Police provide tight security for revelers at full moon party on Pa-ngan island

SURAT THANI, 16 September 2016 (NNT) - Police have stepped up security measures and provided conveniences for revelers at a full moon party on Pa-ngan island off Surat Thani province.

The Koh Samui police have been assigned to provide security around piers and ports on the tourist island during the annual fun-filled party. The police have searched for weapons and drugs among a large number of party-goers from around the world in the evening of September 16.

The revelers were advised to wear life jackets while on a boat ride for safety reasons due to volatile weather conditions in the Gulf of Thailand.

At least 10,000 people were expected to join the full moon party on Koh Pa-ngan island, lying north of Koh Samui island.
