Economy & drought blamed for Songkran shirt sales' drop

BANGKOK, 10 April 2016 (NNT) - The economic slowdown and drought have been blamed for sluggish trade during the Songkran festival. Clothing wholesalers in Bangkok have complained about a drop in floral shirts sales.

Bobae Market is still a must-come for clothes retailers as ever. However, what is different from the previous year is that most of the shops have earned less than before, despite the arrival of the Songkran celebrations.

Wholesalers assume the campaign for water conservation and the economic problem are the causes of their income drop. They believe that Songkran floral shirts, which are the best sellers, will be out of favor with the public when the holiday ends.

Or, this could just mean that more people intend to celebrate Songkran topless, yes.

What about sales of wifebeaters? Isn't that a concern?
Are the Chinese wearing these? Or are they aimed at the white man?

They'll obviously increase their prices to try and off-set their losses.

Could this be a victim of Songkran?

I am sure the downswing has nothing to do with much tougher fines for drunk driving or drunk in public. Nothing to do with continuous warnings to act civilized. Nothing to do with the overall clamp down on business as usual.

Where can one go now to have fun?

Gave up trying to buy one - they come in sizes S, M, L & XL around here. Unfortunately, the XL size is about the same size as a western S, which I'm not - and never have been. Even the dainty missus can't use an L size - and she absolutely refuses to think about buying an XL.

Mind you, the 'miniscule' size thing generally applies to most other clothes, as well. Way back when, when I was a simple tourist I once bought some underwear on the Sukhumvit Road, size L - and nearly ended up strangling my dick.
I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Surely they've adjusted the sizes for the farang market, and created an xxxl size that would fit over a massive pot belly
