Campaign to reduce road accidents, and prevent crimes kicks off today

With a bit of luck they will keep deaths to under 500 for the 7 wonderful days.

Happiness, Convenience and Safety for All Thais
    Sounds like a winner.

a policy of strict control on alcoholic drinks distribution will be enforced during the festival
It sounds like a dream somebody had after a night on happy pills. Do they never factor in reality to their policies or policy statements?

all contrabands such as black-market cigarettes and alcohol will not be tolerated.
Will soldiers check all cigarettes smoked in the country for the 7 silly days?

I'm not sure what the "Excise Department" do but shouldn't there be "strict control on the distribution of alcoholic drinks" all the time?

Regarding the Transportation and Communications Minister's comment, shouldn't campaign that are aimed at behaviour modification be implemented much earlier than a couple of days before the holiday period, and realistically, they should be ongoing and not be scheduled to finish on "April 19."

Until the Thai people start to show some desire to change the dreadful situation regarding the road toll, then nothing will change. And I don't see any indications that that is the case.

How many times have you seen Thai cops ignore drivers do wrong, but as a freind of mine said, Thai's are hard pushed to walk and chew gum at the same time. That being the case, cops driveing would have a hard time to notice anything happening arround them.
