Pattaya pub shut down for five years by Section 44

A South Pattaya pub was ordered shut down for five years after it was discovered that it catered to underage customers.

Banglamung district officer Chakorn Kanchanawatta led a combined team of local officials, police, military personnel and excise officials to check four night entertainment premises in South Pattaya following complaints from neighbours that they caused public nuisance and allowed in underaged patrons.

In a search of Face Club, one of the targeted pubs, the officials found five school boys and girls aged 14 and several other patrons who are less than 20 years old in the premise.

The caretaker of the pub, Mr Saksri Paneenatpanich, was held in police custody on charge of defying an order of the National Council for Peace and Order for allowing the entry of underaged customers.

Although the underaged customers were not charged, they were taken to the Banglamung police station for a lecture before their parents were informed to escort them back home.

As for Face Club, Mr Chakorn said that the venue was ordered closed down for five years by virtue of Section 44 of the interim charter. This was the first case that a pub in the eastern region was shut down for five years.

I've been seeing students from the school I was employed by in Pattaya posting pictures of themselves and friends in Pattaya clubs for several years now.

When I lived on Soi 13 years ago, when the International School was at the end of the soi, there was a German Beer Garden across the street from my place.

Starting about 3PM on Friday, the High School kids would start to gather there, swilling huge quantities of beer getting primed for a night on the town.

some students in Kalasin drink lao khao and then roar off on their bikes.
3 came off one bike and 1 got killed.
after that the police took action and confiscated bikes of those smelling of alcohol.
but soon everything was back to the wild west.
none of these kids wore a helmet.
no protective gear. a tee-shirt ,shorts and flip-flops.

before i left, the police started doing random checks for helmets and insurance.
funny watching all the u-turns when they were spotted
and then another 2 cops would appear from out of the bushes to nab the u-turners.
