a condom found in the area that had Witheridge's DNA on the outside but nothing on the inside.

Then there's her mobile phone, which has gone missing.

Interesting news here...Maybe some of you "know it all" morons will be opening your minds a little...I suppose you'll be upset that your pre-established notions are crumbling a little...

Investigation into Koh Tao murders seriously flawed - The Nation

That Nation article states that this condom was first mentioned on Wednesday....but I remember reading somewhere about a condom found at the site right at the beginning of this saga.

They say the mobile phone is missing, but was that phone not the one found with blond hair attached to it right at the beginning too.....if it's missing, the BIB must have misplaced it. There were even photos of it shown all over the place....

The media in general just seem to be making this up as they go and recycling old stuff when the BIB fail to issue new "statements".

....and another thing. What happened to the guy they call Mon or Mons who worked at the AC club. The BIB issued a statement that they had "solid evidence" connecting him to the crime....and that they were pursuing the ex Headman's son who had fled to Bankok and therefor suspected of being involved.

Ok, so now the Headmans son has been eliminated because he has a dozen witnesses saying he was not even on the island when the murders happened.....although it had been previously stated that he left the morning the victims bodies were discovered...

The two bar/club owners who were "suspects" have been cleared and released.....but where is Mon? I don't see anything saying he was released...and if he was, what happened to the "solid evidence"?

Laughable, innit koman?...But then, you have to believe nothing you hear in the news...

Sounds like it'll have to be the "military" who solve the case...I hope they do...

However, I find it ironic that Prey-youth would deem military intervention "draconian"...

Released after pappa thug spent a day bandying around the phrase "1 million baht". Same as his son who was identified as being in the bar in an altercation with the victims, who then fled to Bangkok, suddenly has an alibi and not even DNA tested. Funny that, heh?

Explain yourself BB - crumbling how? More knobs from Bangkok arriving to do what exactly? How have they helped the investigation so far? Arrested someone with definite evidence linking him to the crime, and then suddenly released with no charges.

Brace yourself pal - it's all going the way we ""know it all" morons" have said from the start and we will expect a grovelling apology from you.

Absolutely nothing in the international press other than a few articles that are days old.

I think this story, like the investigation, has run out of steam.

A couple more tragic, pointless deaths to go in the Thailand file.

The information stream has dried up. Nothing new or sensational from the BIB, so the press moves on, as they usually do.

PM blows top over Koh Tao queries

BANGKOK: Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha lost his temper when a reporter pressed him for a comment on a Time magazine article criticising the police work in the murders of two British tourists on Koh Tao.

"If I rush them [the police] too much, the wrong suspects will be arrested. We're trying to base the probe on scientific evidence as much as we can, and no one will be made a scapegoat. If their DNA does not match, they are not suspects," Gen Prayut said.

Police are meanwhile searching for more people of interest in the murders after they failed to establish any link between any of the people previously treated as suspects.

The son of Woraphan Tuwichian, a Koh Tao village headman, was yesterday (September 25) cleared because he was proven not to be on Koh Tao at the time of the murders, said Pol Lt Gen Panya Mamen, commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 8.

Mr Woraphan owns the AC Bar, where Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were last seen in the early hours of September 15 before they were found dead on a nearby beach later that morning.

Sources said police still have four groups of suspects: foreign workers, male foreign tourists, those who might have had a fight with a victim at a bar, and local community leaders. Police yesterday admitted they had been unable to narrow their search any further.

Pol Maj Gen Suwat Jaengyodsuk, acting chief police investigator of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, who is heading the investigation, said yesterday he assigned teams of police to delve further into the four groups, the source said.

Police are searching for Thais or migrant workers who are about 170cm tall and wear size 40 shoes, matching footprints near the crime scene. They have collected a total of 171 DNA samples.

The Tourism and Sports Ministry, meanwhile, called on the Royal Thai Police to set up stations in tourist hotspots, including Koh Tao.

the british embassy does not seem to be putting up much of a effort about putting the pressure on the cops to get their arse into gear and come up with some concrete facts.

So they find 2 Thais guilty of the Murders ????

Who ever they find guilty of murder come high season this year " December " Koh Tao will be rammed full with young people having a brilliant time.

This is an unfortunate incident which will blow over eventually as all murder cases do in Thailand and world wide.

Jesus, its bad news but unfortunately humans are a tad fucked up. This shit happens everywhere.

To top it off the Pigs don't have a fuking clue. If they did they would have the Killers behind bars.

Thank fuk for " DNA " simply because the Pigs would of fitted up some poor Burmese bastard by Now.

The real Killers left that Island ages ago.

The Bali bombings do spring to mind. How long did it take before nightclubs were popular there again ? Not too long, I'd say.

    ...and intelligence [of a sort].

It's more to do with profitable design, less human tragedy and social connections.

Is it any wonder why most feel a cold disconnection when exchanging any type with their respected national diplomatic mission [embassy, consulate]

    ^ ^

The Bali bombing recovery took around two tourist seasons but this was a totally different gig than two whites dying on Koh Tao.

The truth be-known, If it was two Thai's or Burmese that where killed that night on Tao this story would of been lucky to make the news.

Look at murders in Pattaya these days, No big deal .

I hope I have not taken this out of context, but I think it's more of an "unfortunate incident"

Shit does happen everywhere, but when the screw is turned by international pressure, then a result is normally achieved.

It's not often a double-murder is not solved.

Jack the Ripper got away with it, but not many others.

Koh Tao first started receiving Tourists in 1986-7. Today its 2014.

So in its 28 year History of receiving Farang Tourists this is is the first instance of Farang being Murdered.

Not a bad run I'd suggest.

I mean one needs to keep this in perspective.

Be the safest place in the world to be at the moment considering all the pigs running around.

Further more, in the early 80's on Tao every person new each other, it was small tight knit community but as the Dive Industry grew the outsiders moved in and petty crime became common.

    Same old story.
