Tobacco Monopoly moves production to Ayutthaya

AYUTTHAYA, 16 September 2016 (NNT) – The Tobacco Monopoly is moving its production base to Rojana Industrial Park with an investment budget of 1 billion baht, expecting operations to begin from the base in 2017.

Ayutthaya Governor Prayoon Rattanaseni has revealed the Tobacco Monopoly has already started some operations at its new production facility in Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya, as part of the production base that has been relocated from the old factory in Khlong Toei, Bangkok.

The new production facility in Ayutthaya provides an area stretching over 100 rai of land with a 1.5 billion baht investment budget, spurring more economic activity in the area than had been anticipated. The company is expected to reach full-scale production capacity at the new location in 2017.

The Governor of Ayutthaya further revealed that domestic and international entrepreneurs are interested in increasing their investments in the province, with the latest proposal being from electronic parts manufacturer Aston International calling for a multi-billion baht investment, which will create more jobs and income for the province, as well as raising investor confidence.

The Tobacco Monopoly had previously received a relocation order from the Ministry of Finance, according to the government's policy to solve traffic congestion in central Bangkok. Relocation efforts began in late 2015.

I'm intrigued to know how the move will benefit the traffic congestion?

Relief roads feeding traffic to and from the CBD parallel to Sukhumvit might be a step in the right direction.

The site is huge and worth gazillions in development prospects. I believe it is to be a park at the outset but given there already is Queen Sirikit nearby I would have thought such an amenity might be a tad redundant......

Another huge high end mall and some multimillion pound apartments on the river?

One may wonder who owns these lands/companies...

Going to be strange wondering around the park without that pungent smell.
They just finished some kind of development by the MRT station going to become even more congested around Klong Toey specially near the market.

Betty its nowhere near the river mate. Sukumvit soi 4 is an entry, you can also get in on Rama 4 and a short cut to soi 4. Goes almost all the way to Sirikit park and Asoke.

More highrise condo/office buildings. Live where you work. No car needed.

Or, like all the other high-end condos/malls that've been built; half a dozen stories of car parking and queues of cars waiting to turn into the malls/apartments thus turning two lanes of traffic into one...

This is not about traffic congestion, it's about profits for landowners.
    Cycling should be banned!!!
