AYUTTHAYA, 16 September 2016 (NNT) – The Tobacco Monopoly is moving its production base to Rojana Industrial Park with an investment budget of 1 billion baht, expecting operations to begin from the base in 2017.
Ayutthaya Governor Prayoon Rattanaseni has revealed the Tobacco Monopoly has already started some operations at its new production facility in Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya, as part of the production base that has been relocated from the old factory in Khlong Toei, Bangkok.
The new production facility in Ayutthaya provides an area stretching over 100 rai of land with a 1.5 billion baht investment budget, spurring more economic activity in the area than had been anticipated. The company is expected to reach full-scale production capacity at the new location in 2017.
The Governor of Ayutthaya further revealed that domestic and international entrepreneurs are interested in increasing their investments in the province, with the latest proposal being from electronic parts manufacturer Aston International calling for a multi-billion baht investment, which will create more jobs and income for the province, as well as raising investor confidence.
The Tobacco Monopoly had previously received a relocation order from the Ministry of Finance, according to the government's policy to solve traffic congestion in central Bangkok. Relocation efforts began in late 2015.
