyaburi provincial court, DSI officials searched all the buildings in the monastery since about 6 am, but they failed to locate the elusive former abbot of Wat Dhammakaya.

The officials found some documents and two yellow long-sleeve T-shirts which resemble the ones used to be worn by Dhammachayo.

A caretaker of the monastery admitted some senior Dhammakaya monks used to stay in the monastery but not Dhammachayo.

The search ended at about 8 am.

Meanwhile, Pol Lt-Gen Natthathorn Prohsunthorn, commissioner of Immigration Bureau, careful examination of immigration records did not find any information about Dhammjayo leaving the country from any legal border points throughout the country.

Nevertheless, he said the immigration bureau had coordinated with its foreign counterparts to look for the elusive monk.
