Woman arrested for trading in dog meat

Police and livestock officials raided a house in Nakhon Phanom’s Nong Wa district and seized dog meat of about ten slaughtered dogs.

The houseowner, Ms Panida Nakhowong, 45, was arrested on charge of trading in forbidden meat. She admitted that she bought the dog meat from a wholesaler at 200 baht for each slaughtered dog, cut it smaller pieces and sold them to villagers in Tambon Na Ngua.

The suspect also said that dog meat was popular during the cool season as the consumers believe that dog meat make them warm against the cold weather.

She admitted that she had been in the business for a long time because she had no other jobs or means to make a living.

They forgot about some of the other consequences - needing to take their bath with flea and tick shampoo and the men having to go wee wee balanced on one leg.

I never new it was illegal. It's only in the last 2 years that they stopped the collection of dogs in the village. How do they intend to now sort out the numerous soi dogs roaming the streets?

Dog meat was one of the few meat sources that Buddha forbade to be eaten.

How is it that the Junta gang has become so spiritual and literal over night?

More about politics and political image than anything else.
