British man held over Hong Kong murders

A 29-year-old British man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the deaths of two women in Hong Kong.

Police found the victims in an apartment block in the Wan Chai district after a call from the man at 03:42am on Saturday (19:42 GMT).

One woman, aged 25 to 30, had stab wounds to her neck and buttock and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body of a second woman, who had neck injuries, was found inside a suitcase on the balcony.

    'Top-tier bank'
Hong Kong Police said they had detained the man and retrieved a knife from the apartment, in the J Residence block.

Assistant district commander Wan Siu-hung told reporters the woman whose body was in the suitcase had been dead "for quite some time".

The South China Morning Post reported that the man worked for a "top-tier global bank" and that the two women, of Asian or South East Asian origin, were believed to be "sex workers".

A resident of the 40-storey block, who said his fellow occupants were mainly expats, told the newspaper: "It was a shock because you would never expect something like this to happen in Hong Kong."

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office said: "We can confirm that a British national has been arrested in Hong Kong.

"We are in touch with the local police and stand ready to provide consular assistance."

Post-mortem examinations are being conducted to determine the causes of the women's deaths.

Update - What to do with dead hookers??

Nov 2 (Reuters) - A Bank of America Merrill Lynch employee has been arrested in Hong Kong in connection with the murder of two women, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told Reuters.

Hong Kong police said a 29-year-old foreign man had been detained after two women were found dead in an apartment in Wan Chai, a central city district known for its nightlife, on Saturday morning. Police declined to identify the man or give his nationality.

The man has not been charged.

Britain's Foreign Office in London said a British national had been arrested in Hong Kong, without specifying the nature of any suspected crime.

The body of one of the two victims had been hidden in a suitcase on a balcony, while the other, a foreign woman of between 25 and 30, was found lying inside the apartment with wounds to her neck and buttocks, police said in a statement.

The man had called police in the early hours of Saturday and asked them to investigate the case, police said.

A Bank of America Merrill Lynch spokeswoman in New York declined to comment.

Hong Kong's Apple Daily newspaper said the suspect had taken about 2,000 photographs and some video footage of the victims after the killings including close-ups of their wounds.

The apartment where the bodies were found is on the 31st floor in a building popular with financial professionals, where average rents are about HK$30,000 (nearly $4,000) a month.

A woman who lives down the corridor from the flat said she had seldom seen anyone come and go from the apartment.

No need to specify, he's Brit and we all know there's no changing their lifestyles.

Now for sale in the UK no doubt? Snuff films live from H.K...well almost.

Bad choice of locations. In Thailand it would be ruled suicide.

Now we know why. When she was "seeing," whom did she see? Since she didn't say "never saw."

Oh well, Call the Embassy quick, this could be a frame up. Cameron will address the Commons no doubt on his behest.

Just saw his arrest pictures in the Daily Mail. Fat, ugly, balding, unshaven - looked much more like mid-40's than 29.

He's being described as English by the BBC. Perhaps his father was an immigrant. The police will no doubt be trying to link him to other murders of sex workers.

Why? Most bankers who are "good" in the eyes of their employers are psychopaths. The perfect fit for them no doubt.

^Weren't you a past resident of Hong Kong? The BBC did some interviews down on what appears to be the British Pub scene in H.K. Looked pretty much like Bangkoks Soi Cowboy...lots of Bankers no doubt.

Reminds me of Peter crouch quote
'when asked what he would have been if he hadn't become a professional footballer,
    he replied:
    “A virgin
    .” '

'It could have been me': 'Psycho' banker's British glamour model ex-lover 'Sonya Milkshake' reveals her torment after discovering he is accused of murdering two prostitutes in his Hong Kong flat

A glamour model known as Sonya Milkshake who dated Rurik Jutting for four years has said: ‘It could have been me.’ Sonya Dyer, 29, was said to be distraught after learning he was suspected of mutilating two prostitutes. Miss Dyer, who posed for racy photoshoots while pouring banana milkshake over her cleavage, was one of two British women romanced by Jutting before he moved to Hong Kong in July last year.

The other has been named as Goldman Sachs banker Sarah Butt, a privately educated former grammar school student who worked with Jutting at Barclays.
Miss Butt, 28, was said to have been his fiancee two years ago, but he was left heartbroken after their engagement was called off.
Last night a friend of London-born Miss Dyer said the fashion model, who had lived with Jutting in Wapping, East London, was shocked.
‘She was in a relationship with him for over four years and they shared a flat. She thinks it could have been her. She’s feeling really confused,’ said the friend.
‘It was a serious relationship. They lived together although they never got engaged. He never ill-treated her. He never hit her or treated her with anything but respect.

However, in an accompanying interview, she said she was keen to show that models are not 'all slutty', adding that she wanted to change's people's perception of the industry.
Ms Dyer, who was brought up in London by Jamaican parents, said: 'People have got the wrong impression about me but I think from doing this I might be able to change people's minds about models.
'It's important for me to be vocal about who I am, to show people that models aren't all slutty and we're not always at the club every night.
'You can be an intelligent, spiritual and well-rounded woman. And that's inspiring for other girls to look up to.'
In a separate feature with Dream magazine, she told how she started modelling after a friend persuaded her that it would boost her confidence.
Her modelling agent confirmed to reporters that she had been in a relationship with Jutting for several years and that it had ended 'recently'.
She had roles in the 2008 film How To Lose Friends And Alienate People and the BBC1 drama Ashes To Ashes.
Jutting is said to have gone skiing with Miss Dyer in 2013, making it unclear whether there was some overlap with his relationship with Miss Butt.
Pictures of Ms Dyer with Jutting show the trader looking far slimmer than when he was arrested over the weekend.
The agent was reportedly inviting bids for exclusive access to interview Ms Dyer.
She was once said to have described Jutting as her 'hubby'.
Asked about him at her flat in West London last night, she tearfully declined to comment.
An acquaintance in the banking world recalled Jutting being distraught two years ago after his then-fiancée – a fellow British trader – cheated on him with another man.
The woman, named by The Telegraph as Sarah Butt, 28, had met Jutting in 2010 when they were both working for Barclays in London.
However, she reportedly had kissed another man after moving to New York from London to work for Goldman Sachs last year.
Although the couple attempted to rekindle their romance - even getting engaged for a short time - Jutting struggled to get over the 'affair' and ended the relationship a short time later.

Quit his job ? i bet he got fired or something .

Time we left poor Rurik alone, he only saw this girl at one of those clubs in the East End, keep safe mate!

Kind of surprised there's not more poster interest in this case. Do we have no posters resident in Hong Kong?

This guy really went downhill fast. If you look at photos from as little as 7 or 8 years ago, he looked fit, normal - not a bad looking guy. Then, after a couple of years in HK, fat, slovenly, aged twenty years.

Guess a life of coke and booze isn't for everyone.

Today he advised his lawyers "I'm not mad". He and the girls "had a problem".

    Wonder how he defines "mad"?

^No death penalty in HK. I was asking about posters living in Hong Kong as I was wondering if they had mental institutes for the criminally insane. I'll try Google.

Bank Of America Psychopath Murderer's Automated Email Reply Says He Is An "Insane Psychopath"

Well, if alleged Bank of America prostitute killer, as described earlier, intends to plead insanity to all charges, he is one step ahead of the prosecution already. Below is the automated reply that emails sent to Rurik Jutting's Bank of America e-mail address are getting, per Bloomberg.

I am out of the office. Indefinitely.

For urgent enquiries, or indeed any enquiries, please contact someone who is not an insane psychopath. For escalation please contact God, though suspect the devil will have custody. [Last line only really worked if I had followed through..]”

They ship them over to the mainland for those where they also tend to 'disappear'.

    Try Baidu.

Capital punishment was indeed abolished in 1993 but one country two systems, still practiced in mainland China.

I wonder if he remembers committing the crimes? He is not the first Bank of America to make the headlines; quite a few unusual deaths all over the shop as well. His comment, construed by the press that he is admitting to being an insane psycho could be quite the reverse with him saying that everyone else working there is indeed an insane psychopath which is par for the course with these banker scum.

You'd need to read some HK channels, plenty of gossip and speculation on the subject, sift through comments and make an informed opinion. Banker friends say he was off his rocker with mental problems but that's just hearsay, who knows what was going through his guy's mind.
